Paid Members Chunk Posted August 3, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted August 3, 2016 He'd struggle to beat RDA for the belt.. Haha, of course! Went totally blank there ... that's what happens when every title fight results in a title change - difficult to keep up with.
Guy Bifkin
It's probably going to be Khabib against Alvarez next for the Lightweight belt... which might well mean another title change.

Yeah, it's got to be either Alvarez vs Khabib or Alvarez vs Barboza next, I reckon. No-one else stands out, other than Ferguson who's apparently fighting RDA. Paid Members JNLister Posted August 3, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted August 3, 2016 Changes to the judging criteria: http://www.mmafighting.com/2016/8/2/12363980/abc-body-approves-changes-to-mma-scoring-criteria-new-rules-in  In short, you now get a 10-8 if you do any two out of three things:  * Dominate striking or grappling * Damage your opponent significantly * Control the round for more time than your opponent  10-7 requires you to overwhelmingly dominate AND do significant damage to the point where the judge thinks the ref should consider a stoppage.  (There's also a reminder of the little-known point that effective striking/grappling is the primary judging criteria. Only if that's even do you consider effective aggressiveness. Only if that's also even do you then use Octagon control as the tiebreaker. And only if that's also even do you go 10-10.)  Other changes are that you now need two hands down to count as a grounded fighter (and not be headkicked), you can't have an open hand with the fingers pointing to the opponent's face, and it's now legal to grab the clavicle or do heel strikes to the kidney.  The new rules are from the Association of Boxing Commissions so should be followed by all states, but New Jersey says it want to opt out of the new down opponent definition and keep heel strikes to kidney illegal. adequate8
Oct 8th is the date for the new 'Neighbourhood Festival' in Manchester too. Hundreds of bands playing across 10 music venues in town, if hotels weren't going to be expensive enough already..... I'm told this is selling badly so doubt it'll affect local hotels anyway

TildeGuy~!
UFC Fight Night 96 has found its main event and co-main event as Cris Cyborg, Lina Lansberg, Renan Barao and Phillipe Nover have all been added to the September 24 event.  The next UFC event in Brazil has settled on its main and co-main events as Cris Cyborg has accepted to take on Lina Lansberg in the headliner, while Renan Barao takes on Phillipe Nover in the co-main event  A former Strikeforce featherweight champion and current Invicta FC titleholder, Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino (16-1) has not lost a fight since her MMA debut back in 2005. She had her first UFC fight on May 14, where she knocked out Leslie Smith in a catchweight bout at 140.  MMA Playground
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted August 4, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted August 4, 2016 What a strange pair of bookings. Especially to headline a show. I mean who the hell is Lina Lansberg? They really must be struggling to get fighters to agree to fight Cyborg if they've drafted in a Some Fucker to headline against her. And they've dug Philippe Nover up for this as well? The next GSP is back? They're obviously hoping this card serves as a bit of a showcase for the Brazilians.

David
They're giving Cyborg the slow build by the sounds of it. Which could backfire, of course.
