Paid Members Burchill's Buddy Posted July 9, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted July 9, 2012 I watched the 'Places Of My Life' episode last night and thought it was pretty great to be honest, love the edits, the swimming pool interview and the market trader bits especially. Moderators neil Posted July 9, 2012 Moderators Share Posted July 9, 2012 I think Places of my Life was a bit too long. It started to drag towards the end. There were some great moments in it though. Partridge zooming around in the range rover was hilarious.I did think the start of it was a brilliant send up for those awful Michael Portillo type shows. SteelEdge
Mid Morning Matters starts on Sky Atlantic tonight. Not sure if it's a new series though or a repeat of the episodes that were on the Fosters Youtue channel last year.
Baz Windham
From what i can gather it's those edited into 6 half hour shows, perhaps 1 or 2 new bits, not sure though. I saw them on YouTube but will we watching as they were excellent.
NEWM
I'm still surprised "Places of my Life" isn't being lauded over as much, I thought it was fucking brilliant. A lot more in line with the KMKY/IAP Series 1 character than the pandering catchphrase man he made himself in IAP Series 2. The book show was okay, but more of the latter type of Alan which I'm not as big a fan of.Even weaker Partridge is a pretty high standard for most British comedy like, but I've watched that first show a few more times back and enjoy it more each time. "Is that funny?" to the Car Salesman was my favourite moment from the latest watch.
Baz Windham
I also liked the fairly subtle story of him having a health scare, it was largely unmentioned on screen but it was still quite a good moment when he came out all happy presumably after the all clear. NEWM
Yeah, they strayed quite a bit into Marion & Geoff with some of that stuff (and not just because it was built around him getting in and out of a car for the big reveal), but I thought it worked pretty well. Forrest
The trailer for Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa has been released. Â I'm counting down the days. It looks brilliant.
