Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted June 13, 2012 Paid Members Posted June 13, 2012 My brain doctor told me that I should get myself a hobby, so I think I'm going to teach myself how to make pinball tables - I've really been enjoying Pinball Arcade, and when I had it on my PC, I love PinMame. My favorite table of all time is Data East's early 90s Star Wars, followed by Cyclone and Theater of Magic. Â First, I've got to decide what table to go with. They all sound like fun ideas, so I'll go with whatever the choice here is.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted June 13, 2012 Moderators Posted June 13, 2012 Ahh man. That is a hard decision between Requiem for a Dream or Arrested Development. Â In the end I chose Requiem for a Dream. Â Fun Fact - I have a notebook around somewhere from when me and a mate spent a stoned afternoon coming up with an Arrested Development version of Monopoly. Monopoly is a shit game though, sadly..
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted June 13, 2012 Author Paid Members Posted June 13, 2012 Hush your gums, Chest - Monopoly is a blinder. I've had many, many hours of fun playing it - currently in the process of replacing my old board games with these bad boys. Â Arrested Development Cluedo would be a good one - it was Buster, in the Banana Stand, with the cooler full of evidence. Â I was thinking of making the fridge the centerpiece of a Requiem pinball, with a "juice" multiball.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted June 13, 2012 Moderators Posted June 13, 2012 As long as "ass to ass" is on there, that's all I'd be aiming for. Â I loved Monopoly as a kid, but the problem is there's just not enough skill involved or thought required.
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted June 13, 2012 Author Paid Members Posted June 13, 2012 Actually, ass to ass sounds like the multiball - I can imagine the MP3 of that scene playing at just that moment. Juice sounds like a thing that would light the jackpot. Spell out J-U-I-C-E, then trap the ball in the electroshock therapy ward for the jackpot.
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted June 13, 2012 Paid Members Posted June 13, 2012 I love "People Everyday". great track, can't see it making a good pinball machine though.
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted June 13, 2012 Author Paid Members Posted June 13, 2012 I love "People Everyday". great track, can't see it making a good pinball machine though. Â Spell T-E-N-N-E-S-S-E-E to light extra ball.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted June 13, 2012 Moderators Posted June 13, 2012 Juice sounds like a thing that would light the jackpot. Spell out J-U-I-C-E, then trap the ball in the electroshock therapy ward for the jackpot. Â Â That sounds perfect. Â I'd love to see the design sketches and ideas in this thread as you go along; that would be really fun! Â Â Edit: I'm pretty much already assuming that Requiem for a Dream is going to win the public vote, I'm going to be gutted if it doesn't . Don't let me down, people!
Paid Members Bus Surfer Posted June 13, 2012 Paid Members Posted June 13, 2012 I voted for Lost. Â On the subject of Monopoly, it's great, but inevitably would always end with someone robbing/bribing the bank. It always descends into chaos. I once played it with 4 mates while we were in a parked car. Played for hours we did.
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted June 13, 2012 Author Paid Members Posted June 13, 2012 When people stop voting, or on Friday - whichever comes first - I'll start in on ideas and sketches. Probably going to make artwork by cartoonizing photos in photoshop, and nicking some MP3s from around the internet, or making my own.
Paid Members Burchill's Buddy Posted June 13, 2012 Paid Members Posted June 13, 2012 I voted for Arrested Development, just because I haven't played a pinball machine for years but if saw an Arrested Development one I would totally play it.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted June 13, 2012 Moderators Posted June 13, 2012 In the event that Arrested Development wins, you'll have a plethora if brilliant samples to use. One of those should definitely be "Chicken fiiingers.... with spicy club sauce"
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted June 13, 2012 Author Paid Members Posted June 13, 2012 "He takes his queen and showers her with diamonds! Clubs. Club sauce! He showers her with club sauce" Â There is a great quote for the special - "She was special. But she wasn't smart"
Rey_Piste Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 A guy has actually made a full Lost pinball table. http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DO...pinball-machine As well as that his first pinball table was a Bill Paxton one. http://benheck.com/03-16-2010/bill-paxton-pinball I'd go for an Arrested Development table personally, there's so many great sound clips to use as well as having stuff like a stair car ramp and the banana stand as a trapdoor.
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted June 13, 2012 Author Paid Members Posted June 13, 2012 I was thinking of the cornballer as a version of Addam's Family's electric chair, mainly because of the good samples. The banana stand would be a nice target, and the stair car ramp ("Watch out for Hop Ons") would be a definite.
