Despicable comments here from GPW team captain Johnnie 'Heresy' Brannigan towards his Vendetta opponent XWA team captain 'Psychotic Warrior' Johnny Phere.

A line has been crossed. Now Brannigan must pay.

Must say, the build up for this event on various social medias, on the forum and at the last show has been superb!

Perhaps the best bit of hype yet though has been heresy's latest promo. Just watched it now, really excellent stuff! If i was able to go, it alone wouldve inspired me to buy a ticket just to see him get his arse kicked by phere! I will be keeping a keen interest to see what happens at the show. best of luck to both teams!

What a great looking card!!! Cannot wait for this on Saturday!!

Who is the Best in the North West? We will find out on Saturday, July 28 when the extremely personal rivalry between XWA and GPW explodes into all-out war!

The war between XWA and GPW started with a series of misunderstandings, escalated with a series of violent attacks, and will now peak on a night of team competition at The Hexagon, Lancaster and Morecambe College, to determine just which of these two top North West wrestling promotions is better than the other.

Bragging rights will be determined by a best of five match series on the night. There will be three singles matches, a six-man tag and a show-closing four on four Only the Strong Survive elimination match. Victories in these matches will score points for a team. The team with the most points at the end of the night will be declared the winners.

The full card has been announced and it's an absolute cracker!

BEST OF FIVE SERIES - MATCH 1

'RockStar' Spud (XWA) vs Kris Travis (GPW)

For XWA, you have the company's only ever Double Champion, a Morecambe mainstay, the most charismatic personality in British Wrestling today, the controversial and colourful RockStar Spud. And for GPW, you have a former GPW Tag Team Champion, a GPW original, arguably in the top five in-ring performers in British Wrestling today, the self-absorbed but mega-talented Kris Travis. It simply can't get any better than this...

BEST OF FIVE SERIES - MATCH 2

'Heavyweight House of Pain' Stixx (XWA) vs 'Dangerous' Damon Leigh (GPW)

Four years and 19 matches undefeated, 'The Heavyweight House of Pain' Stixx bleeds the colours of XWA. His opponent DDL is GPW born and GPW bred, Grand Pro through and through. These two are the talismen for their teams and they will meet one on one- DDL determined to finally end The Stixx Streak while 'The Heavyweight House of Pain' aims for 20 in a row against the master of the STF.

BEST OF FIVE SERIES - MATCH 3

'The Psychotic Warrior' Johnny Phere (XWA) vs Johnnie 'Heresy' Brannigan (GPW)

For the first time EVER, two of the most hot-headed, stubborn and single-minded individuals on the entire UK wrestling scene will meet in what's bound to be a hard-hitting brawl between team captains neither of whom can afford to lose! These two have history from Phere's GPW days too. It's the deranged XWA Champion vs the loudmouthed GPW Promoter...and something has got to give!

BEST OF FIVE SERIES - MATCH 4

Jynkz and The Blackpool Blonds (XWA) vs Ste Bin Mann, Jason Logan and Dylan Roberts (GPW)

A six-man tag war will be part of XWA vs GPW Vendetta where both teams will have to put their own inter-personal problems aside to fight for team points. There is no love lost between Jynkz and The Blonds, neither is there between Bin Mann and Logan. However, Jynkz and The Blonds have one thing in common. They both hate GPW. Ditto for Mann, Logan and Roberts with XWA. Expect chaos!

BEST OF FIVE SERIES - MATCH 5

ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE FOUR-ON-FOUR ELIMINATION MAIN EVENT!

Four members of Team XWA will square off with four members of Team GPW in a show-closing survival match which could determine once and for all just who is the Best in the North West! Team members will be picked on the night.

PLUS

NEUTRAL BONUS MATCH

Joey Hayes vs Bubblegum

Joey Hayes, the number one contender to the XWA Title, has wrestled for both XWA and GPW for the best part of a decade. Bubblegum shot to national prominence in Morecambe with XWA's forerunner the FWA and was part of one of XWA's greatest ever matches at Goldrush 2009 against El Ligero. Both men have allegiances to both companies. So on this night, Hayes and Bubblegum have pledged to stay neutral and instead, will wrestle each other in the spirit of competition. It could be an absolute classic between two of British wrestling's very best!

AND

XWA vs GPW SCIENCE FICTION LIVE!

The world of the strange and the surreal will invade The Hexagon as GPW's resident mad scientist, Professor Mike Holmes, promises an experiment that XWA fans will never, ever forget!

XWA vs GPW VENDETTA: Results and report

In undisputably the greatest, most heated atmosphere ever to grace an all-British wrestling event, XWA and GPW did battle on Saturday night, July 28 at The Hexagon, Lancaster and Morecambe College, to determine who was the best in the North West in front of a packed crowd of 300 of the most rowdy, noisy, emotional, passionate and partizan fans you will ever wish to find. But when all was said and done, who won? Read on...

Duelling chants between sets of GPW and XWA fans began even before the show started.

Commentators Jesse Ellis and Stallion, and special guest timekeeper 'The Minion' Aaron Inferno (and his doll) came out. Rival ring announcers Greg Lambert, XWA promoter, and turncoat GPW ring announcer Richard Parker emerged to what can only be described as a berserk crowd reaction. After the fans had finally calmed down, the show began....

BEST OF FIVE XWA vs GPW SERIES: RockStar Spud pinned Kris Travis after a top rope flying elbow. 2-0 XWA in the Best of Five Series.

BEST OF FIVE XWA vs GPW SERIES: Stixx pinned Dangerous Damon Leigh with a desperation roll-up after blowing out his knee. 4-0 in the Best of Five Series to XWA, but Stixx was helped from the ring and taken to hospital, seriously injured. In beating DDL, Stixx took his undefeated four-year 'Stixx Streak' to 20 matches in a row, but played no further part in the show.

BEST OF FIVE XWA vs GPW SERIES: Ste Bin Mann, Jason Logan and Dylan Roberts defeated Jynkz and The Blackpool Blonds when Bin Mann speared and pinned JD Sassoon after Jynkz was distracted by his sworn enemy Ricky J McKenzie in the GPW fans' section. After the match, The Blonds blasted their own partner Jynkz with a double DDT and walked out on Team XWA, leaving the building. Young XWA trainee Action Jack Clarke went into the ring to check on Jynkz and was cheap shotted by Dylan Roberts. The score: XWA 4 GPW 2.

Joey Hayes pinned Bubblegum in a bonus 'Neutral' Match following the JKO.

BEST OF FIVE XWA vs GPW SERIES: Johnnie 'Heresy' Brannigan defeated 'Psychotic Warrior' Johnny Phere by disqualification after the referee reversed his decision in an XWA Title match. This means Phere kept the title but Brannigan scored a valuable point for Team GPW. During the match, Brannigan delivered an illegal piledriver to Phere but referee Russell Smith was distracted by an argument between Lambert and Parker at ringside. But Phere kicked out! The XWA champion then manoeuvred Brannigan into his patented War-Lock and the GPW promoter and team captain tapped out! Phere's music played and he was announced as the winner, putting Team XWA into a surely unassailable 6-2 lead. But infuriated by Brannigan's pre-show comments about his personal life, Phere refused to release the War-Lock after the match. Referee Smith was given no choice but to disqualify 'The Psychotic Warrior'. GPW manager Alan Alan Alan Tasker, who was part of the GPW section of fans, then rushed into the ring and attacked Phere, seemingly to save Heresy from permanent injury, and was given a Ram Slam! With Johnny on an absolute rampage, XWA promoter Greg Lambert was forced to try to calm him down and remind Phere the best way for revenge on GPW was to come back in the main event and win the decider. The score was now XWA 4 GPW 3.

Before The Morecambe Raffle (which XWA won 3-1, by the way), the colourful XWA commentator Stallion interrupted proceedings and introduced GPW's resident mad scientist Professor Mike Holmes for a special live episode of Science Fiction. Holmes explained he had been invited to The Hexagon by Stallion on a zombie hunt following the series of zombie attacks on recent shows by The Creeper. Holmes wielded a smoking green liquid which he claimed would make him zombie-proof. But when the 6ft6in monster The Creeper came to the ring, carrying what appeared to be a bloody, severed head, he seized the potion from Holmes and spat it in his face! The Creeper then laid the Professor out with a Tree Slam and applied a strange new submission hold which can only be described as The Brain Eater, rendering Holmes unconscious. With Stallion cackling at what appeared to be a set-up to embarrass GPW, The Creeper carried the prone body of Holmes from the ring to goodness only knows where...

BEST OF FIVE XWA vs GPW SERIES: Eliminations in the main event four-on-four Only The Strong Survive Match were as follows:

Action Jack Clarke (XWA's last-minute reserve) pinned Dylan Roberts after a surprise roll-up

Jason Logan pinned Clarke following a Last Ride Power Bomb

Jynkz pinned Jason Logan after Spud hit a RockStar Stunner, Johnny Phere delivered a Ram Slam, and Jynkz landed a top rope flying splash

Bin Mann speared and pinned Jynkz

Bin Mann speared and pinned Spud

Johnny Phere pinned Kris Travis following a Ram Slam

So it came down to Johnny Phere (XWA) vs Ste Bin Mann (GPW) to decide the overall series winners. With the two sections of fans on their feet, Phere had Bin Mann in the War-Lock and the GPW dustman tapped out. But referee Smith was distracted by Richard Parker on the ring apron and did not see it. Greg Lambert then pulled Parker down and shoved him down at ringside! Meanwhile Phere released the War-Lock and was arguing with the ref. Bin Mann then tried to spear Phere who moved out of the way, and the referee took the spear instead, crashing to ringside! At this, the remaining members of Team GPW rushed into the ring and attacked Phere, but then the members of Team XWA, and also Joey Hayes, ran in to even the odds, clearing the ring of the GPW squad. With the official still down and Greg Lambert desperately trying to revive him, Bin Mann brought his metal rubbish bin into the ring, looking to blast Phere with it, but Johnny countered with a Spear! At this, Phere set up for what surely would have been the finishing Ram Slam and charged across the ring.......................straight into a JKO from JOEY HAYES, who came in out of nowhere to intercept the XWA Champion with his devastating finisher! The fans were stunned as Joey threw the referee back into the ring, Bin Mann crawled in for the cover, and the count was made. 1....2....3. Bin Mann pinned Johnny Phere to win the Only The Strong Survive Match, gaining two points for Team GPW. The final score in the Best of Five Series, Team GPW had come from 4-0 down to win by 5 points to 4.

After the match, Team GPW celebrated with their fans, XWA fans were in tears, Greg Lambert looked totally devastated, and Joey Hayes stood impassive, watching. Then after GPW left in triumph, Hayes got into the ring with the XWA Title, which remember, he is the number one contender for, and lifted it above his head while standing over the fallen Phere. Joey then left, not acknowledging the GPW section, so it is unclear whether he had joined forces with GPW, or whether he was acting of his own volition.

Greg Lambert then got into the ring, choking back the tears, apologised to the XWA fans, and said: "Normally I would say I hope to see you next time...but I'm not sure if there's going to be a next time."

The XWA promoter then dropped his microphone in the ring, and left.
