Well, where to start after all that? The results and the updated table were once again available in the usual places fairly soon after the matches finished, but I think we all needed a couple more days to calm down following a dramatic last day in the good ol' EPL. For us however a boringly ordinary card turned into an utterly average round, with only 5 points between best and worst scorers. At the top snowman dave picked a bad week to be joint lowest scorer with yours truly, but stunstone could barely take advantage as he only managed one point more. At the other end tom struck back with his third belter of a performance in the past month and at last moves off the bottom on most exact scores ahead of The Ratt.

To make things even more controversial, Ratty has warned me he might not be able to get online this week but latest it that any connection worries seem to be sorted, while brownie hasn't logged into the forum at all in over a fortnight, and only being 12 points off 21st place he could now drop down there by default. With a completely unjustifiable 96 points (but no bonuses) on offer in the final round, anything could happen at both ends next week.

As for the matches, let's start with the ones that went the way most people were expecting all afternoon... uh, a lot of you thought United would keep their side of the bargain at Sunderland, but it was surprising they didn't do so more comfortably scoreline-wise against a team rightly accused of having played in flip-flops for over a month. Villa were also widely expected to be overturned at Carrow Road, even if many thought they might perhaps not do so as meekly and insipidly as they did in what proved to be Alex McLeish's last game in charge. In contrast, Chelsea warmed up for the European Cup final with a closer home victory than anticipated, but it was still generally good for at least a load of one-pointers.

Elsewhere some wrongly thought Newcastle could get something at Goodison, ditto for Liverpool at the Liberty as Swansea's season ended on a high. The result at the DW, on the other hand, was at least useful even if the score wasn't. Bolton's failure to save themselves by not winning at the Britannia was more widely foreseen by participants here than Owen 'Barclays' Coyle might've hoped. In the race for Europe a majority correctly saw Arsenal and Spurs walk away with the wins they needed to qualify for next season's Champions League (a possible Munich miracle notwithstanding), even if it meant Jol not getting any kind of revenge for his treatment at the Lane and Roy not signing off at the Hawthorns with a triumph.

Even without knowing they were down to 10 men, I doubt many players would've bet on QPR winning. And yet, going into injury time that's exactly what they were somehow doing, despite all other statistics going massively against them. Then City scored and suddenly I was on course for a maximum 3 points from that fixture. One other person here had even gone for a draw and I was feeling pretty smug. So of course, the Rangers defence still had to find time to part like the Red Sea and let Kun through to score and give 18 FPLers a more obvious point from the fixture.

And that's your lot. Justifying all the matches on the bumper card will take a while, so don't hold your breath, but the last thread of the season will be up soon enough...
