Well fuck me. This week's predictions out of the window already! Crazy crazy 45 minutes across the country!

You got that right for one thing. The scores didn't go in the first post until Tuesday lunchtime, and the table followed a few hours later. Apologies for being somewhat late then, but as stunstone has pointed out, many guesses had gone to pot by half-time on Saturday, so it was a fairly low-scoring round, meaning little movement. The gap at the top was closed by the aforementioned stunstone to just a single point, but at the other end all of tom's recent good work was undone as he was the worst of a bad bunch scoring just a solitary point. That allowed El Espanacas to widen his rival's deficit for the first time in a while, to a potentially unlucky 13 points. His highest scorer performance accounted for more than a quarter of all exact score predictions this time out.

 

So, why were things so bad? Well for starters, there were no less than 3 home wins with a scoreline of 4-0. Nobody saw any of them coming, but at least those at Goodison and in the relegation six-pointer in Auxerre were good for a few one-pointers. Wigan's demolition of Newcastle seems to have caught everyone out. Meanwhile at the Liberty, eight goals were shared in a meaningless fixture - which of course can often be the hardest to foresee. That proved a dud result, with PGS's reverse at Lille in the other French fixture being little better for most as their hopes of buying their way to the title across the channel took a further knock (but Montpellier's home draw with
