The return of a pet

My now very elderly cat once did a disappearing act. I walked through our local fields and paths and did a house to house of my neighbours with a photo, only to find her, two days later, in one of my furthest neighbours' kitchen eating "his" tea!!

Thinking of you and hoping that your cat returns very soon.

Cheers, now that norovirus is out of my system I had a real good look or her with no luck. Wondered did someone take her and why? If she went walkies someone would of caught her by now. Been gone for 72 hours now

I truly hope your cat returns. Scared me half to death when my elderly cat decided to have a weekend break at a neighbours. The neighbours never bothered to tell me this so its worth going round the neighbours again.

We are within the hour when everyone returns from work. Its horrible having to look at the cat since you can see the depression in her eyes, the hope is still there and hopefully we will get a call saying someone has her or she will return home.

Well my cat has no come back yet and I highly doubt she will return which is a shame. I've found myself having to comfort mickies sister alot more keeping her occupied or making sure she has company at all times as she really does look lost without her sister.

It's hit me a lot more than expected, it's left me empty inside emotionless if that's a word. The misses says that just a form of griefing, I never griefed over my last grand parent passing away in 2007 it never hit me but when I lost my parents cat I had him for 19 years from a day old to the day he passed away while I was holding him. It hit me hard for a few days but mickies disappearance has hit me more than the death of my parents cat.

How odd all this. I still hope mickie returns.

At this point might be worth checking with your local council's Environmental Health Department. Sadly, if she was hit by a car then they might well have found the body and disposed of it. At least you'd know.

So sorry to hear that mickie hasn't come back, I have been thinking of you and hoping that she would return. Grief is weird. I had to have my rabbit Duke put to sleep last August and I am still finding it hard to go into the garden because I'd be out there every day with him, letting him hop round the garden, socialise with our cats and just stroking his nose and talking to him. I had him for 8 and a half years and he was my gorgeous boy, so it killed me to have him put down. But his back legs had gone so he couldn't get to his food or water. We tried painkillers and steroids but you can't cure old age.

So I'm still grieving and it sucks. I support a couple of rabbits at the local sanctuary but I can't have another one myself because my health isn't good.

Please let us know if mickie does return - I'm crossing my fingers for you.

Still no news of mickie I take it? I think maybe it's the not knowing that would get to me most. I presume that you've rung round the local vets? Clutching at straws I know :(

Well we gave up hope on Mickie we had been given a report that someone fitting Mickies description to a tee was ran over 2 miles away so we gave up hope in April.

Oddly someone yesterday at 10pm rang saying they have Mickie in there kitchen luckily the people only lived 15 minutes away. Good job the misses put my contact number on her collar in case something like this did happen.

Unfortunately picking her up was the start of some problems.

Me and the misses was walking home with Mickie in her cat box, we go on our street and she somehow escaped the box running down another street luckily we caught her but took 10 minutes to get her to come out from under a car.

Took Mickie into the house to be reunited with her sister who has meowed for months asking about Mickie's whereabouts. They confronted one another in seconds they hissed at one another had a 10 second scrap Jess being the victor with Mickie now has 3 scratch marks on her nose. In the process they chased one another under the misses bed and Mickie fouled herself and refused to come out from under the bed and any attempts do so was me being hissed at.

Got Mickie downstairs for some food she wet herself all over a cat mat but Mickie wet herself again while the misses was holding her. Me and the misses have done quite a bit of cleaning in the last day to get rid of the pee as it leave a very strong smell which sticks around for about a month if left untreated for a few minutes.

So a day has passed now, the sisters still don't get along. Jess just wants to get along and reunite but Mickie just continues to hiss. Jess hates any attention Mickie receives and becomes all jealous if they do come close to one another they both start growling. Also took Mickie to the vet today cost

Mickie sleeps with the misses and Jess sleeps with me.

If I were you, I'd piss the bed and blame the cat.

I don't get the "Jess doesn't shift over" part. My cat occasionally sleeps at the bottom and ONLY the bottom of my bed. It reads like you and the mog are spooning or something. Just stick it all the bottom of the bed.

Im so glad to hear you got your cat back! Don't worry about the hissing and fighting it will die down... it's to be expected. It sounds like your Mickie has had a bit of a ordeal.

I'm with you on the whole "cat stealing the bed" business. My cat would wiggle between me and my missus... put his soft furry back to my missus, then extend his claws and STREEEETCH out jabbing me with four painful feet of fury and pushing me off the bed.

Almost as annoying as when my missus falls asleep on the bed diagonally, and then each cat takes up a individual corner. If you try to remove them I get told off.

And yes I've tried putting them at the bottom of the bed, but they are determined little sods.

Basically I'm under three thumbs.... one manicured and the other two furry.
