While it's a tough break, if he can be back by Mania weekend/the taping before, that might be a blessing in disguise. Have Ciampa go in a tear, vanquish everyone, claims there are no more heroes, only for Gargano to return and end his reign of terror at the Mania weekend Takeover.

Now I'm confuzzled. it looks more like Ciampa is just goading Jonny instead of saying he's out.

Was daydreaming a bit earlier and was thinking how Ciampa and Dream have got to be the best examples of guys reaching for the elusive brass ring haven't they? It's probably no surprise they're not on the main roster too. I know it's developmental and they should be using the show to hone their craft but the character development they've done and the little tweaks such as Dream's bespoke gear and Ciampa ruling Twitter would probably go down like a fart in a lift with Vince.

In fact serious question, is anyone else happy with the idea of NXT NOT being referenced to as aĀ feeder anymore and just being a true stand alone? Almost like aĀ true 3rd brand? (Keeping itā€™s current writers and integrity).

Have a proper training facility to get fresh talent to tv standard, so when particular guys come through who are more suited to Raw or SmackDown (such as Drew or EC3) they can head there directly. Whilst your Dreams etc can go to NXT.

What's TV standard though and what form would this facility take? NXT TV standard or main roster standard by current, err, standards? The PC is where the physical kinks should be worked out so mechanically the guys are ready to actually wrestle in front of their cameras. A lot of the fresh talent that's not deemed ready to go out in front of a WWE main roster television audience or have the experiences of, for instance, knowing how to work for the hard camera, or don't have big name recognition (e.g. AJ was ready) - they've already wrestled in front of live crowds and it's only working slightly more WWE style in front of cameras that need developing. Apart from the exceedingly rare case where they're starting from scratch with an MMA or football failure with zero pro experience, who spend more time in the PC than anyone else, clearly, it's only modifications to the existing lump of wrestler clay. That and in a lot of cases finding your character, and finding what about your act resonates with a live audience. This is the stuff you only develop (hence developmental, right?) by wrestling in front of both an audience and the cameras. Hence, the NXT television product, the vehicle through which the generic and nondescript Billie Kay and Peyton Royce grow into The Iiconics, The Velveteen Dream develops from vague concept to next big thing etc.

Short of just not rubber stamping NXT as "the developmentals" as though its denigrating, I'm not clear what you'd want the extra developmental facilities to be that they don't already have par excellence. Short of advocating a fourth roster.

Sorry, I appreciate my initial point reads as complete shite after reading your reply. The point I was trying to make is more focused utilisation of the PC and not simply sending everyone straight to NXT. For example, in the case of EC3, he doesnā€™t need to be in NXT, thereā€™s somewhat of a consensus that he is very much a mid card Raw performer based specifically on his in ring style.Ā To the point he doesnā€™t gel as well with the ā€˜typicalā€™ NXT style/concept. Iā€™m assuming he popped to the PC to ensure his fitness levels were up to scratch, but hen he was sent to NXT, which is almost like a knee jerk reaction now, simplyĀ because itā€™s there and they donā€™t have much for him to do on Raw or SD. From there heā€™ll be biding his time waiting for a call up.Ā

On top of that thereā€™s the mystique around whoā€™s getting called up during major PPV weekends. Basically, being promoted to RAW or SmackDown is deemed just that, a promotion and reward.

Now, I fully understand, it is that to all intents and purposes. Thatā€™s what it was intended as, Iā€™m not disputing that or knocking the fact at all. However, due to the way ā€˜someā€™ of the call ups have been utilised so far, and due to the fact that NXT keep knocking out some quality fucking TakeOverĀ events, my point is,Ā is there anyway that NXT can move away from that sub-promotion identity and become a brand which is considered an alternative, on parĀ brand. (Not one inĀ which itā€™s wrestlers wish to move on from.Ā

Or.... is it fine as it is and people are content with it being a feeder to Raw and SmackDown?
