Middlesbrough 3-1 Aston Villa

Ribery Scheweinsteiger

Eto'o

Rossi

An inspired performance by Boro goalkeeper Pepe Reina helped the Teessiders grab their second win of the season against tricky Aston Villa opposition. Villa took an early lead after capitalising on sloppy passing from the Boro midfield which led to Schewinsteiger to sweep home from the edge of the box

Boro soon equalized thanks to a fast counter attack which ended up with Ribery slotting home near the penalty spot after finding some space. Things got better for the Infant Hercules after they managed to grab the lead on the death of half time. The ball was fed into Eto'o on the edge of the box who turned and whacked it into the top corner passed a shocked Joe Hart.

The second half was a game of counter attacking football with both sides coming close to adding to their total, with the best of the chances falling to Eto'o who just needed to guide the ball into the empty net; instead he hit the side netting. Villa had a glorious chance to take a share of the spoils in the last minute, but the big man from Spain managed to smoother a one on one attempt from Falcao. Villa threw everyone forward from the resulting corner which was easily cleared by the Boro backline who managed to find Rossi on the halfway line. The Italian managed to shrug off two defenders and his fresh legs galloped away and slotted home past the isolated Joe Hart.

Villa created more chances and willl feel disappointed not to get anything from the game, but the Boro fans don't care. They are dreaming of the dizzy heights of 2nd bottom.

Middlesborough 1 Bohemians 3

A much needed win for Bohemians in a even game which looked to be heading for a draw. Robinho gave ethe Irish side an early lead when he cut in from the left and shot low in to the far corner. It looked like bohemians would extend their lead with Valencia constantly getting in behind the Boro left back creating opportunities which were wasted. Boro held on in the first half and came out very strongly in the second forcing chance after chance as Lloris and the cross bar kept the score at 1-0. They finally made the breakthrough after 76 minutes when a low cross wasn't dealt with and Etoo (?) squeezed the ball home from close range. Boro may have felt like they could win the game from here but it was Bohemians who would finish strongly, Valencia and Ganso both missing good chances to win the game. On 89 minutes though Ganso found the space in the box to slot home the goal which would secure the 3 points, minutes later adding his second with a well placed header after good work from Nene.

Robinho, Ganso x2

Etoo ?

Also had a very good game against Everton earlier in the week which ended 3-3. Rohpete once again taking points of me, this time courtesy of a last miute goal.
