Smegma Cake
Anyone ever suffer from these regularly? I've only ever had the occasional headache caused by work, kids or just general stress. However the last few days I've suffered from them quite badly. However after doing a bit of reading on the dreaded internet I've discovered it has a name. Ice Pick Headaches. Stabbing pains that last only a few seconds long but can occur anything from once a day to many over the course of the day. Â So any severe headache suffers here? What do you to to get rid of them or stop them flaring up?
LariatTom
Oh, headaches and migranes...my favourite topic! Â I had a crash while racing go-karts a few years ago which resulted in me almost having to spend my 18th in hospital before I (rather foolishly) realised I could discharge myself and go off to have my party. So that happened without me really getting any treatment apart from the doctors confirming I had a pretty hefty concussion and then saying they wanted to keep me in for a few nights to run some head scans and check everything was ok. Â Cue about six months of living with a near-constant migrane which came pretty close to destroying my A Levels. It's no longer a major problem for me, though I'd say I usually have a headache at least every other day. I think I'm that used to them these days that I just brush them off and don't let them bother me too much. In hindsight, I rather wish I'd not had an 18th and stayed in hospital. I've got friends who are doing medicine, or already fully qualified doctors and they're all pretty certain that the headaches are still related to the accident. Â When it comes to getting rid of them, I don't take any medication because there have been drug dependency problems in my family, though I'm probably overly cautious by avoiding things completely. I tend to either try to sleep them off if I've not got too much on during my day or use Kool 'n' Soothe gel sheets if things get really bad. I don't know the ins and outs of how they work, but the cooling effect seems to help me out a bit.
Smegma Cake
Sleep is the main issue for me, the past two nights the stabbing headache is almost constant. Only a few minutes apart and if I do drift off I'm usually woken in agony as it flares up. During the day I can handle it, even though its annoying as fuck, I just look a bit of a tit wincing every five minutes. Â At least you have a pretty good idea of what caused your constant headaches, mines have come out of no-where. I've never broken bones or had concussions, only my kneecap slipped out of place, so I can't place it to an injury or accident. Â Unlike you though, I'm hitting the anadin extra today, just because I've went the past 48 hours seeing if it'll go away by itself.

Been given Ibruprophen, Beta Blockers, Epilepsy stuff and Amitriptyline  I still have headaches and refuse to go back to the doctors because all they do is up my Amitriptyline. Pinc
Very rarely get them these days, but when I was younger I would occasionally get pretty intense migraines which were always preceded by the appearance of blind spots in my plain of vision. It wasn't safe to cross roads or do anything visuospatially demanding during their appearance. It was almost enjoyable, once I got used to it. Playing around with my vision etc.
wolveswrestling
It's very hard to find the root of headaches, but I have now got mine down to two reasons, the amount of salt in supermarket microwave meals, after having one will have proper pain above one eye for about hour, just gotta ride it out. The other one is when i have constipation and somehow this gives me a headace around the back of my head, well thats what i think anyway. Â Hope your's clear up soon. Smegma Cake
Well after talking to my doctor, it seems that previous pills he's given me for an unrelated issue have caused it. It does say on the label (Who the fuck reads them if the doc's prescribe them anyway?) that side effects could be brain pressure and severe headaches. So I've stopped taking those pills for a few days and taken some anti inflammatory medication. They're still there, but can't do anything if they persist till January 2nd when my nearest GP's opens back up. So I've just got to ride it out and take pain pills when they get bad. Â Still throbbing like a bitch when the pain killers wear off. Worst case scenario its not side effects from the previous medication, if that's the case then I'm shitting myself. Brain scans are on the horizon if my doctor is to believed :S
Ravenhill Promotions
I suffer with headaches, but I put that down to the hours I work, the stress of it all and the fact I only average four or five hours sleep a night. Asprin I tend to find is the best cure for mine. Â Anyone tried viagra? Now the morning after that is the worst headace ever, the type of headache where you feel like someone is poking you in the eyes!

I'm hoping this is just a temporary thing and these don't last forever. I don't know how people with constant migraines cope with them
Shovanist Pig
Try l-arginine as it can provide migraine headache relief.  Here you go  I'll give it a try, thanks. I'm hoping this is just a temporary thing and these don't last forever. I don't know how people with constant migraines cope with them  You could probably do with taking about 2-4 day. Don't worry about exceeding the stated dose as it's harmless.  I take about 10 a day to get a good pump while working out. I probably wouldn't advice taking as much as that though as very high dosages can actually cause headaches and surely make them worse if you're already suffering from them.  To treat migraine it works well when consumed with ibuprofen. Smegma Cake
That was a main issue, if I could take these with painkillers. The main advice I've had is to sleep it off, but the pain is that bad and because it comes every few minutes constantly. Sleep is absolutely pointless. Shovanist Pig
Yeah it's fine. L-arginine combined with Ibuprofen is known to reduce migraine headache faster than just ibuprofen alone. Â If anything, hopefully it can take the edge off the pain a bit. I feel for you as if they're only lasting a few seconds it must be really aggravating. Smegma Cake
That's my main concern, the fact they come and go but are literally minutes apart. Sometimes less than that. Rather than just an lingering dull pain, its a stabbing pain on my left hand side, all the way round. Its terrible. Â An all over headache/migraine, I know its just that and it'll pass. This is three/four days, constantly other than when the painkillers help, but they don't all the time. My vision is slightly blurry too, which is frustrating. More because I got a brand spanking new 3DTV for Christmas and can't test it out yet haha! Â I know people who've had headaches, constantly, sometimes for weeks on end. I'm four days in and at my wits end. Fuck knows how the Chris Nowinski's of this world don't top themselves I'll never know. Â I'll try anything if you said it would help.
