PepperPlunge
Thank you, you've been a brilliant help. Sorry for so many questions but I'm confident in what I'm doing now. Thanks again.
Merzbow
No problem, i'm a bit of a geek for building PC's. Hope it all goes well.
PepperPlunge
Which 500W PSU would you recommend? How much am I looking at paying for a fairly quiet, reliable one?
PepperPlunge
Just fitted PSU and graphics card in. Started it up but there's no display and no start up beep. Â I mever uninstalled the graphics drivers before plugging all of this stuff in. Would that make a difference? I'm not sure what I've done wrong. PepperPlunge
I plugged the old graphics card in too and still no beep and no display so I guess it's not to do with oxidation. I feel a bit uneasy about that screwdriver technique as I don't know what I'm doing. I get the.feeling I've fucked my PC up and paid to do so. Â I might take it into a PC repair place. My mate's brother said the same happened to him, he took it to a repair place and they gave him am adapter which made it work. I'm curious as to what the adapter could be as I've got some that came with my PSU and graphics card.
Paid Members SiMania Posted December 16, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 16, 2011 Have you tried the old psu and old graphics card?
PepperPlunge
I've tried the old graphics card but not the old PSU. The PSU took an eternity to fit so I weren't really up for taking it out, fitting the old one, potentially finding out it doesn't work and fitting the new one. Â The PC powers up, just there's no beep or display.
PepperPlunge
Am I missing something? I've read that you need to plug the monitor into the motherboard. I use HDMI to connect it to my TV as I have no monitor. On the graphics card, I've plugged two 6 pin PCI-E cables into the back from the PSU to start it up. Merzbow
The monitor/TV will plug right into the graphics card. I would maybe test the old CPU though, revert back to the old card as well for a test.
