How can you really look at someone as a friend if you have never actually met or spoken to them in the flesh? I think it's acceptable to call people on forums like this mates, but friends, not sure about that one. Â Uh. That's an odd argument.. What's the difference between a mate and a friend? Â Different people have different opinions on this, but from my way of looking at it, a mate is someone you get on with, share a joke, share a tear, do a favour for, spend a bit of time with etc. A friend is someone who you have a deeper reliance on emotionally.
