Can't bloody find it now but I did a blog entry a few months back on a therapist who claimed that the paucity of porn access back in the 80s and early 90s was partially to blame for comparatively less liberal attitudes towards sex and sexuality. Of course, you can have too much of a good thing. And in the wrong hands, it can be abused and lead to problematic behaviour. But there is also a much wider spectrum of porn available now, and people are discovering through it their particular likes and kinks and sexual leanings - and that may not have happened without easy porn access. It's about the knock-on effect PornHub and free porn sites had on the actors and porn industry as a whole. There's a good episode on how the access to free porn effects young kids. There are upsides and downsides to the added availability of porn in the internet era but as per usual, the media tend to focus on the negatives rather than the positives. Even so, there have been some excellent pieces on the positive side of the spectrum in places like The Daily Beast (from Aurora Snow especially) and Forbes lately. James Deen is one I've seen do this with several co-stars, which is ironic as I've heard of this guy being championed as "women's favorite pornstar". I'm not sure if that's changed since the allegations surrounding him. I believe he ran a service on his website, don't know if he still is, where female fans can pay to have sex with him.
