Meltzer's saying the following names have been signed for the new lucha show that's debuting on El Rey in October:

John Morrison
Hernandez
Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Joey Ryan
Ricky Reyes
Fenix

More AAA and PWG names are expected. The tapings are currently scheduled for September 6th and 7th in LA. AAA have a TV taping in Mexico on the 7th so anyone working that taping can probably be ruled out for the US ones.

AAA is somewhat involved with the show but the extent of their involvement seems to be providing a few luchardors and Konnan suggesting some indy names to use on the show. Everything else, from the production to the writing, is being done by others.

AAA luchadors Blue Demon Jr., Sexy Star, Drago, Fenix and Pentagon Jr. have been officially announced for the El Rey show, which is now called "Lucha Underground". More names to be announced soon. The show debuts on October 8th, Wednesday, at 8 PM (so it won't clash with TNA Impact).

That's an interesting set of luchadores to pick really. AAA has been quite high on Fenix in the past, Drago has an easy character to market (AAA don't seem all that fussed about him sadly), Pentagon Jr is mad, Sexy Star is a woman with a mask (somewhat surprised Taya didn't get the gig but maybe she wouldn't work with the storyline they're doing) and Blue Demon Jr is the biggest name they've got for American audiences that isn't Sin Cara. He's missed AAA shows in the past year though so be interesting to see if he makes all the recordings.

AAA has started uploading Triplemania on their Youtube page. It's them uploading their tv coverage of the show so it'll show up weekly. The first part has Alberto Del Rio showing charisma, entrances, more entrances, yet more entrances, cruiserweights injuring themselves (warning: contains Jack Evans and Joe Lider), entrances, and a bloody womens title match.

The CMLL anniversary show will apparently air live and free on Terra again this year. It will definately (ahem) feature Ultimo Guerrero vs Atlantis in a mask vs mask match. That's a huge match in Mexico, and was the one everyone thought we'd be getting last year.

There'll be more news and details on luchablog as always.

That's awesome news.  I don't watch lucha as religiously as I was doing 1994-1997 and then 2004-2010ish, but I stayed up to watch the free stream of the Anni show last year and it was flawless.  From a technology standpoint, anyway.  I reckon I'll start watching all the weekly TV in the run-up to the big one too.  Ultimo Guerrero vs. Atlantis, if it does actually go ahead this year, is simply massive.

The first episode of Lucha Underground (El Rey's lucha show) was taped yesterday. Here's what they taped:

Blue Demon Jr. vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Lord of Havoc (Matt Cross) vs. Sexy Star

Johnny Mundo (John Morrison) vs. Prince Puma (Ricochet under a mask) - said to have been a great match

Ezekiel Jackson, Ricky Reyes & Lil Cholo were also on the show (as a heel group).

El Mesias (doing a masked gimmick and being managed by Maxine of NXT fame), Martin from the last Tough Enough, B-Boy and Famous B had dark matches.

Matt Striker & Vampiro are the announce team, Konnan & Chavo are the agents. Show debuts October 8th.
