The Morecambe Raffle - for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation

Proceeds from The Morecambe Raffle at XWA LastFight at the Prom will go to a very worthy cause. We will be raising money for The Rosemere Cancer Foundation who provide support and facilities to cancer patients in Preston, and who have been instrumental in helping with the treatment of a very dear friend of ours.

Steve Weatherhead, manager of Rita's Cafe on Morecambe promenade opposite our former and much-missed venue The Morecambe Dome, is a longtime supporter of XWA Wrestling. As a sponsor and as a fan, Steve and his family have been to many of our shows in Morecambe over the years. A big character in Morecambe with a fantastic sense of humour and a warm heart, Steve's support for XWA Wrestling went so far that he even agreed to appear in one of our best and funniest ever XWA YouTube videos back in 2009. Steve is the cafe worker shown in the video as Johnny Phere goes on his pre-XWA Vendetta campaign around Morecambe, hoping to get reinstated. Steve's comic performance that day had us all in stitches, especially when he offered the demented Phere a cooked breakfast and then tried to rally his customers into chanting "WE WANT PHERE!"

You can see this classic video here

Sadly last September, Steve, who was previously in perfect health, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Since then, Steve has undergone around 30 courses of radiotherapy and two operations, and is awaiting a third. Throughout his illness, Steve has shown his customary humour and dignity, even continuing to serve his customers in Rita's Cafe without complaint and making everybody welcome as he always has. The Rosemere Cancer Foundation have been superb to Steve during the past 12 months and he has nothing but praise for the way they have helped him throughout his ordeal, and Steve remains determined to finally beat the disease and get on with his life.

The Rosemere Foundation charity provides additional facilities and equipment for patients being treated at the Cancer Centre in Preston and the local Cancer Units throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria. The Rosemere Cancer Foundation also funds vital local research, helping to provide the very best care possible for patients across the region.

Because of how we feel about Steve, and because we know this is an incredibly worthwhile cause which touches the lives of so many, XWA Wrestling has decided to donate all proceeds from The Morecambe Raffle on October 8 to the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, when Steve and his family will be our special VIP guests at the show.

Please help us to help Steve and others in a similar situation by buying a raffle ticket on Saturday, October 8, because you will make a small but vital difference to somebody's life.

LATEST LASTFIGHT NEWS

The XWA website is back up and running now at www.xwawrestling.com after a redesign. We'll be adding more news and features to the new site as we go along.

Tickets are still available for our next show XWA LastFight at the Prom on Saturday, October 8 at The Carleton in Morecambe. The full line up is as follows...

MAIN EVENT - SIX MAN TAG SUPER CLASH!

The Ascension (Alex Shane), Colossus, 'Showstealer' Nathan Cruz v Sam Slam, 'Psychotic Warrior' Johnny Phere and 'Heavyweight House of Pain' Stixx

This is bound to be a fantastic and heated main event, full of star power and clashing egos! Don't forget the stip. If Sam's team wins, whoever scores the fall gets a GUARANTEED British Heavyweight Title shot at The Ascension at Goldrush. And Alex Shane has promised no funny business, no sneak attacks, no substitutes, no trying to weasel out of it. He WILL put the belt on the line one on one on Saturday, February 4 2012 at XWA's first show of the year at The Carleton SHOULD Sam's team emerge victorious, so confident is he that his team of himself, the super talented Nathan Cruz and the dangerous Colossus will be too much for a divided trio of Sam, Phere and Stixx who will all be trying to win the match for their own individual purposes...

BUT if The Ascension's team win, then Sam Slam, currently 50% owner of the XWA and a real thorn in the side of his unwilling business partner Greg 'The Truth' Lambert, will sign over his share in the company to The Authority giving them 100% control over XWA. The stakes are high and that's why this match is called THE POWER GAME and is one NOT TO MISS!

Also on the show:

The RockStar Spud versus Axl Rage

Former cohorts in Team RockStar collide in a battle of teacher versus student! Entertainment guaranteed!

Joey Hayes v Max Angelus

One of Britain's best in Joey Hayes takes on the prodigious skills of Nottingham's House of Pain graduate Max Angelus.

El Ligero v 'Serious' CJ Banks v Ricky J McKenzie

A Triple Threat Match to decide the number one contender to the XWA Best of the North West Cup held by the injured Jynkz, who will be guest timekeeper for the bout and have the best view in the house of his next challenger!

'Manchester Devil' Declan O'Connor v JD Sassoon

Declan O'Connor wants to reunite with his former best friend Joey Hayes and put The Manchester Massive back together. Joey doesn't want to know because he feels he can't trust Declan. The Blackpool Blonds are stirring the pot. Can Declan earn Joey's trust by giving Sassoon a good kicking?

Also on the show we will be raising money for The Rosemere Cancer Foundation through the ever popular Morecambe Raffle where you can WIN A TELEVISION as first prize!

And in a first for the XWA, because of the ongoing friction between co-owners Greg Lambert and Sam Slam, we will have not one, but TWO Masters of Ceremonies on the night! Regular ring announcer Richard Parker has been suspended for daring to speak out against The Authority on Twitter. So the loudmouthed Gob on the Tyne STALLION, appointed by Lambert, and FutureShock's resident mouthpiece 'THE VOCAL TERRORIST' JESSE ELLIS, appointed by Sam, will BOTH get to run the show on October 8!

Doors 7pm, bell time 7.30pm. Get your tickets NOW!

Johnny Phere vows to Ram Slam Greg Lambert!

Tuesday, 04 October 2011 19:21

This Saturday night in the six-man tag team main event of XWA LastFight at the Prom, the team of Sam Slam, Johnny Phere and Stixx take on The Authority. Should Sam's team win, the wrestler who scores the winning fall will get an XWA Heavyweight Title shot. Should The Authority's team win, then Sam Slam will have to resign as co-owner of the XWA and hand over his 50% stake in the XWA to The Authority, giving them total control of the company.

'The Psychotic Warrior' Johnny Phere has been driven to the end of his tether by the actions of The Authority over the past 18 months. Now just days before The Power Game at XWA LastFight at the Prom, he has vowed to end his war with the XWA's evil dictatorship this Saturday night in Morecambe, finish The Authority once and for all and bring Greg 'The Truth' Lambert down with him!

Watch this video filmed inside Johnny Phere's spartan flat in Morecambe, known as The Lair. It's where he trains, sleeps and thinks about nothing else but his extremely personal rivalry with The Authority. Judge for yourself if these words and actions are those of a man who is utterly convinced that he will end a year and a half of torture at the hands of The Authority and the years of torment at the hands of Greg Lambert by Ram Slamming the hated promoter and manager this Saturday night at The Carleton....or if they are the words and actions of a deranged and desperate individual who will mentally self-destruct this Saturday and be a liability for his team-mates in the six-man tag team main event.

Because if Phere can't hold it together on Saturday night and his team loses, then Sam Slam will be gone as co-owner, and The Authority will be stronger than ever.

Please DO NOT adjust your set in the opening 30 seconds of this video.

Sadly Jynkz has had to withdraw from Saturday night's show. Recently the XWA Best of the North West Champion underwent nasal surgery and was expecting to be medically cleared in time to compete at XWA LastFight but clearance has not come through in time.

However Jynkz will still be there on Saturday as guest timekeeper for the following replacement match...

TRIPLE THREAT MATCH TO DECIDE THE NEXT CHALLENGER FOR JYNKZ'S XWA BEST OF THE NORTH WEST CUP...

EL Ligero versus Ricky J McKenzie versus CJ Banks!

What with whats been said in the last couple of GPW blogs regarding Lambert I've already got this down as a work. Too easy, cheap and predictable. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong but as somebody who wasn't even there and is cynical at best this smacks of fucking storyline! Shame.EDIT : I will agree though, as somebody who has been to a few XWA and FWA shows in the past for some reason I do find Greg Lambert to be such a punchable prick. Nothing to do with his on screen character but he just has one of those faces/auras.
