Fog Dude
European Champion Group: Members Posts: 2,773 Joined: 20-March 02 From: Stretford, Manchester Member No.: 728 Eh??? Don't know what you were on when you posted Saturday morning Rory, but bizarrely copying ultimo's site stats was followed by a one-point performance, the worst of the round. It feels strange wrapping up a week without linking to the table, but you're lucky this is the one time I don't upload one. Funnily enough ultimo was the only person to agree with sivy that Derby would win at home against Brum, and therefore not gift him bonus points. So the person who spent most of the last campaign rooted to the foot of the standings has given himself a 41-point cushion over second-placed vanhalen, who is in turn a further point ahead of smp. Nobody made it into double figures in a tough opening week, but sivy would've been top scorer anyway without the bonuses after scoring 9 in an inspired performance. He's already more than a fifth of the way to his total for all of last season. Next time out is just going to be an ordinary round, so he'll still be top when the first table is posted next week. The first chance for someone to overtake him will be another D2D in week 3, but past experience suggests that's far from a given, as people tend to get their D2D wrong. Everyone who took part this week has a D2D team, as do 2 potential newbies who took the time to register one just a few weeks ago but now seem to have forgotten about this. Twenty-two participants isn't a bad number to be going on with though. To the matches then, and the aforementioned home win for the Rams has to go down as one of the hardest to guess, even though some later pickers might have just bet against them to try nabbing bonus points, the predictions were going against County even before sivy showed his hand, and nobody needs to take a risk on an unlikely result this early anyway. On the other hand, Lyon's win at Nancy on Saturday night rescued a point or three for many to save them from complete embarrassment, as did Brighton's preposterously late winner versus Donny at their new Falmer home. Fewer people than expected plumped for promoted Saints to ease past Leeds in the evening game, whereas Boro's draw with Pompey was good for the odd point here and there. Scores at London Road and Upton Park (the latter in one of the Beeb's rare live outings) were considered somewhat of a shock, but not as astonishing as this week's least fruitful result: St
