WildSybianRider
Surprised this hasn't been done (unless I've missed it).    LIVERPOOL   --------------------------- Pepe Reina ------------------------------  Markus Babbel -- Sami Hyypia -- Daniel Agger -- Glen Johnson  -------------------- Xabi Alonso -- Dietmar Hamann ---------------  Steve McManaman -------------------------- Luis Garcia / Suarez  -------------------------- Gerrard -----------------------------------  ------------------------------------- Torres --------------------------   (too young to really judge anything from much before the Millenium)   Hamann over Mascherano was probably the closest call. But I don't think Didi Hamann ever had a bad game for Liverpool. Left back wasn't easy. Aurelio never plays and I fucking despise John Arne Riise (would have pushed Konchesky in my worst XI) so Johnson gets the nod. Steve Finnan was unfortunate. Suarez will displace Little Luis by September, in all probability. In fact, now. But everyone loves Luis Garcia yeah. Half-tempted to put Berger in on the left so Johnson can cut inside but he suffered with injuries so much, and he's no Steve McManaman. Bit heart-breaking to include Torres but he's far and away the best striker I've seen play for Liverpool and he remains far more likeable than dickhead Michael Owen.   EDIT - fucking hell, Lucas. He's also unlucky but we've had insanely good centre mids for the past ten years.
Paid Members Burchill's Buddy Posted August 1, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted August 1, 2011 I think we've done this before at some point, but why the hell not. If we're only doing it on player's we've seen regularly then mine's from about 1989/90 onwards.  --------------------------- Schmeichel ------------------------------  G. Neville ------ Ferdinand ------------- Vidic ------------- Irwin  -------------------- Scholes ------ Keane ---------------  Beckham -------------------------------------------------- Giggs  -------------------------- Cantona-----------------------------------  ------------------------------------- Van Nistelrooy----------------   The obvious omission being Cristiano Ronaldo.....you can't upset the treble winning midfield (the best midfield I have seen in my lifetime by a long way), but I'd love to see Cantona feeding RVN. Perhaps I'll have  Subs: Bruce, Robson, Hughes, Rooney, Ronaldo, Van Der Sar
Paid Members Cod Eye Posted August 1, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted August 1, 2011 Ohhh, i love things like this:  Barnsley FC:   GK: David Watson RB: Nicky Eaden CB: Mick McArthy CD: Arjan De Zeeuw LB: Garry Flemming  RW:Craig Hignett CM: Neil Redfearn CM: Darren Sheridan LW: Ronnie Glavin(out of position but need to fit the little scottish wizard in somewhere)  CF: Ashley Ward CF: David Hirst(Tommy Taylor should proberbly be here but i dont know enough about the bloke)...  Subs:  GK: Heinz Muller S1: Darren Barnard S2: John Beresford S3: Brian Howard S4: Clint Marcelle S5: John Hendrie  Think that team would get us out of the Championship again! If we're only doing it on player's we've seen regularly then mine's from about 1989/90 onwards.   Yeah, I vaguely remember one but couldn't find it.  Was going to go back further but I don't think I trust eleven year old Sybian's judgement so much. Maybe Rigobert Song wasn't actually amazing   Subs for us isn't easy because of our surfeit of boss midfielders (poor pre-injury Momo Sissoko) - Friedel, Carragher, Finnan / Arbeloa, Lucas, Mascherano, Garcia, Fowler. I feel like I'm forgetting someone obvious.

Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted August 1, 2011 Awards Moderator Share Posted August 1, 2011 Are these teams meant to reflect your club's best XI based how well players performed during their time at your club, or on players at their peak (even if that was at another club)? Â Being a Palace fan, that'd make a huge difference for my best XI.

Yeah, to be honest that was one of the choices which made me ask the question. I think many Blues would agree with you though, given how much Dunc is idolised for what he did during his time at Goodison. Also, would Kevin Campbell warrant an honourary mention? I don't know much about his performances but a lot of my blue mates hold him in high regard.
WildSybianRider
Butch, I was a touch too young for Rush. Think his last two decent-ish* seasons (before the one where he barely played), I would have been five or six. Â Â * decent-ish by Rush's standards. Amazing for some shite like Super Kevin Campbell. Â Â I was going for selections based on performance at your club, yeah. So no Edgar Davids for you blud.
