Paid Members Kookoocachu Posted July 28, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted July 28, 2011 I'm not sure what LHA is, however the rates they give change depending upon area and which council it is, the reason you'd get more in London is because the cheapest places are more expensive than say here, in the midlands. And you're right about the way it works. What you'd do is find a place and then apply for the benefits, it takes about a month to setup so you should have the money for the first time you need to pay rent. LHA = Local Housing allowance. Basically the rate they think you should pay for properties in the area and how much they will give you. ie; 1 bed/2 bed/3bed

Paid Members Mike Castle Posted July 28, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted July 28, 2011 The best option really would be to go to the local CAB, as they'll have all the information you need regarding it, and also be able to find out any benefits you're entitled to that you might not know about. Might even know about places that are looking for people.
