The King Of Swing Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 I can watch high flying matchs all day as long as there is meaning to the jumping, give me Liger Vs Pilman over anything Jack Evans related.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted July 15, 2011 Paid Members Posted July 15, 2011 I think everyone would agree that Pac is better than Evans. Pac atleast looks like a proper wrestler and he seems to know what he's doing too.
NEWM Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 The only flippy floppy match I've ever truly loved was that MCMG/Speed Muscle TNA farce on an episode of Impact where they were promoting the World X Cup. It was about ten minutes, featured about a million moves, and Speed ran quick as fuck. It was so ridiculous that I couldn't tear myself away. Normally, I fast forward these matches because I know TNA put the best bits in the highlight package at the end anyway. And actually, watching clips actually make it have the tiniest bit of psychology if you're happy to make it up in your own head. Destination X was a nice quick watch, as a result.
Mr Kennedy Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 I think the only time I really enjoyed a Jack Evans match was at ROH's SOTF 04 and that was only because Danielson literally stretched him in half. Was brilliant to watch.
Main Event Jobber Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I liked Jack Evans but his recent matches on Impact have changed my mind for one fact he looks like a shitearse wrestler with two big fucking holes in his boots and he looked trampy as fuck. I liked him better as Mini Eminem
Richie Freebird Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Do you think that there is no place whatsoever in mainstream wrestling for such guys as Jack Evans? Â No. They don
Main Event Jobber Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I will give Evans one thing like the landng of his 630 looks like it will hurt like fuck. He just lands on there chest with his full weight
Paid Members GlennCullen Posted July 16, 2011 Paid Members Posted July 16, 2011 I enjoy it, fuck you all. Then again I don't take wrestling seriously at all these days so don't particularly care if the psychologies out of whack. Small white boy flipping all over the place entertains me.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted July 16, 2011 Moderators Posted July 16, 2011 Sometimes I think mainstream fanboys just use
pain-giver Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I do love matches full of flippy moves. Here are some flippy stuff for your enjoyment: Â Kota Ibushi - Standing Corkscrew Moonsault & Standing Moonsault Combination Ibushi and Ishimori matrix dodge Hurricarana reversed into yoshi tonic Double moonsault
Reznor Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Some people do just ignorantly label anyone who takes to the air with that tag, but most of them are just being awkward for the sake of it. They'll realise as well as anyone else the positive impact the highflying style has had on wrestling, and they'll know that, like every other aspect, it has its good and it has its bad. Â I love highflying, so long as it looks good, fits into an otherwise solid match, they calm down and realise that less is more, and the flips aren't completely unnecessary. It shouldn't come as any surprise that the worst culprits tend not to make it to the big leagues, I don't think I could name anyone offhand in the WWF who I hated because they were too flipfloppy. Unfortunately, CMLL in Mexico is getting quite bad for it these days and it's starting to spoil what was once one of my favourite feds. The problem there doesn't seem to be so much that the luchadors are bad and don't know any better, it's more a deliberate change of direction and style which has resulted in highflying losing most of its impact. Â I think the worst culprits in the US would be easiest to find if you went back to the early '00s and scoured the indies - shit like Red, The Maximos, Brian XL, Rick Blade (he of hilarious missed swanton infamy!), Ruckus, Teddy Hart, that group in RoH with the druggie gimmick for example. As well as the flippy spot monkeys, I also hate those tag teams who are defined by silly, 100mph over elabrorate double teams and sequences. Like Generation Me, Sabin/Shelley and those Backseat Boy clowns. There's one double team move in particular that i'd say sums up the absurdity of it all, I think it might've been done by Generation me; It's a double hiptoss followed by a double dropkick, only that would be too plain and not flashy enough for them, so they both do stereo backflips in between. Just for the sake of it. It's absolutely ridiculous looking. Â I don't particularly care much for Jack Evans but i'm a bit surprised at the level of hate towards him. I can take or leave him, but I see him as a novelty act who can hide his limitations in tags, 4 ways, stuntfests etc. If he was pushed down your throat as a prominent singles guys, I would probably be of the same view, but I can't see them ever going down that road.
Paid Members Statto Posted July 16, 2011 Paid Members Posted July 16, 2011 I'm with this, I'm not a fan of flippy-dips usually but I'm a fan of Jack Evans. I don't like all his stuff, and I do in general prefer a slower pace, but I'll happily watch Evans and enjoyed his recent TNA work. Â I have to say, I too have greatly enjoyed Jack Evans in TNA recently. Â I was, of couse, enjoying Austin Aries elbowing him straight in his stupid fucking pasty, break-dancing face after his latest showboat. I actually punched the air when that happened.
Richie Freebird Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 What an absolute load of fucking bullshit. You're alright Richie, but you don't half talk some real arse at times. Â That was just bait Butchie Babes. You know I understand our sport and everyone
Paid Members Tommy! Posted July 16, 2011 Paid Members Posted July 16, 2011 I don't mid fast paced, high flying matches or anything like that. I don't even dislike a clearly deeply planned spot heavy match if it's at least well put together. Â Too often its just throwing tons of shit out there because its cool and it makes what they do instantly forgettable because there's no meaning behind it. I don't have any objections to dives and flips if they mean something and have some sort of place in the match. When its just a blur of MOVEZ~ and flips I zone it out and think about something else because I'm watching things that don't feel like they have any cause and effect to them.
