METAL ON METAL
Its gotta be steroids, HGH or some other banned substance, surely? Â That would be the only medical failure that would get you sacked, well unless its hepatitis or something.

They send the blood work off and it comes back some time after the fight. Hence why fighter's always get caught after not before.
METAL ON METAL
After watching the video again, Dana doesn't seem as pissed as he would be if it were for banned substances - personally the emphasis he put on "will never fight in the UFC again" makes me think its an incurable case of hepatitis or another similar illness. Swift89
Perhaps he was at such a high weight going into the medical that the doctor said it wouldn't be safe for him to cut the amount of weight he needed to in the time left.

But hasn't his camp said in their statement in the last hour that he would've made the weight easily?  Its all quite confusing really.

Ceej
PITTSBURGH -- Former UFC middleweight contender Nate Marquardt was not medically cleared Saturday by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission, and has been scratched from his welterweight fight on Sunday against Rick Story. Â No reason was given for the commission's decision not to clear Marquardt, who was scheduled to make his UFC welterweight debut at Consol Energy Center. Â "Right now we are going to respect Nate's privacy, his medical privacy," said Kelly Crigger, who is the director of media communications for Alchemist MMA (Marquardt's publicist). "He was just not cleared. Â "He should be back in action very soon. He wants to apologize to his fans, friends and family. Nate is very disappointed; he really wanted to make his welterweight debut." Â With Marquardt unable to compete, the 'UFC on Versus 4' main event will feature heavyweights Cheick Kongo against Pat Barry. Â Franklin McNeil covers mixed martial arts and boxing for ESPN.com. If he came in today ridiculously overweight with no chance of making it and hadn't made the UFC aware that he was struggling then Dana would be pissed that he just ruined their main event. As Metal On metal said though, his camp have said he was on target to make weight, and according to the most reliable source on the internet Wikipedia) Johnson's 2 counts of coming in over the limit were 6 and 7.5lbs. There is no way this is because he was over weight
Tommy Atkins
I don't think Dana would go as far as banning him from UFC for life for not making weight, or for steroids come to that. It must be something else.

This most likely isn't the case, but if it was I could easily see Dana cutting him because of it.
