Kate's diary entries details how she didn't feel a bond with Maddelaine.

I have never heard of this, never seen her diary and if this true then it would be a little over the top to off your eldest child because you didn't feel a bond with them.

The diary was seized as evidence, and then leaked to the Portugese press. Its validity has never been contested.

Friends appearing in the photo's taken at the tapas bar, yet originally claiming that they didn't fly out until later

This is most likely media bullshit because they need to blame someone. The parents get blamed first if it is a child, the husband if it is his wife etc.

Nope. This was one of the first discrepencies in the McCann's statements that raised suspicions.

The alleged use of sedatives on the children.

Yeah ALLEGED "oh the doctors are evil and knocking their kids out so they can go on the piss" Highly unlikely to be true.

Whereas "oh the doctors are just abandoning their kids in an unlocked apartment so they can go out on the piss" is perfectly fine.

The McCanns (Kate in particular) refusing to answer questions set by the Portugese investigators.

They didn't want to ask questions they wanted to force a confession out of her to save Portugals toruism. Would you take as small child to the resort they did even if you didn't let them leave your sight you would still be worried 24/7.

Yes I would, because I've never put my drinking habits ahead of my daughter.

The "Find Maddie" fund being used for mortgage payments.

This is possibly true but they were both doctors with a lot of cahs so probably had savings.

No possiblies about it. The McCanns confirmed it.

Maddelaine's DNA being found in the boot of a rental vehicle, not rented until after the disappearance. Kate's excuse was that this was down to used nappies being shoved into the back of the car in their speedy packing up. Why would she take the (unwrapped) nappies with her? Why would she even have kept them from before the disappearance
?

Simple to do she may have picked up loads of stuff shoved in the back of a car a nappy used the night before may have been left on the floor or side etc.

Yeah, loads of people leave used nappies lying around their holiday villas. They smell wonderful in the heat. Where are those nappies now? If they were so important that old Kate felt she needed to keep them (and don't forget, Maddie hadn't gone missing at this point), what has she done with them since?

I dont really see an issue with them using the money to pay off their mortgage. Seems like a logical enough step in them looking to dedicate their time completely to looking for their daughter. They got millions in donations from celebrities in aid of their search, so the mortgage payment would only be a small percentage of that money. If they didnt use the money to pay off the mortgage, then surely they would have had to keep working pretty much full time to pay it, and thus not have been as available to continue searching. Paying off the mortgage means they could focus fully on looking, so it kinda makes sense to pay it off. No?

Added to the fact that it's not possible to obtain DNA from faeces unless there is blood within and still is very unlikely.

All very very suspiscious.

There's a megathread on the subject here: http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h...cCanns+are+back

Very interesting reading and accompanying links. It's amazing just how little evidence there is to support the official story, whereas there are countless examples of inconsistencies of their story, circumstantial evidence that while not proving guilt certainly paint them in a very negative light.

It says a lot that they have spent less of their "Find Maddie" fund on investigators than they have on injunctions against people who implicate them. People donated money to help them find their girl, NOT to help protect them against perfectly valid public criticisms of their conduct.

Just go to that thread and have a look. The latest posts have some very thought provoking stuff.

Here's a story that should make you stop and think

A former casino croupier who made television appeals for his 'missing' wife to get in touch has admitted killing her before dumping her dismembered body on waste ground

...

Detectives believe Quy became obsessed with the thrill of having an audience watching his "grief", and was carried away at suddenly being the centre of attention.

Also, what the hell is this "perfect little genitals" quote she's apparently written in her book? What a fucked up nutter.

This may make sense, but can you defend their use of the fund to seek injunctions against people making statements that paint them in a negative light? Like the head of the Portuguese investigation, whose book was banned from publication in the UK or translation into English.

Protecting their image has absolutely fuck all to do with finding their daughter. There is no excuse for them using the funds in this way. Naturally though, this fact hasn't been touched in the media.

As I understand it, it's generally believed by both the portugese police and the portugese media/public, that they killed her themselves.

For me, the fact that they are STILL chasing media attention over the case points more towards them being guilty than innocent. At some point in any missing persons' case, there's a point at which people eventually accept the missing person is dead (or not coming back) and try and move on with their lives. Unless of course you're addicted to the attention, and so deep into your own bullshit that you've started to believe it.

I kinda shocked reading here and other places online that most ppl seem to think the way I do over this I often don't say much when it gets brought up as I thought I was in the minority

I wonder if when the media realise that most of the public (and therefore most of their readers/viewers) are against them if they will turn on them to?

I heard that the book has sold really well and made them over a million quid. I can't understand why anyone would want to read it, it's not like there's a happy ending there. Has anyone on here (apart from steveo2007) bought it?

It's good that I was on your mind.

I suspect the McCann's may have been involved. Perhaps an accidental death, they panicked, hid the body, called the police it all went a bit mental on the side of the media, and they're just hiding the secret.

If she was actually kidnapped, then I think more questions should have been asked about their parenting skills in leaving their children alone.

Whoa that's like 124 pages. Could you not link us to certain pages worth reading? As I doubt I will go through all 124 pages.

Hence I said megathread. There is a lot of stuff to trawl through there. When the thread first started people were giving the McCanns the benefit of the doubt. Now, it's a free for all of picking holes in their story. Page 71 onwards has the recent discussion in the wake of their most recent appeal.

One interesting/horrifying post off the top of my head (not really, I had to search to find it) that i'll just quote verbatim

Search for Gaspar.

Thanks for that. I know you did say Megathread wasn't knocking you just didn't want to go through all 124 pages if it picks up at a certain point (laziness I know!)
