The final scores went in the original post at full time last night, swiftly followed by the table going in its normal place. Some big scorelines among our set of 10, but that didn't translate into high scoring by the participants. Only The Game made it into double figures, and there was no single outright lowest scorer. The gap at the top is closed, and whilst it got bigger at the other end, that may be because sivy has finally thrown in the towel. If that's the case, it could be an interesting battle in the final few weeks between ultimo and smp as they struggle to avoid the wooden spoon.

By far the easiest result to guess was the draw at Ewood Park, with most players getting at least one point from it. Apart from that only the Scottish and German matches were any good in terms of exact scores, though the home wins at the Reebok and White Hart Lane also proved fruitful. Not many people foresaw West Brom's victory at the Stadium of Light, and certainly not by the odd goal in five, while a surprising number didn't expect Man City to roll over so easily at Anfield. Over in Spain, some thought Betis would win on the road, but not in such a thriller, and though quite a few went for the draw at Rayo Vallecano, it was too much to ask to predict the sides involved would share six goals.

You may be wondering why we've had 2 Xerez matches on the card in recent weeks. The first was because I used to play as them in season mode on an old edition of FIFA, simply because I wanted to try my luck in the second tier of a foreign league and was attracted to their name as it was the only team in the game that began with an X. They reappeared this week because I made an acquaintance from that town here in Mons who just happens to be my age (and gorgeous), which is a rarity among all the student types I normally hang around with. Turns out though, that the use of the old X spelling by the football club is idiosyncratic, and people down there actually spell the name of the town with a J. :/

Coming up in a mo, a card with more matches abroad than here in Blighty, and though there's still no D2D, for the next 2 rounds you get to find out whose D2D it would've been had they not quit earlier in the campaign! How intriguing...

About three/four years ago I spent one afternoon on a vineyard tour there which took place indoors right in the middle of a rain-storm. I Wish I'd bought some of that sherry back.

As for the game I think I'll stick to missing Saturdays
