Paid Members DEF Posted March 29, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 29, 2011 Eternal Sunshine is good but way overrated. The Truman Show however is a truly great and beautiful film that doesn't get nearly the respect it deserves.
Paid Members GlennCullen Posted March 29, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 29, 2011 I love Eternal Sunshine and that's a very close second but I will never, ever get bored of The Mask.
Paid Members lambyUK Posted March 29, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 29, 2011 In terms of performance its a tie with I love you Phillip Morris and The Truman Show. How he didnt receive and Oscar nom for Phillip Morris is beyond a joke!
Loki
Well, I'm probably not the best person to ask that of, as I hated Eternal Sunshine  I'm kicking you out of the Film Club   Sorry man, it's just that Charlie Kaufman's films really aggravate me. I'm usually a fan of surrealism or magic realism (whatever you want to label it), but his stuff is just like being slapped on the arm gently with a wet flannel by an effete Jewish New Yorker. It's too clever for its own good. I did like his work on Confessions of a Dangerous Mind but afterwards found out that Barris and Clooney had rewritten most of it anyway, clearly to the betterment of the film. Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted March 29, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 29, 2011 It's clearly the Truman Show. It's an interesting concept and features his best performance. I always watch it when it comes on the telly.

Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted March 29, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 29, 2011 Truman Show. Eternal Sunshine is a very good, ephemeral indy movie, but Truman Show will be one of those films that flowers over the years as people realise just how wonderful it was. Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted March 29, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 29, 2011 On his slapstick side, I'll always hold Ace Ventura : When Nature Calls close to me. Man on the Moon or Eternal Sunshine for showcasing his dramatic chops...but my all time favourite is The Mask. I just never get tired of it... Paid Members Tommy! Posted March 29, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 29, 2011 Not his best but I'd recommend the majestic to any one who hasn't seen it.
JJsGirl
A toss up between The Mask and Liar Liar for me and I'm another person who's not fond of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - I actually just found it boring and it didn't hold my interest for very long. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 29, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 29, 2011 Jim Carrey movies fall into a couple of very distinct categories...it always pains me when people watch some of his more serious work and expect it be like Dumb & Dumber. I guess that's what happens when an actor gets kind of typecast. Â I've pretty much liked Jim Carrey in everything he's done, im a big fan of the wacky stuff and his choices in more serious roles has also been pretty good, he always seems to be interesting 'serious' movies. Â If i had to pick one movie though it would have to be Dumb & Dumber.
The King Of Swing
Am I alone in hating Dumb & Dumber? Â All I can really remember about the film right now is hating both main characters with a passion and thinking that they were the biggest cunts on the planet at the time. Vito
I cannot say enough good things about Man On The Moon, it has everything; comedy, drama, romance, heartbreak, Jerry Lawler. Hell, it even managed to make Courtney Love look like a human being, which is a remarkable achievement in itself.
