Mr. Noble
GPW's and Futureshocks Jack Gallagher trains regularly at the infamous Snakepit and has done for the last 12 months or longer. It's part of the reason behind his phenomenal transformation these last 8 months or so. It was due to his training at the Snakepit that lead him to fly to Salt Lake City at the start of this year to train in a seminar with Billy Robinson. Â If you've not seen him in action yet, you're missing out. He incorporates a lot of the skills and offence learnt at the Snakepit and we're proud to have such a representitive of the catch style made in Wigan, actually wrestling in Wigan. GPW wrestlers Damon Leigh and Joey Hayes have also attended the Snakepit in the past. Â Gallagher will be in action for us on April 9th and for Futureshock the following night, so don't be shy of coming to check this North West scene out! Flashing Blade
I am the author of Bloody Revolution: A Journey into UK MMA- the book the extract is from. Thanks for all the feedback. Â The clip is from a longer chapter about the lost grappling heritage of the UK and how the MMA boom has kickstarted a revival. Once again, the North West of England is at the forefront with the Kaobon gym championing Luta Livre (an art with many similaraties to catch as catch can). Â The rest of the book looks at other aspects of the sport in this country. It is described in this month's Fighting Fit magazine. Â
Happ Hazzard
Does anyone own the rights to the name "the Snakepit"? I'm surprised someone hasn't opened an MMA school in Wigan under the name.
lightningxlock
I was always under the impression that The Snakepit was no more. Last I heard was that it had been demolished but that was of course before I heard of Gallagher training there
Crowdpuller
The snakepit is no more, the building itself was knocked down, and is now relocated and renamed "aspull wrestling club". Still a quality place to learn though.
