Sunday, 08 May 2011 09:25 Â Thanks to a brand new partnership between XWA Wrestling and Europe's only all-female wrestling promotion Pro Wrestling Eve, a women's title match between the two best female wrestlers currently competing on the continent has been added to XWA War on the Shore VII on Saturday June 4. Â This match at The Carleton in Morecambe will be for the Pro Wrestling Eve Championship, and will have a true international flavour as it pits the champion Britani Knight from Norwich, England against the number one contender Jenny Sjodin from Sundsvall, Sweden. Â At just 18 years of age, Britani Knight (pictured below with the Pro Wrestling Eve Title) is one of the hottest female prospects to ever come out of the United Kingdom. It was recently reported in the Wrestling Observer newsletter that Britani had a WWE try out last month and therefore is a potential future superstar on both sides of the Atlantic. As a member of the Knight wrestling dynasty; the daughter of Rowdy Ricky Knight and the Sweet Saraya, and sister of The Zebra Kid and Zak Zodiac, Britani certainly has wrestling in her blood. And by competing for the XWA, thus following in the footsteps of all four of her family members, she will become the fifth member of the Knight family to ever appear on a Greg Lambert-promoted event in Morecambe. Â Â But she will face a tough challenge in Jenny Sjodin (pictured below), who has competed for XWA once before in 2010. Sjodin, 25, has a phenomenal fighting pedigree in Mixed Martial Arts and amateur mat wrestling, having won a gold medal in Ground Grappling and competed in the Grapplers' Quest tournament in New Jersey, USA, recognised by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). She is one of the most dangerous competitors in Pro Wrestling Eve and is feared for her lethal cross armbreaker submission. Â Â Miss Knight and Miss Sjodin know each other extremely well, having shared victories against each other in the recent Pro Wrestling Eve two-day tournament which saw Britani crowned champion on April 9 2011 in Sudbury, Suffolk. Â The partnership between XWA Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Eve has come about due to the close friendship between XWA's new co-owner Sam Slam and Pro Wrestling Eve promoter Dann Read. It is expected that XWA will recognise the winner of this match as its own women's champion. Â Dann Read said: "I am delighted that Pro Wrestling Eve has joined with XWA Wrestling to bring the biggest, best and most important matchup in European women's wrestling today to the great fans of Morecambe. Â "Both girls have one win against the other, Jenny having made Britani tap out, then Britani pinned Jenny in a rematch. Britani has skills and heart beyond her years, having won the title tournament after competing in five matches over two days, and while suffering with glandular fever. But she will be healthy for this title match and will need to be. Jenny is one of the biggest threats Britani could ever encounter, a submission specialist who is well-versed in many different styles of wrestling. Â "This partnership with XWA comes at a very important time for Pro Wrestling Eve as we prepare to welcome the wrestlers from Ice Ribbon to the UK in October, the first time a Japanese women's wrestling (Joshi) promotion will ever have visited Great Britain. Â "I hope Britani Knight v Jenny Sjodin will be the first of many Pro Wrestling Eve matches on XWA Wrestling shows in the future." Â This prestigious and historic title match has been added to an already mouthwatering card for XWA War on the Shore VII at The Carleton in Morecambe on Saturday, June 4 2011. Sunday, 29 May 2011 10:37 Â The first ever Pro Wrestling: EVE women's championship match in Morecambe this Saturday night (June 4) at XWA War on the Shore has captured the imagination of European wrestling fans and it seems that with just six days to go until bell time, the intensity is getting to both competitors the champion Britani Knight and challenger Jenny Sjodin. Â Â The 18-year-old Pro-Wrestling:EVE Champion Britani Knight, who successfully defended her title for the first time this past Sunday in Norwich at the WAW May Mayhem event against Liberty, tweeted following her victory on her account @BritaniKnight: Â "Hard weekend of wrestling. Thank you to everyone involved retained my EVE title. Bring on @JennySjdin !!" Â The simple comments of 'Bring On Jenny Sjodin' seemed to anger her opponent this Saturday night, 'The Female Fight Machine' from Sweden herself, who replied on her account @JennySjdin: Â "I see @BritaniKnight is confident. She should know by now I'm a sportsman & intentionally didn't break her arm. Next time I wont be as nice." Â A retaliating Britani Knight tweeted: "@jennysjdin ok sports man. Bring it on!" Â When Britani Knight later tweeted "Weekend off. Bam!" it led to Sjodin responding and the pair going back and forth as shown below: Â Jenny Sjodin: "@BritaniKnight you sure that's intelligent? I'm wrestling all weekend & my IQ scores over 130. Be sensible." Britani Knight: "@JennySjdin what's any of that got to do with our match? Lol" Jenny Sjodin: "@BritaniKnight just saying rest isn't a good way to success. I doubt you'll be "lol" after next weekend, to express myself in your terms." Â It seemed the war of words was won by Britani Knight as at this point Jenny stopped responding to the EVE Champion. The only thing we then heard from the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist was perhaps a message to the current reigning champion with the following tweet: Â "I've missed MMA. Today's class included kicking people in the head..." Â This match, which came about due to a working agreement between XWA Wrestling and Pro-Wrestling: EVE (Europe's only all-female pro wrestling promotion) has passed the levels of simple professionalism and now has more personal emotions attached to it as mind games are played by both champion and challenger. Â The final match has been confirmed for XWA War on the Shore this Saturday night (June 4) and it will be a groundbreaker as for the first time ever, two of the most intense and physically aggressive competitors in British Wrestling go one on one. It's 'The Psychotic Warrior' Johnny Phere v 'The Wrestling' Cyborg' Joel Redman... Â This match came about after the events of this afternoon's Frontier Wrestling Alliance event at the Excel Centre in London, when Johnny Phere gatecrashed an FWA show for the second time this year to disrupt the plans of The Authority. Â Nick Riley, a member of the FWA's Resistance group, was taking a beating at the hands of Redman and his Authority ally David Deville at the packed event at the prestigious London venue in what everyone thought was a two on one handicap match, until 'The Psychotic Warrior' came storming over the crowd barrier, onto the ring apron and tagged in to even the odds! In the end, Phere unleashed a massive spear on David Deville and Riley was able to gain the pinfall...then Johnny duly stormed back off through the crowd, his work done and another message sent to The Authority that the war between Johnny Phere and The Ascension will never be over until Phere receives the XWA Title shot we all know he deserves! Â We have also learned that during his RAM-Page through London today, Phere put a dent in The Authority's plans to bring reinforcements to The Carleton next Saturday. Before interjecting himself into Redman and Deville's match, Phere also viciously attacked their cohort Iestyn Rees backstage, severely injuring his knee. Rees, who has a history of knee problems, is now on crutches and will not be at War on the Shore this Saturday. Â The Authority's leaders The Ascension and Greg 'The Truth' Lambert, neither of whom were present at the Excel event, are apparently spitting feathers about Phere's latest bombshell intervention. They have now ordered Joel Redman, Rees' tag team partner, to take revenge on Phere this Saturday night. 'The Physical Specimen' has therefore been signed to a singles match with 'The Psychotic Warrior' and promises to cripple the Ultimate Anti-Hero and put him out of action, just like he did to Rees. Although the maniacal Phere looks unstoppable at the moment, Redman is an absolute machine of a man, a relentless freak of nature who never takes a backward step. When Phere faces Redman one on one, this could be a clash for the ages. Â It will also be interesting to see how the loss of Iestyn Rees affects The Authority's plans for the huge main event at War on the Shore, when David Deville defends the XWA British Heavyweight and FWA World Heavyweight Titles on behalf of the supposedly injured Ascension against number one contender 'The Heavyweight House of Pain' Stixx. No doubt Rees was an integral part of The Authority's plans to stack the odds against Stixx in that match. With The Ascension and now Rees sidelined, and The Authority's Minions Faith Tanner - who was Ram Slammed by Johnny Phere at Goldrush in February - and Aaron Inferno also said to be struggling with injuries ahead of Saturday's show, The Authority looks to be severely weakened heading into The Carleton spectacular. With XWA co-owner Sam Slam also set to be at ringside for the main event on Saturday night to prevent any shenanigans, surely Stixx will never have a better chance of realising his dream and becoming an unprecedented double champion. Â Then again, we have learned throughout their reign of terror over the past 14 months that The Authority are nothing if not resourceful. And we should never, ever, write them off... If Stixx wins the main event match at XWA War on the Shore VII by pinfall or submission, he will become the unified XWA British and FWA World Heavyweight Champion. Finally, he will step out of the shadow of his former mentor The Ascension (Alex Shane). Finally, he will no longer be regarded as a lackey, a hired heavy or a tag team specialist. Finally, he will achieve his career dream of being a major singles heavyweight champion... Â Â Saturday is such an important day in the life of Stixx that he is travelling up to Morecambe early and will be in the town centre on Saturday afternoon to soak up the pre-War on the Shore atmosphere and meet his fans, who will be solidly behind him when he takes on David Deville in the Royal Battle.
