David
An excellent result, and performance from Scotland! Not often I get the chance to say that
BiffingtonClyro
Scotland 3 Northern Ireland 0. Â Scotland were excellent, N Ireland were atrocious. We ran rings around them. This Scotland team are looking good, and supposedly James McCarthy wants to defect back to Scotland! Excellent news!
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted February 9, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted February 9, 2011 Scotland very comfortable. If they'd played a better final pass at times, they could have won handsomely. Interesting that for a tournament England aren't in, I've counted 20 players born in England! I reckon that's more than any other country. Â Sean St. Ledger, Ciaran Clark, Paul Green, Jon Walters, Danny Collins, Sam Ricketts, Lewin Nyatanga, Andrew Crofts, Andy King, Hal Robson-Kanu, Freddie Eastwood, Simon Church, Lee Hodson, Rory McArdle, Oliver Norwood, Adam Thompson, Alan McGregor, Phil Bardsley, Kris Commons & James Morrison. Â Northern Ireland have two in the Rep. Of Ireland squad too, Marc Wilson and Darron Gibson.

RoryFice
I'd say that was the best Scotland performance in a good few years tonight. Fair enough it was against a weak N. Ireland side but it was a very comfortable win.
METAL ON METAL
Delighted for Bardsley, fantastic performance by him tonight. Â He has been playing like that all season for us, really upped his game in the last year - player of the season for us bar none.
Paid Members garynysmon Posted February 9, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted February 9, 2011 We were shite last night, and I spent 200 euro in 24 hours in Dublin. Joy of joys.
Daaaaaad!
Scotland were excellent, N Ireland were atrocious. We ran rings around them. This Scotland team are looking good, and supposedly James McCarthy wants to defect back to Scotland! Excellent news! He can't though can he? He's already represented the Republic at international level against Brazil last season. Had he not, he could defect, but surely now he can't. Â EDIT: According to the BBC, he can because it was only a friendly. How odd.
BiffingtonClyro
Fifa rules state that you can still defect if you have only played in friendlies, which he has. To be honest with you, I don't think he will anyway. Roberto Martinez has said that McCarthy still wants to play for the Republic.
David
McCarthy was born in Scotland, so why he would want to play anywhere else when the country of his birth is happy to have him is beyond me.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted February 10, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted February 10, 2011 McCarthy was born in Scotland, so why he would want to play anywhere else when the country of his birth is happy to have him is beyond me. Essentially he's a giant cock. His agent is his puppet master and convinced him to play for Ireland because Scotland were 'overlooking' him. From what I can gather his agent has been making threats to quit Ireland if he doesn't play and Trapattoni told them to fuck off, he'll decide. Â I don't think Scotland need him anyway. CM is the one position they have genuine depth and quality. He won't get ahead of Fletcher and Adam and the likes of Dorrans and Bannen are looking like future stars. TAFKAC
I trust some of those posting on the previous page mocking Scotland despite being Scottish are still out celebrating a win? I'm not saying we are world beaters but we could always try to cheer on our country.
David
Could Scotland be on the verge of winning the Carling Nations Cup this year? I can see our game with Eire being the decider, and hopefully that proves to be the case.
