Paid Members Carbomb Posted March 7, 2011 Author Paid Members Share Posted March 7, 2011 Right, this won't be so much a write-up of summary as a number of observations and "awards":  WCW, from what I can see, played relatively well, but ultimately it was their game to lose and they lost it. The moment they got Chris, they effectively "broke the back" of the game, and the fact they managed to lynch Ron (who was the nWo's Kill-enabler, in essence) meant that nWo was on a back foot. Of course, it gave the Wolfpac a slight boost in that that, having lost their leader, Hollywood had to join them - I felt it would only be fair, and historically accurate, to have Hall join them, even if Bischoff wasn't appropriate (but I couldn't leave unfitfinlay to fend for himself). But honestly, I felt the Horsemen got a bit too single-minded, and their logic was a little iffy in dealing with the roleblocks put on the vig, as well as the protection on FGPMSL - they really should've tried to target someone else.  FGPMSL - really, I don't know how you managed it, but despite slipping up badly, you ended up celebrating with the Wolfpac team at the end. Kudos. For those confused: as Sting, he was a Free Agent who had to decide his alignment; the moment he chose "nWo", he had to be Wolfpac - I couldn't tell him he'd be Wolfpac straight away. He was also the game's only rolecop - I felt this would make the game much more interesting. Funnily enough, though, he was probably the ONLY role in the entire game for whom a fuck-up like that actually made the game more interesting, rather than ruining it - it even added to the authenticity of the whole "will he? won't he?" angle of the Sting/nWo saga. Sometimes life really does imitate art.  Soap, believe it or not, was actually a pretty good Serial Killer - just really, really unlucky; after nailing TripleA (and therefore robbing nWo of the only window they could have to infiltrate the Horsemen), he proceeded to target bristep (Bulletproof) and Nicko (protected by doctor). He also turned out to be a very good player, dealing with a lot of the scrutiny on him pretty consummately. I hope he plays again.  INTERESTING NOTE: If nWo had recruited him, he would still have been a Serial Killer, and he would've been able to take them all out from within, provided he wasn't taken out by the Day Vig, or rumbled by either nWo faction.  Right, awards:  Best Newcomer: Difficult, but really should go to unfitfinlay. I'd like to give it to Soap, but he lost, unfortunately. tom didn't really post enough.  Worst Newcomer: Adam619. Sorry lad, but you really posted a bare minimum; works for Scum, but if I'd been playing it would've been one of the first things I'd go for.  Game MVP: Can't be anybody but FGPMSL, really. Fucking up like he did at the very beginning, with suspicion on him constantly, yet stayed alive and triumphed over a very strong WCW side, who still had the power to kill, protect and roleblock.  Funniest Moment: Chris B's "Bah!" post as Kevin Nash.  SMS, I know you're pissed off by how you felt you were treated in the game, but honestly, don't let it get to you, and instead of taking it personally, look back at how you could change up your game style; you're not an awful player, but this has happened to you enough times now that maybe you should have a look at what it is you're doing wrong? After all, it's a game of consensus - if enough people are finding you scummy on a regular basis in enough numbers THAT early in the game, surely it should tell you something?  Anyway guys, I thoroughly enjoyed formulating and modding this game, even with all the fuck-ups; I was a little disappointed ButchReedMark didn't play so I could've made him Brad Armstrong or Barry Windham, but hey-ho. I'm glad at least some of you enjoyed it. And now for some advertising:  It's normally a peaceful community...  ...especially around this time of year...   ...people are happy and celebrating...   BUT...        ...behind the smiles and lanterns, there's unease and tension-   -people are bought and sold-   -life is held cheap-   -violence is the dominant currency-   and everyone knows money and power comes with a hefty price-tag in:      COMING SOON... Paid Members Mike Castle Posted March 7, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 7, 2011 One thing I do want to say Carbomb, next time, don't pick who will get certain roles, it leads to way too much WIFO the mod. Much better to just randomize it. It may mean you wind up with an all new player scum team, which, while unfortunate, is the way things lay sometimes. On the other hand you could wind up with an exceptionally strong team (like the bristep/swift pairing that I was glad I missed in the end). It tends to average out in the long run though. Â Yeah, think I've learned my lesson on this one. I did initially try to make it a balanced mix of beginners and experienced players on both sides, and, no disrespect to Nexus or SMS, but I didn't want to risk people working off their reps from previous games and lynching them out of habit, thus blowing the game wide open before it even had a chance to get going. The Icon
4Life MoFo's. Â Carbomb, well done on a supremely enjoyable game, I thought the mechanics were well thought out, thorough, and suited my personal tastes of a topsy-turvy game down to the ground. Â Recognize greatness, my fellow MafiaScum brethren.
bAzTNM Fan
Yeah, thanks again Carbomb. I will probably sit out the next game because of uni work but I will play again at some point. Â Since this was my first game, I didn't really appreciate the fact that I was a lone wolf initially. Turns out I was unlucky with a few of my targets and it actually seems like it was harder for me to win in that respect. I wish I'd been recruited now! Â Good game, lads.
