Flair pulled out of UK tour?

Flair signed with TNA through Hogan and Bischoff. This has probably been the first time away from the lads since he signed with TNA, and look what happens. Mad to think after all these years, the only two blokes he can really trust to go to the cash machine for him is them two!

Anyway, they should have just give him a few quid, man. He's already been nice enough to go overboard on the amount of dates he agreed to. They could have kept him tidy until he got to the bank in Orlando. I'm with Ric on this one. We've all been there!

At first I thought the thread title said "Flair pulled on the UK tour" then realised SBA hadnt posted it.

People seem to be criticising TNA like it's their fault that four of the names are now not appearing. It's beyond their control and unfortunately talent not appearing as scheduled is part and parcel of going to watch any form of entertainment. Flair is one of the top ten earners in TNA (according to PS) and regardless of whether he gets an advance on his pay cheque or not, he shouldn't be punishing the fans further, knowing full well that AJ, Shelley and Angle are already off the tour.

However, having performers unable to attend a show as advertised is also a downside to running a show, and with four big names off the tour TNA should certainly save face and offer a refund should anybody require one. Hell, why not let everyone in to the show half price (ie give them half the ticket value back at the door), at least they'll still have the packed venue and the fans will no doubt spend the money they've received back at the merchandise stall.

Fuck that. A tour featuring Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam, Mr Anderson, Matt Hardy, Jeff Jarrett and other name talent shouldnt be laughed at as a rip-off. Shelley and Styles arent exactly Austin circa-98 and Flair and Angle werent even set to wrestle, besides maybe a one off. Its a house show. The wrestling wont suffer from the lack of who's pulled out.

True, Styles and Shelley aren't '98 Austin by any means but then TNA is hardly '98 WWF.

Styles is the biggest 'homegrown' star they've got, Shelley has always been over as fuck and Flair is over to the point where they named the tour after one of his catchphrases and pay him almost as much as anybody else on the payroll.

I didn't realise that Angle wasn't scheduled to wrestle in the first place.

The difference between TNA now and WWF then is that TNA is trying to build up a reputation and tapping into new territories. Especially with TNA not having a TV slot in the UK, the least they can do is keep the UK fans happy.

just found this on nodq.com

- To update on the Ric Flair incident in Dublin, Ireland, it is said that Flair allegedly played hardball, not getting on the bus after his request for a financial advance was refused. As this kind of thing has occured before and with Flair refusing to get on the plane, a decision was made to leave him behind.

One source revealed that because of Flair's outburst, members of the roster were in favor of leaving Flair, some even mocking him, using his "signature promo lines" after the bus left without him.

There was also talk that Flair's legendary "partying" habits on the tour may have also had something to do with his decision not to get on the bus.

Finally, just to clarify, TNA management did not send Flair home. He was simply left behind after "blowing up" and subsequently refusing to travel, and is likely still in Europe.

Got visions of Flair wandering round Dublin offering to do "Whoo's" for cash so he can get to the pub :)

If the biggest draw on the show (Jeff Hardy) or the world champion (Anderson) pulled out then fair enough. But the card is still stacked. And your right, TNA isnt WWF of 1998. But if Road Dogg, X-Pac, Ken Shamrock and Shane McMahon pulled out of a tour, yet still had the World champion and a shit load of wrestlers people wanted to see would WWF have offered refunds? Course not.

Refunds?! May I divert your attention to the line that appears at the bottom of all wrestling event posters...

'CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE'

Get over it and enjoy the show!

You do have a very good point. Was just hoping to meet Flair is all.

'CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE'

If you want repeat business, you'll deliver on your promises or offer refunds. Angle and Falir were all over the advertising for these shows. There's a good chance that people bought tickets to see them. At the very least they should offer refunds or find suitable replacements.

Tiger_Rick, when buying tickets you enter into an agreement with the promoter that you understand and acknowledge that the card is subject to change. You need to sit down and think about that.

Also, don't expect to watch the show then at the end march over to the box office and demand your money back because it doesn't work like that.

If for some reason TNA do offer refunds then do us a favour and give up your ticket to someone who might actually appreciate the talent that is on offer.

Saddens me this is supposed to be a cutting-edge wrestling promotion and one of the biggest draws on the tour is a dinosaur.

Thats how the world turns. Its the reason 26 year old "world class workers!~" are still wrestling in high school gyms, why supposed "better promotions than WWE and TNA" arent allowed in meetings with television executives because of unkempt hair and why people like Davey Richards think about becoming firemen. You need to have your ducks in a row, and Flairs a star name. Star names no matter how old they are are still star names. Everyone from New Japan, to 1PW to ROH to WWE to TNA had held discussions with him to play a fulltime major role in their promotions, so TNA are right to use him. Flair was 59 when he was drawing mega business with a bloke in his early 40s back in 2008. They are a young company building from the ground up. Cutting edge wrestling doesnt mean fuck all to the people who are giving TNA a television deal and financing them to bring in the Flairs of this world.

While I'm here:

James Storm may have suffered a groin injury at the TNA show in Dublin, Ireland, though it hasn't yet been confirmed.

I am sat down. Glad we cleared that up.

The promoter needs to realise that it doesn't matter what the agreement says. If they don't deliver what is promised then the next time, people won't buy tickets. History shows what promoting lacklustre cards does to repeat house show attendance. The promoter shouldn't be arrogant enough to think "card subject to change" covers all eventualities and should acknowledge that.

WWF never offered refunds the night Austin pulled out of a scheduled main event with Brock Lesnar and a scheduled storyline that had been built up for weeks where Flair was going to be his bulter. Austin was also headlining the full weeks Raw house shows as the star of the newly put together "single brand live events". Its not the first time someone has spat their dummy out and it wont be the last.

Don't disagree, especially in a shoddy world such as pro-wrestling but no-one should take customers for granted, not ever. WWE have learnt that. TNA aren't in a position where they can afford to piss people off so they should show some initiative and they'll receive some goodwill in return.

And I'm not getting at TNA. Flair's a cunt for putting them in this position.
