As it turned out then, the fate of the Gamble was still in the balance at six o'clock on Sunday evening, so I hope the weekend remained suitably tense for everyone. In the end NO was yet again the right way to bet, but it's bound to be wrong sooner or later, and as I mentioned there'll be another chance next month before D2D returns. For the first time in ages one person - ultimo - didn't take part, while 8 players lost points by betting incorrectly, but all those who got their picks in did at least do the honourable thing and play along.

To take one example, lowest scorer brownie got 3 points, which isn't great to start with, then got it halved to 1.5; however, we don't have half points in the FPL so the amount deducted is rounded up to 2, effectively meaning the total score for the week is rounded down. Harsh, but such is the nature of the Gamble. At the other extreme ex-champs jerichoholictufcfan and Gatso clearly fancy another, as their scores were impressive anyway, but getting them doubled could be game-changers, especially with the latter's D2D still to come. Nevertheless it's the former who takes top scorer honours this time, and now has Lawz in his sights while the former wbzuk actually overtakes him, even though he bet correctly in the Gamble too, along with hbk4life who extends his lead without managing a terribly impressive score.

One last note about the table (which was updated 2 days ago BTW, in case anybody wanted to check): sivy ironically doubled his weekly score too, but it was a crap one so he's more stranded at the bottom than ever, though vanhalen's doing his best to join him. The results have been in the original post since Sunday night too, so let's get on with looking at the matches.

Obviously Real Madrid dropping points at La Liga's basement side caught the most people out, along with Espanyol's win in Seville despite that going very much with the form book. The home wins at Villarreal and, closer to home, Eastlands were easier to guess but again, the exact scoreline eluded everyone. Special mention to Koconutz for foreseeing the five-goal thriller at the Hawthorns where many thought the visitors might come away with something, as did a few others at the Britannia. Apart from that it was draws galore, in Wigan and at the derbies, but they proved fruitful with a fair clutch of one- and three-pointers for most.

Well, would you look at that? Wednesday morning already! I'll get on and post the next set of 10 straight away then...
