Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted January 3, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 3, 2011 Always remember him in "In The Name of the Father". He also gave a great performance, I felt, in "Brassed Off". RIP.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted January 3, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 3, 2011 I was only mentioning his performance in In The Name Of The Father on here a couple of weeks ago too. He was a cracking character actor who even did well when he was completely miscast, as he was as Kobayashi in The Usual Suspects. RIP.
martinQblank
I remember googling him after watching the Town as he looked really ill in that - RIP.
Paid Members Ronnie Posted January 3, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 3, 2011 That's a shame. I'm not particularly a film person, but I remember first coming across him playing Giuseppe Conlon (?) in In the name of the father. Â I shall remember his memorable portrayal of Obadiah Hakeswill in Sharpe: "Your wife's got fine teats, an' I means to 'ave 'em!" He really brought that monster to life and made him his own. Happ Hazzard
What was he in before the early 90s? Can't remember seeing him in anything earlier than that.
benbobjr
What was he in before the early 90s? Can't remember seeing him in anything earlier than that. I'm guessing he was still working in Theatre, as that is where his acreer started in the 70s. He was in a number of memorable films from my teenage years when my love for films started The Last of the Mohicans , Alien 3, The Usual Suspects, Romeo + Juliet, etc.

BionicRedneck
I was going to make some sort of Cillian Murphy joke about him being 'disappointed' or something, but then I realised I fucking love Pete Postlethwaite. 2011 is already shit. Paid Members Fatty Facesitter Posted January 3, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 3, 2011 First saw him in Brassed Off in which he was brilliant. My Dad in particular was a massive fan of most his work. Terrible shame.

Paid Members Snake Plissken Posted January 3, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 3, 2011 You were assured that even if what he was in was a dud, he would still be brilliant. RIP Pete, you will be missed.
