Baz Windham
It's because it was part of an expo type event. You get people wandering in and out in between doing other stuff so lots didn't want to stay for a prolonged period and are perhaps used to matches being on the hour. So after the first match lots left and there were people drifitng in, but mainly out from then on.
PW-AJ
I would say the mass exit after the first match also had something to do with how confusing the card system was in that match. Â The highlight of the show was The Undertaker being in attendance. Seems it's not just UFC he goes to watch.

Seems it's not just UFC he goes to watch.   Yeah, I saw that guy.....what a twat! I was in stitches watching him draw his thumb across his throat whenever a wrestler hit their finisher but he saved the best for the mention of the late Eddie Guerrero upon which he raised his open left hand up to the heavens ala Mark Calloway stylee.....sensational.  Just a quick point to note to regarding my post lastnight. I admit I was slightly harsh on Nathan Cruz, and to be fair the Ladder match was probably my favourite on the show after all. I also want it known that I don't attend shows to pick holes and criticise, I attend shows because I enjoy wrestling and as a paying customer (granted this show was free) I like anybody else reserves the right to air any grievances I have. In two weeks I'm making a 500 mile round trip to Sittingbourne, not because I'm going to come on here afterwards and tear it apart but because I know IPW will put on a damn fine show!  I was just baffled by yesterdays show. I can't see how it would've attracted any new fans to the promotion which is a shame as there was certainly a large portion of people there for the opening match. I hope that the FWA goes onto bigger and better things but IMO, and that's all it is, alot of things will need to change first.
Dirty Eddie
I've agreed in the past with the FWA moving away from trying to put on "5 star matches" and MOTY candidates on every show, as it isn't a viable way to do continued business and it puts the workers at extra risk for very little actual reward. Â However, if there was ever a time to put on some "Holy Shit" matches, surely this sort of deal (The Expo) is the time to do it! Â If the plan is to try and attract new fans, then putting on storyline-heavy matches is just not going to work. It would make more sense to put on some jaw-dropping matches, in an effort to impress some new viewers and perhaps make them go "blimey, that was actually way more impressive than I expected. Might check them out again". Â It's a shame this show is getting poor reviews, but half (or more) of the fun of a wrestling show is the fan atmosphere and crowd response, and that seemed to be an uphill struggle on this occasion. fye
So if they are saying the agenda are the illuminati are they saying shane, stone and co put plants in tna and wwe and wcw and all that shit? If shane is responsible for the oil spill those guys at bp who took all the flak must be fuming!!!
R U Kidding Me Ric Blade
Ill just add a few thoughts about the show, sorry if repeating any posts. Â Overall was this a bad show, no it wasn't......did it entertain wrestling fans, to an extent.......would it attract non wrestling fans, possibly not.....ill elaborate, Â This is the first FWA show I have attended for a quite a long time, the first since the re-launch. With me was my girlfriend who is not into wrestling and was attending her first ever show. So this was quite a good way to gage reactions from both a fan and a non fan. With the title "European Uprising" I had quite high expectations. Memories of Jodys balcony moonsault and matches like Jonny vs AJ were still in my mind but I knew not to get my hopes up quite that high as this was about attracting a different type of audience to the product. Stinky Dad
......and why when assigned as 'Special Referee' did Alex Shane upon booting Kincaide call for Chris Roberts to come out and make the three count? Surely Shane could've done that himself? That was something else that confused me that I forgot to mention!
Paid Members Chris B Posted November 21, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted November 21, 2010 I think it would have been a good idea to read out a set of rules at the start of the show for the people experiencing wrestling for the first time i.e if your out of the ring you have a ten count to return and if your doing something illegal like a choke then you have a five count to break it. Why assume that anyone in the audience is going to know any of that and if you don't want to present your product in that way then hold the show at a different venue and promote it to wrestling fans only. Â I agree entirely. When I was announcing, I used to quickly run down the ways matches could end. It takes about two minutes and can easily be part of the show's introduction, and I think it helps enormously in getting any new crowd members on side. Stinky Dad
Just like the Spud scenario the Hall Of Fame is another thing that was advertised and not followed through on. Is this definately the FWA and not 1PW?
wrestlingmad
I think its unfair to compare it to 1PW. It's not like there overunning by 4 hours or not sending out merchandise and scamming people left right and center.
fye
I dont mean to directly slag Alex Shane off but his facebook pages says "You have just witnessed the Great Work of the ages in its final stages" yet for me everyone saw it coming as comments days ago were not only predicting the turn but talking about it as if it had already happened  Another post said "I think we made British Wrestling history (despite some smarts hating it)" and I have no idea what sort of history was supposedly made, it seems like a standard show that doesn't actually live up to old FWA stuff from five or six years ago. Just my take on things as an outsider. I have no issues with Alex and want to see the FWA and other top feds succeed but the comments seem a little off the mark to me. What are other people's thoughts on this?
Stinky Dad
That was intended as a joke, albeit not a very funny one but a joke all the same. It's quite obvious FWA and 1PW are/where two different beasts.

Unfortunately it appears that if you voice a negative opinion towards Alex Shane or the FWA then you are just a 'mark' who 'doesn't get it.' Baz Windham
It didn't even make Memorabilia history. The most memorable thing about yesterday was Vanillia Coke!~
