WrestlingDVDnews has posted up a pre release review

The set is packed with segments which were taped after the RAW television broadcast concluded, these segments are widely known as “dark segments”. These dark segments have only been released on a handful of DVD sets in the past and very occasionally on WWE.com. Often times the only opportunity to see this post-TV taping footage is when it pops up online, and of course as soon as it does it’s all over twitter, Facebook and the “newz” sites and we ‘rasslin fans jump all over it. This DVD set basically that footage, shot professionally rather than with a shaky cell phone from a cheap seat in the arena.

An important point to note about this release is that it does not feature ANY commentary on the segments or matches. As Renee Young explains in the open, it is the norm that the announcers return backstage as soon as the television taping has concluded. A way to look at the matches is that they are presented in the exact same way in which the live crowd experience them on that night. However, in saying that personally I would have preferred if WWE added some commentary on the matches at least. Given the selections which WWE made only five actual matches have been chosen, and this may have been by design with the lack of commentary.

What Ive found rather odd is that they picked the Cena, Hogan & Batista posedown yet decided not to show the match these guys had with Hunter, HBK & JBL on Raw. Im not certain but im pretty sure the clip they are showing on the DVD the match did actually take place before this posedown. Pity there isnt any 1998 stuff.

Other than that Im planning on buying the DVD release and its good there are keeping it intact with no commentary.

- It's now confirmed that Sting will be involved in the WWE DVD and Blu-ray they are releasing on him later this year.

Great news, hopefully Sting will be involved at Summerslam. With the dvd coming out in September then Summerslam in August would be ideal. Stings has 100% signed then hasnt he.

I'm not banking on an appearance just yet. Hope to be wrong though.

Nope. He may have, and WWE could definitely do with something to wow people around the time of SummerSlam/Night of Champions/Hell in a Cell as that's when most of the network renewals come up. But Sting contributing to a DVD doesn't mean much more than he's on good terms with the company. When he did interviews for the Warrior documentary, it seemed fairly likely he'd do them for his DVD as well, but it doesn't necessarily mean he's doing anything else. Vince Russo pops up on WWE DVDs lately, and he's not on the books.

Wasn't the famous Heyman 'shoot' on Vince edited? Wonder if they will put the full version on this set.

Yes it was. The full version can be seen online. Nothing major was cut.

I did wonder if this DVD version will be the 'full' version or not TBH.

Looks like there's another WCW DVD due. I'd be quite interested in this but I hope they go way, way back for some of the footage (Dusty getting blinded by the Warriors etc.) or otherwise I reckon it'll just be a re-hash of stuff already out there:

Ok - for some reason the pic won't come up. The DVD in question is 'OMG - Vol 2. The top 50 incidents in WCW History'

Awful cover, but still definitely getting this along with the Heyman DVD. Bash at the Beach will be number one and I'm sure there'll be new nWo member reveals galore on the countdown, but I'm hoping they shove some of the random stuff from 2000-2001 on there that I've probably forgotten about. Anyone know a release date?
