We didn't get knocked out of the League Cup by a lower-league team tonight! Yay!

Were you at the match mate? Decent Aberdeen support down. Your boy Fyvie might be out for a long time, he picked up a bad injury.

Alloa had their keeper sent off after 15 minutes, and Hartley scored the resultant penalty, so always going to be an uphill struggle from there, but not too much between the teams if I'm honest. Alloa gave a good account of themselves.

Belter of a third goal by Maguire.

Anyone else find it a little interesting that Rangers have yet to instigate an appeal for Nikica Jelavic's work permit?

Surely they're not waiting for the outcome of tomorrow's Aston Villa/Rapid Vienna match...?

it always takes this length of time unless your celtic....

Did you read my post?

It is up to Rangers to instigate an appeal. They haven't. There could be an appeal hearing tomorrow if Rangers wanted. There isn't.

I don't think Jorge Cadete would agree.

Dundee Utd are getting a tough time of it just now;

Dundee United's clash with AEK Athens was sent into meltdown last night after Panionios fans dug up their own pitch to prevent the tie taking place at their ground.

The Europa League play-off was originally due to take place at the Olympic Stadium in Athens but the playing surface was deemed unplayable. The match was switched to Panionios' Nea Smyrny Stadium by UEFA - a decision that outraged United.

The SPL club feared serious security and safety issues at the crumbling ground.

But the match will almost certainly not go ahead there after hate-filled Panionios supporters ensured their home couldn't be used by despised rivals AEK.

They staged a sit-in protest at the club's offices - then started setting about vandalising the pitch and pulling down the goals.

Panionios chief Panos Tselentis said: "They have done serious damage to the playing surface.

"They have dug up the majority of the pitch with spades and whatever else they could find so the game with Dundee United would not go ahead."

The destroyed pitch will be inspected today and it's believed AEK may approach another rival Olympiakos about using their ground for the match instead.

The latest news will infuriate United further as the tie is plunged into even greater turmoil.

The Scottish Cup winners were already furious at UEFA's decision to play the crunch clash at the Nea Smyrny and made a plea for the game to be called off.

Tannadice chairman Steven Thompson predicted there would be chaos at the game and branded the situation a "shambles".

United have now accepted an invitation to have the SFA's head of security, Derek Kirkwood, accompany them in order to help compile a report for the eyes of UEFA.

But Thompson has already voiced concerns about the safety of 500 United fans who thought they were going to see a game in Athens' Olympic Stadium.

Their pitch was deemed unplayable but now a smaller ground belonging to Panionios is to be used.

The 11,000-capacity Nea Smyrny Stadium is on the outskirts of the capital and the smaller arena means the match is already over-subscribed.

AEK have 12,000 season ticket holders and have sold more tickets on top of that. Add the travelling United fans and it's clear there isn't enough space to accommodate everyone.

Thompson said: "It's a shambles. I'll go to the stadium and see it for myself. But the UEFA delegate will be there as well and he has the power to call the match off if he has any concerns about safety.

"I'm concerned for our fans and if anything happens out there then it'll fall at UEFA's door. There's going to be chaos .

"From what we've been able to find out about the Nea Smyrny it has structural problems with the top tier of the stand, which isn't allowed to be opened to the public as a result.

"There are also serious safety issues relating to an inadequate number of entrances and exits.

"There have to be major security issues when it comes to crowd segregation.

"Greek fans are volatile and the AEK supporters have recently been involved in an after-match incident when the team's manager, Dusan Bajevic, was knocked to the ground by his own fans.

"I know Tayside Police have expressed concern about our supporters over there.

"But UEFA have said this ground is fit for purpose and it's up to AEK to ensure the safety of the people.

"UEFA rules say our fans must be inside a properly segregated area, and they've authorised this ground for use.

"We can't refuse to travel but I can go to the ground with the UEFA delegate and make sure that the integrity of the competition is upheld. And that's what I'll be doing.

"But I can't say I'm looking forward to the experience."

The SFA's Kirkwood said: "My remit will be to check on everything relating to the United fans at the stadium.

"I need to be sure about safe access to the ground, proper segregation arrangements inside the stadium and adequate means of exiting the arena."

UEFA were unavailable for comment yesterday.

He's already signed. If he fails to get a work permit (which wont happen) we need to honour the contract regardless of the fact he won't be able to play for us.

But there's more chance of me signing for Rangers than him not being given a work permit.
