just to remind everyone, this starts Thursday with Bellator 8...

DDXLAJRKAQPYJMP.20100301195810.jpg

Fight Card:

Roger Huerta (20-3) vs Chad Hinton (6-0) - 155 Tournament

Joe Warren (2-1) vs Eric Marriott (7-2) - 145 Tournament

Carey Vanier (7-2) vs Janne Tulirinta (12-3) - 155 Tournament

Georgi Karakhanyan (12-1) vs Bao Quach (17-9) - 145 Tournament

should be good, smart to have Huerta on top of the first show, he's probably the biggest name they have. Warren is my pick for the 145 title, he's only 2-1 but he looks the business, i was glad to see him lose his 3rd fight because he seemed so fucking cocky, but ive warmed to him since and he's really taking MMA seriously, he's gonna be pretty hard to stop.

No superfight this week.

The 16 fighters slated for tonight's Bellator Fighting Championships' season-two debut, including headliner Roger Huerta and opponent/fellow lightweight tournament competitor Chad Hinton, made weight for the show.

The weigh-ins took place Wednesday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., which also hosts tonight's event.

The event airs live on FOX Sports Net (or on a few hours' delay if preempted by local sports programming), and highlights packages air Saturday on NBC and Telemundo.

Four of the night's eight fights air as part of tonight's broadcast. All four fights come from the organization's season-two eight-man tournaments. The opening-round fights feature lightweights and welterweights, including the headliner, in which former UFC lightweight Huerta makes his promotional debut.

While the main-card fighters had no trouble making weight, preliminary-card fighter Mikey Gomez weighed 187 pounds, a pound over the 186-pound limit for middleweight fighters. Opponent Moyses Gabin, though, agreed to take the fight at a catchweight of 187 pounds.

In fact, Gomez was a late replacement for Jeff Savoy. Additionally, Edson Diniz replaced Michael Byrnes Jr. in a fight with John Kelly.

The full weigh-in results included:

not related to tonight, but here's some of the names rumored to be in Bellator's 8 man tourney:

Michal "Massacre" Kita (10-3)

Karlos "The Terminator" Vemola (7-0)

Rob "The Bear" Broughton (14-5-1)

Dave "Pee Wee" Herman (16-1)

Mike "300" Hayes (11-3-1)

Eddie Sanchez (11-3)

Cole Konrad (2-0)

I know Konrad and Kita are def. signed.

anyone see the first show?

it was decent enough...from a production standpoint it was excellent, nothing flashy but it did the job. Fight build up's were short by sweet, and the commetary team were great too...the PbP man sounded exactly like Michael Cole though, anyone else pick up on that?

the fights themselves were a bit up and down.

* Huerta/Hinton was a lot better than i think anyone expected. Hinton is a bit of a beast for 155, the guy is massive and he clearly was the stronger guy in the cage. At the end of the 1st i thought Huerta might be in a little bit of danger, but he dominated round 2 and finished it early in round 3. It was a very good little fight and a great advert for Huerta. I love the way he gets aggressive as soon as anyone hits him, he's a right nasty fucker.

* Joe Warren's got some way's to go before he can be considered world class. The thing is, he's so good at one thing that he's gonna get by, but holy fuck does he play a dangerous game, he was very lucky not to be submitted in round 1. He stays active in the guard but he's open all day for submissions. He advances but he wont have made many fans in the process.

* Karakhanyan/Quach was all action and ended brutally. I think it looked from the beginning like Karakhanyan would eventually catch Quach and that's exactly what happened, deadly knees. Karakhanyan is one to watch.

* Vanier/Duarte was a bit of a comedown after the Huerta fight (strange it went on after it), and it was more a case of one guy having more gas than the other. It took Vanier a while to get going, but he pouded out an exhausting Duarte in the 3rd.

for a weekly show, this is gonna be good stuff. Like i said this wasn't a brilliant show in terms of fights it wasn't shabby either, but everything else was dead on. I'll be tuning in each week :)

Finally got round to watching this.It was a pretty good night of fights,I enjoyed it.

Huerta vs Hinton was more competitive than I expected going in.Good fight and a pretty cool finish.Huerta gets a lot of stick online and stuff but he's usually always in good fights.I also thought this would've been main event with Huerta being the biggest name on the show.

And man the end of the Karakhanyan/Quach fight was nasty.Fun fight aswell.

Overall a decent enough show.Nothing amazing but nothing bad either, and a couple of fun fights.I'm a sucker for the tournament format anyway and with all the talent involved it'll be must see stuff every week for me.

I picked up a couple of DVDs of the Patriot Act shows which had Askren's first two MMA fights on (the one disc also features Tyron Woodley), but haven't got round to watching them yet. Reis was in a hell of a five rounder against Abel Cullum on one of the ShoXC cards, and Shad Lierley had one of my favourite all time fights (against Chris Horodecki in the IFL). The way that the IFL guys have struggled outside of that fed, means I am not expecting Shad to come away with the goods here. Jeff Curran is a great fighter aswell, although I know nothing about his opponent here.

Yeah I really like Curran.Looking forward to Askren,Reis etc aswell and I'm a Toby Imada fan for life after this

I had never seen that until looking through various 'end of year' type lists last year. Everyone was saying Imada/Masvidal was submission of the year, if not best submission they had ever seen, so I searched it out on youtube and it is absolutely amazing.
