I guess this is general politics. China has cracked down on protest in Hong Kong by making it illegal to hold a sign saying anything that can be construed as anti-government. The protestors have responded by holding up blank sheets of paper. Shopkeepers have joined in by putting blank post-it notes in their windows as a gesture of support (and if the police approach, they just write details of special offers on them.)

China should have been cracking down on them much harder and earlier, but at least now it's wide in the open that the US were major backers of the protestors and it's said that $29 million went towards them in the last 5 years alone and that's not including the funding from the Hong Kong billionaires like Jimmy Lai. This isn't anything comparable to BLM as many have tried to say, it's mostly right-wing racist anti-Chinese brats.

It's amazing how many will shit on America, their narratives and media until it's something against China and they suddenly agree.

Why are you pulling the one truly funny/good thing Brewdog has done in years out as being a reason to hate them. Hate them for exploiting their workers, not for making a beer taking the piss out of Dominic Cummings

I've never heard this take on it before. On the face of things, the anti extradition point seemed reasonable, but I really haven't read a lot of the detail. Do you have any more information on this?

Qiao Collective has been a great English language resource for this and more when it comes to a Chinese take on politics. But this was my first real exposure, and admittedly it's not from a major news site but it does do it's best to include sources https://www.mintpressnews.com/hong-kong-protest-united-states-destabilize-china/261712/

And there's every chance that there's a middle ground between both sides of the narrative but I do get fired up at how Western leftists are often quick to just believe what's said about Socialist countries and the global south in our media.

Not sure if it's been discussed anywhere but Kanye West running for president? Can't help but worry that he'll be the next president.

He's already preaching about god and being well known, following the trump approach. I really worry for the state of politics at the moment.

Has he not missed being able to be put on the ballot in a lot of states?
