UEWA introduces Cruiserweight Championship for wrestlers of 95 kgs and under!

As our media partner TheWrestlingPress.com made public earlier today, the UEWA (Union Of European Wrestling Alliances) is taking the next step and will be introducing the European Cruiserweight Championship for wrestlers up to 95 kgs in 2011.

As it became known in an interview with UEWA representatives, eight UEWA member promotions will be selected to hold an eight man tournament which is set to take place on may 21st in Oslo, Norway. Each of these member promotions will send one of their wrestlers to Norway. Every promotion can decide on their own if they want to nominate a wrestler or hold qualification matches to find their representative.

The first promotion that has already set a date for a qualification match is Germany-based UEWA-affiliate Catch Wrestling Norddeutschland who will hold a four way match at their next show on February 12th, 2011 in Tangstedt (near Hamburg), Germany. At this time, no wrestlers have been announced for this qualification bout.

Over the next weeks, UEWA will announce all available information on upcoming qualification matches and participants.

More information regarding UEWA and all its member promotions can be found at www.uewa.eu

On December 31st, our member promotion World Wide Pro Wrestling will officially cease operations and therefore be leaving the Union Of European Wrestling Alliances. UEWA regrets this decision made by WWPW management and would like to send their best wishes to everyone involded in WWPW, wishing them the best for their future.

With WWPW leaving, this leaves the UEWA with nine member promotions from eight countries including Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Scotland and Wales.

At this time, UEWA is in negotiations with promotions from other countries about joining the UEWA. Of course UEWA is always open to aspiring European promotions from countries who are not already covered by the UEWA yet so feel free to contact UEWA through www.uewa.eu
