Sancho
Hey fellas, I was wondering if someone could help me track down an old short film mockumentary kind of thing I watched when I was a kid.  It would of been out well over 15 years ago and it came on either channel 4 or 5.  it was a fake documentary about an English wrestling fan that eventually trains and has a match at a local wrestling show that’s taking place in a pub. The main character seems as though he might have learning difficulties or something.  it got a few chuckles out of me and I’ve been trying to track it down but can’t find anything anywhere about it. Because I haven’t seen it since then my memory of it is sketch.  any help would be much appreciated!
Otto Dem Wanz
Watching Survivor Series 2007 here, was it ever explained why HHH and Shawn Michael's started using the (Crippler) Crossface after Chris Benoit died? I can think of a couple of reasons why but don't think I've ever seen it articulated anywhere before.

"They're doing the crossface!" I can't find it now, but there was an interview with Shawn that week where he said it had to be brought back. If anyone was going to do, Hunter and Shawn were hardly going to get a bollocking for it.
Sphinx
I remember someone posting a video of Kofi not being invited to the New Day Pec Party in a hotel room. Does anyone know where I can find it? It was hilarious, especially Big E ad-libbing whilst pec dancing at the end. Edited January 9, 2020 by Sphinx
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted January 11, 2020 Awards Moderator Share Posted January 11, 2020 (edited) I’m trying to avoid AEW spoilers so can’t go into that thread, but is there any reason why this week’s Dynamite still isn’t on ITV Hub? Have they stopped putting it on there? Edited January 11, 2020 by HarmonicGenerator

No idea why it took them the extra day this week, but I expect it to keep on bumping down the priorities list the longer Dynamite goes.
Paid Members PunkStep Posted January 26, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted January 26, 2020 I heard somebody mention recently that Ilja Dragunov is the first Russian-born wrestler signed to WWE. Is that true? There must've been one Russian at some point? Looking at those billed from Russia: Uncle Ivan- American. Nikolai Volkoff- Croatian. Boris Zhukov- American. Kozlov- Ukrainian. Peter Orlov- Moldovan. Lana- American/Lithuanian. Anyone in developmental before from Mother Russia? Must be somebody.
Paid Members BomberPat Posted January 27, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted January 27, 2020 (edited) I don't think there is. It reminds me of WCW bringing in Victor Zangiev and Salman Hashimikov for the World Cup tag team thing they did at Starrcade in 1990 - it should have been a huge deal that they had these incredible Soviet wrestlers coming in for the first time, but the announcers couldn't put them over as the first Russian wrestlers to compete in the US, as they'd already had so many kayfabe Russians before them.  That said, "Russia" is a bit of a complicated construct - Kozlov and Orlov were born in the USSR, if not Russia. Edited January 27, 2020 by BomberPat

However globally the union was recognised as a single state, so Russia, Ukraine et al sort of existed as a state of the USSR but not a country in its own right. Edited January 28, 2020 by Tommy! Paid Members ElCece Posted January 29, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted January 29, 2020 It's interesting, no doubt all part of the suppression of national identity.
Paid Members BomberPat Posted January 29, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted January 29, 2020 Definitely an element of it, but it's more complex than that, as all national identities are. What constitutes "Russia" has changed over time - the USSR, the Russian Empire, today's Russian Federation. It's always been a hodgepodge of cultures, states, smaller communities, with varying acceptance of whether or not they're truly "Russian". The same is true of any nation state - the idea of a nation being a balanced equation of its borders, its people and its government is a relatively modern one - but made more complex by a nation as vast, and with such a public battle over its own identity, from Empire to Revolution, to Socialist Republic, to the USSR, to today, and with some of its constituent parts, like Crimea, strongly disputed. It almost feels like every time we describe something as "Russian", it requires an explanatory paragraph explaining precisely what we mean by "Russian".
Guest
Ours isn't a great deal clearer to be fair - what with the United Kingdom, Great Britain, Britain, and their individual components, all within but not defining the British Isles.
Paid Members BomberPat Posted January 29, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted January 29, 2020 Oh, absolutely. Living in Britain, but not the UK, I find myself explaining that on a very regular basis.
