Paid Members air_raid Posted April 9, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 9, 2015 I recall someone posting a picture of their ticket about two before the show and they had paid ¥18,000, which is just over £100 at current rates. However, it wasn't clear what section that was in but I assume it was a decent section. That would have been a VERY good section. You can get a decent ticket for Wrestle Kingdom for Y4K - Y5K, same as a Ryogoku show.
Paid Members Big Benny HG Posted April 9, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 9, 2015 Can someone explain 'Suplex City' to me? I obviously know it's to do with Brock Lesnar doing German suplexes. I saw it come up on the screen during WrestleMania as 'trending worldwide' on Twitter, then the fans were chanting it at Raw the next night, and now there seems to be mentions of it all over the place. But how did it actually start?
CTXRussomark
Lesnar shouted "Suplex City BITCH!" during the match. That's it.

But how did it actually start? Vince McMahon used to say it when he was commentating after common or garden vertical suplexes on occasion, as did Monsoon. Notwithstanding, no pronouns, and Suplex City (and a beauty)..
King Pitcos
Who was the commentator at the time that called them suplays? Lord Alfred?

Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted April 10, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 10, 2015 Gordon Solie totally trying to be above the audience with that shit. Imagine if someone did that not? "Its actually Death Vally Driver, not a AA, Maggle". There would be fucking hell on.
King Pitcos
Someone in the WWF around 1990 did it as well, but it was one of the rarer commentators. Someone on the network watch a Bulldog match that Hayes commentated on, I bet it was him.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted April 10, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 10, 2015 (edited) Had to be Lord Alfred then. Sean Mooney did what he was told, so he wouldnt have went all "suplay." Wouldnt have been Gorilla, either because Gorilla was so up his own arse he wouldnt start calling it something else after he'd previously called it a "suplex." Gorilla was always right. He didnt even post a retraction when he did an article saying Superstar Graham was dead. He just kept it going. Harry Wiseau
I'm watching Survivor Series 89 and Gorilla keeps referring to Brutus as the team captain of the Dream Team which Dusty was the captain of. Dick.
sammorgz
Bill Watts called it 'suplay' on an event I was watching the other day. Great American Bash 1991 I think it was.
King Pitcos
I've been struck by the notion that it was Terry Taylor I was thinking of.
Paid Members Your Fight Site Posted April 10, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 10, 2015 “Suplay” is the actual pronunciation of suplex. It’s a French word.
Paid Members gmoney Posted April 10, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 10, 2015 It's more likely to be Latin isn't it?
