How much could someone that got released and didn't own their name take the piss on their new name? Could Ryback have gone with Ryan Back? Or Ryebaq? Could Jack Swagger go for Jax Whagger? Or does the trademark preclude this kind of shenanigans? It honestly justĀ depends whether WWE gives a fuck or not. Technically stuff like U-Gene, Swoggle or GoldDustinĀ infringes their trademark because they are clearly trying to pass themselves off as the characters they portrayed in WWE. That's the important thing - the characters not the names. Hall and Nash never said "We're Razor and Diesel" but the implication, and their mannerisms, wereĀ enough for that lawsuit.. The flip side of it is, if WWE DOES give a fuck then there's very little recourse for the wrestlers. Cody Runnels surely has a legitimate claim to the name Rhodes, and itĀ would almost certainly hold up in court, but it just isn't worth the legal costs - or the heat -Ā Ā for him to fight it. Paid Members garynysmon Posted April 12, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted April 12, 2018 The ones that I find to be pretty scandalous areĀ cases such as the Dudley Boys, where they used the names before even coming to the WWE (i.e the company didn't even come up with it), yet they were still stopped from using it in TNA. Paid Members BomberPat Posted April 12, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted April 12, 2018 WWE bought up all ECW intellectual property rights, though, so they still owned the Dudleys name as it had belonged to ECW.
Merzbow
The Dudley name and gimmick were around before Bubba and D-Von too. It's Paul E's fault anyway, he told the pair they could have the name but did nothing legally to set that up.
Paid Members Statto Posted April 13, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted April 13, 2018 Anyone know anything at all about Luca Franchini, the WWE Italian commentator who looks like a proper hard bastard & is heavily tattooed? Obviously WWE arenāt quite so bothered about their foreign language guys being telegenic as they donāt get so much camera time, but he still looks quite different to the other guys when they do that rundown on PPVs, so he interests me. Paid Members Fatty Facesitter Posted April 15, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted April 15, 2018 What's WWE theory behind running 205 live post-Smackdown?Ā
WyattSheepMask
They havenāt got time to do it before RAW because thatās when they record Main Event, otherwise youād be running s 5hr show ever week.Ā Smackdown being 2hrs gives them the space to run in it. Running it before Smackdown and airing it on tape delay (but pretend itās live) would help it massively as the crowd wonāt be sat waitingĀ for a dark match featuring the main stars or just leaving completely
Paid Members Fatty Facesitter Posted April 15, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted April 15, 2018 Probably should've been more specific - I know that's why they record on the Tuesday, just not sure why they do it in that slot as you mentioned after Smackdown (even with the dark main event) rather than before?Ā

WyattSheepMask
Nothing that couldnāt be moved. The theory was that you'd have Smackdown live on regular TV and could use that to encourage people to watch 205 Live straight after (and maybe even sign up to the network to do so.) The timeslot was likely chosen in the 15 minute window when Vince is excited about a new idea before getting bored with it.
