  1. I think I said similar in this thread last year about Robins. I've spotted a Robin in our garden a few times over the last years since my Mam passed. My Dad passed away 2 weeks back so I shall keep an eye out and see if we get anymore.

  2. Tsurukyan's manager has said he was offered the Islam fight immediately after backstage but turned it down to the short turn around time.

You have to imagine Dustin found out about the Islam fight the same time as everyone else did.

  3. I'm sure the music isn't to the majority of people's tastes, but I've always loved the album cover for ICP's Riddlebox. The design was drawn by Shaggy in the 90s and the simple but effective colour work just pops off at you. I'd doodle it all over notepads and school books all the time.

  4. Paid a visit to Fish Kitchen 1854 which was rated Wales' no. 1 chippy and 2nd best in the UK in the 2023 National Fish and Chip awards.

Fish Supper with additional fishcake and a pot of Irish Curry.

Chips were absolutely cracking. Fluffy pillowy goodness. I must admit I thought the Fish we were served didn't look the greatest, but on eating it was beautiful. Batter was top notch and the fish was flakey and plentiful and fresh as it gets. Irish Curry had a fair bit of bite which was very welcome. Misses ate the fish cake so I can't comment but it didn't touch the sides.

Will for sure be going again. Bargain for £15.

There's been no fights in the AEW locker room bar the Punk one either it seems. He's the only one still doing this stuff.

Wasn't there an altercation with Eddie Kingston and Sammy Guevara a while back?

  6. Any excuse to post this

70 year old country fella plays Red Dead Redemption 2 for the first time. There's an entire series which I have been steadily binging the last few days. Absolutely wholesome content and his reactions to the Red Dead world are just fantastic.

  7. Knees over toes!

I don't really have knee issues aside from clicking, but I've definitely noticed a loss of leg strength/stability  while I've been skating recently, so I've been trying to do some of these exercises (Plenty on YouTube) and I've found it really does help to strengthen and apparently it's really good for repairing any issues too.

During lockdown I bought a basic weight bench with a 50kg plates and barbell. Since we've cleaned out the garage I've been trying to bench the 50kg for 3 sets of 5 reps. Not much but I'm only around 72kg (11.2 stone) so It feels heavy as shit to me. Also trying to get into a routine of doing kettlebell/dumbell exercises whilst I'm WFH.  Also trying to grt back into the Yoga routine. Stretching feels absolutely wonderful.

Nothing crazy, but I've certainly see a small difference over the last few weeks.  Hopefully I'll keep it up.

  8. I've always been kind of indifferent on Curtis Blaydes, but he completed his face turn for me on Saturday. Almeida is without doubt a very talented grappler, but he is no fun to watch at all. Am I correct in thinking he's potentially the only person to be threatened with being stood up from mount due to complete inactivity when he fought Lewis a few months back?

Show was good overall but yeah, I think I'd built it up a bit more in my mind. Main and Co main were both entertaining in their own ways. Really hope Merab gets his shot next and with Gaethje and Max booked for next month, Dustin could find himself walking into a title shot.

  9. Are Less Than Jake / Bowling for soup alternating the headline slot?

Me and the Mrs are off to the Cardiff show next week. Less Than Jake are probably one of my favourite bands, and whilst I don't dislike them, I'm not too bothered about BFS. Hopefully LTJ go on first and I can get an earlier-ish train back and avoid the Friday night carnage.

  10. I think you nailed it all there, Wand. Conor doesn't need the UFC and he's never shy about biting back if he feels insulted or threatened, so it's gonna be interesting to see how this unfolds over the next couple of months.

    🥱

This is just boring now. I'm by no means a Conor supporter, but the guy has been saying for the best part of a year he wants to fight. He's thrown out 300 and July but Dana seems non-comital on all of it and now we have these comments. McGregor only has 2 fights left on his current deal, so I wouldn't be surprised to find the delay is all with the UFC who are scrambling to re-sign him and won't play ball until he does. Very similar to Nate Diaz.

    Farce.

  12. Based off his interviews and bits he's said in the past, it feels to me that Costa signed a really terrible fight contract a while back and a lot of the fallouts have been based on him trying to get something on top of what he's agreed initially. The stuff with Marvin Vettori, the failed Aliskerov and Cannonier fights and his general lack of care about it all said a lot. When he got the Chimaev fight it kinda felt liked he's sorted his issues with the UFC and it was all in, but in typical Costa fashion, it went tits up again, but for once it seemed like it wasn't his fault.

I'm a fan. The Mtfk looks like a blown up Clark Kent and he's usually good value in the cage.

    Bring on the juice!

I did wonder about that, but wasn't sure as it didn't harm the other fighters who have a relationship with him, like Khabib. But then maybe things have changed because of Ukraine.

You'd certainly be more in the loop with those issues than I would, but I feel it has to be a little deeper than what's on the surface. Dana has looked redder than ever this week talking about the hurdles they're having to try and get over to make whatever fight they're alluding to actually happen at 300.

Khamzat barely fights once a year and hasn't really settled on a weight class despite obviously struggling to make the Welterweight limit... It's such an odd run, and the UFC seem happy to accommodate him regardless. I can't imagine most other fighters getting the kind of rope he has.

  14. The Khamzat issues surely stem from his tight relationship with Kadyrov, no?

The fact that Ariel is reporting UFC were considering him for both the 170 and 185 title matches is pretty insane based off his inactivity and inability to actually make 170lbs. Either way, he's since come out and said he won't be on UFC 300 because of Ramadan, so all this if true has been for nowt.

  15. I thought the presser was good fun and whilst Cody does look a bit silly and none of this really needed to happen, it'll be soon forgotten by the masses and a heel Rock in the mix certainly adds another layer and bit of interest to it all.

As always, the reaction in these threads is often the best part about the wrestling these days. Certainly kept me entertained this morning.

I love the gulf of difference between the names he's throwing out. The winner or the loser?

I can't recall who it was he fought last, but I remember him getting absolutely steamrolled in a bit of a 'being fed to the lions' scenario. If he does end up back in the UFC, I can't see them doing him any favours matchmaking wise.

I always whatever happened to him.  Was one of the main contributors to the MMA forum (along with Wand and ebb) when I used to semi-regularly post in there, then just seemed to stop posting overnight.

Yeah he was such a regular that it was quite jarring that he just stopped posting. He never seemed to have any issues with others and always seemed to massively enjoy the chatter, so it was very odd.

As said, I put it down to Covid as I didn't recall the log-in issues. I'm not sure what this says about me but  seeing his profile said  he lived in Crewe, I've googled various things like 'Jim Crewe UFC' (sounds ridiculous but he was a huge fan) to see if anything popped up, obit or otherwise.

    ... I'll see myself out.

  18. @jimufctna24 Was a daily contributor to the Boxing/MMA threads who seemingly stopped posting during Covid. - I hope he's OK.

On this, I ended up going through the 'welcome to the MMA forum' post for some reason and it's  crazy how many others stopped posting during Covid... It hit us hard.
