Also, are they legally allowed to show footage of someone else who is contracted to their competitor as an actual segment? Feels like a really risky move for something that's going to have absolutely zero benefit to the show or company other than stroking egos.

If its footage that was shot while he was working for them then yes,100% they can use it. In the same way WWE can include footage of Edge in a highlight reel now if they want. They own it.

It gets a bit murkier if it's CCTV footage as UK privacy and GDPR come into play as its not AEWs footage, was in a private venue and would be published without (I assume) at least one parties consent.

With all the legal back and forth that's happened up to this point, there is zero way Punk hasn't seen this footage already so I doubt it's a huge gotcha moment.

Foley is a massive weirdo. There has to be some creepy grift to every project he's involved it. Like signing up to RAINN just to get closer to Tory Amos. Or his obsession with Melina. Its not normal, mate!

A friend of mine got dragged by her then bf to one of his meet and greets about 10 years ago and he slid into her dms the second he was tagged in the photo. She has zero interest in wrestling so any slither of appeal he would have was lost on her. Her nickname for him was 'Creepy Uncle Mick'

  3. As someone who has edited family portraits, the moment I saw it I could see it was just the best bits of a few different takes poorly edited together, which is standard for something like this because 3 kids in a posed photo is like herding cats.

It doesn't help that they also seemed to have changed the colour of some of the clothes

It's just badly done, which as Pat says, is more a product of its time with newer royals doing their own thing (official photos never would have come straight from the royal. They would always be via the press office, who are there to catch and manage these things which is why this very rarely happens in the past)

The AP shouldn't have published it. They have very very strict rules about editing. You can't even submit a photo with red eye removed.

This is just a vent, but I actually feel like I am at breaking point with my job which I've done for 15 years.

I have a specialist role - you could train someone to do it but that would take a couple of months. There is two of us who do this job with over a thousand people relying on info and support.

3 weeks ago I got an email from my manager saying the other person was off sick. He didn't return the following week so I asked if there was a strategy in place as I was starting to get a lot of questions from his area.

No reply. I suggested that someone supports me and I delegate some aspects of the job that wouldn't really need training and that I look after the big picture things. Said they would come back to me.

i then got an email not from my manager but from a peer saying that I needed to do everything and that they could count on me for the foreseeable.

Issue is, this is sending me to breaking point. There is far too much work for one person and I feel like I am fire fighting or not able to give proper attention to what I am doing. I'm exhausted after just a week.

I asked to speak to my manager and instead got a message back from the same peer saying that resources are stretched.

So. Should I keep battling on and trying my best?

Say fuck it and join my colleague on the sick?

I had the same issue when they gutted my team. I listed everything I did, sent it to my manager and said pick which ones I prioritise as I'm currently covering 70 man hours per week and it's not sustainable.

  5. Osprey is in a position where he doesn't need the title at the moment.  Similar to Danielson. You can probably line up 8 months of dream matches and feuds before you put him near a title picture. Swerve is the right choice for the title for now and would probably be a fantastic title feud with Osprey down the line.

Yeah I was really surprised about that when I read it. The Aussie market seems to be constantly full of reality stuff so maybe there was just too much for it to stand out, but I'm always seeing Aussie versions of stuff popping up (Survivor, Apprentice etc). Not sure where they went wrong as their efforts on both series were really solid. Maybe it wasn't marketed very well or something.

I could be talking absolute shite but I remember reading that part of the Aussie broadcast rules is that there has to be a majority of home produced content to allow them to show imported shows, similar to the BBC, which is why there main output seems to be reality tv shows that last an absolute fucking age, Masterchef Australia being over 60 episodes a series being the best example. It also means they have very little tolerance for shorter run shows.

  7. Hairy Bikers is our go to for lazy Sunday morning tv and theres probably half a dozen recipes that are 'go tos' for me, especially from their Asia TV series.

It's very rare that someone who tries to come across as a down to earth, every man, doesn't get found out to be a total twat in real life (James Martin syndrome) but by all accounts he was a lovely fella and I think it really did shine through in the programmes.

  8. My main gripe was they were far too subtle with Kerrys drug use. They showed him doing some coke but, by all accounts, he was strung out most of the time and was a full on space cadet. You really didn't get a sense of how out of it he was.

  9. Today I learned that Jennifer Saunders character in Ab Fab, Eddie Monsoon, is also the name of a character played by her husband Ade Edmunson in The comic strip presents. Both are named after the the pronunciation of his surname Ed Monsoon/Edmunson. A version of this is also the reason for his character in Bottom having the first name Eddie.

Not very spicy, which is great as it means you can use it liberally. It has a really lovely crispy crunchy texture that no other chilli oil I've had has. Highly recommended.

I can legit eat this straight out the jar with a spoon and get theough far too much of it. lovely stuff.

"Recovering" alcoholic Les isn't he? Not to be that guy and ruin the fun but not great hearing of him like this

He lives in my home town in North Wales and is always in the pub. Never to the extent he was years ago but he's certainly not tee total.

Another little thing - I fucking hate when they slow down the tackle that ends a game on The Edge. Overproduced shite. The whole drama is in watching the fall in real time and we never get to, the replay is in slow-mo as well, and the Gladiators fucking up and falling off is way more exciting if we're just seeing it as is because it's so sudden.

Everything that doesn't work is something they've tried to introduce to freshen it up. The slow mo, the digital crash zooms when they replay an impact or a fall, the locker room cam. Its crazy how well the old format just works without faffing about.

Sounds interesting. Can you recommend a book or article where i could read more about this?

Marvel Comics: The Untold Story by Sean Howe is probably the best one, really gets into the sheer scope of how many bad decisions they've made as a company, the crackpot (and cutthroat mind) of Stan Lee and is built around interviews with the people who were there.

They were so desperate for money that they were selling off the rights to their characters to anyone that showed any interest which led to, at one point, David Bowies ex wife, Angela owning the TV rights to Daredevil, which gave us this haunting image.

Another thing I don't think anyone mentioned is that Marvel actively buried the fantastic four for years to the point of even cancelling the comics while other studios owned the rights, I'm sure that hasn't helped with the way they're perceived, it used to be a huge title for them.

It's forgotten with how well they've done since the MCU but Marvel have gone scorched earth with their own stuff so many times because they had lost control of their licences. The films helped the xmen become their biggest franchise and despite them still holding the rights to the merch from the films they refused to release tie ins, because they didn't want fox to have thier small percentage. Same with the Fantastic Four. They are fantastic books written about how many dumb decisions Marvel have made over the years. They were happy to kill off the popularity of their characters, just so they could have them back.

Nobody cares about FF because the last three movies bombed and were shit. It'll be hard to get casuals to care.

    Absolute bobbins.

The Trank film was a disaster on every level by a studio that had lost the plot. The other 2 FF films were decent hits, earning more money than Incredible Hulk, Captain America and Xmen. They made more money than Into the Spiderverse! Getting casual fans through the door is in no way an issue for a Fantastic Four movie.

Deadpool 3 was due to the Super Bowl. X-Men because it starts in just over a months time. The FF announcement I think was a diversion.

Deadpool was always going out for the superbowl as its their only release this year. Xmen could have been released anytime in the next couple of weeks (or last week) and still have a month's build up, in fact it's been coming for so long that an announcement at any time would do. I honestly can't think of another time where a single franchise has had 3 things announced in the same week outside of a big event like comic con. The only other explanation is they've jumped on the crazy numbers the Deadpool / wolverine l trailer has done and released it early.
