I've always thought 'Party Hard' by Andrew WK is a great All-Star Wrestling, full-on babyface 'get the crowd going' kind of track.

Also, during my tenure training at FWA North East (RIP) in 2005 we were coming up with gimmicks and I thought of a 'fat stripper who thinks he's the sexiest man alive' gimmick. His entrance music would have been 'I Touch Myself' by the Divinyls.

Party Hard has been Eddie Dennis' theme for years I think.

  2. Update from TM regarding the Saturday welcome party, all meet and greets are included in the price already paid which is good news.

Was it the WWA arena shows over here that had the commentary playing over the PA? Ah, good times. As if referees don’t struggle to retain credibility at the best of times. Those poor bastards had to not only look the other way when heels were cheating, but also pretend they were deaf and couldn’t hear Jeremy Borash’s booming voice, meticulously detailing exactly what was happening.

Those shows were an absolute blast.  Borash and Disco Inferno live commentary, Norman Smiley on duty along with Sting's first live shows outside of WCW - good times

A bag no bigger than a sheet of A4 paper. What on earth.

Standard practice for stadium events now days, all major football stadiums have the exact same bad policy in place.  It had been in place in the states at all the NFL stadium for years prior and in recent years the same policy made its way over here.

It's a picture with Sting, Saraya, Darby Allin, Chris Jericho, Luchasaurus and Christian Cage - all but the latter two are already booked on the card.

Not sure what Luchasaurus and Christian will be doing, given they're feuding with Darby and he's already in a match, but it's not a massive surprise that one of their reigning champions will probably be on the show.

That's the same poster that's been plastered all over every station on the London underground for the past month now.

Some of the Mattel reveals at SDCC for the WWE lines have been spectacular for how much deep diving they’re doing, for instance Racist Terry is not only getting an exclusive 3 stages figure set as well as different Hollywood figures and a new Hasbro-style retro, we’re also getting late 70s/early 80’s longer hair ‘Incredible’ Hulk in the Remco AWA tribute line and a black trunks Japan version Hulk as well

Also there’s elite figures for Fake Diesel and the Sultan, a Hart Foundation two pack in their newer Colliseum Collection line which has both the iconic Tag Tag designs but also the version that predates those belts and a box set of Rock, his dad Rocky and a first time figure of the High Chief Peter Maivia

The Terry Gordy/Executioner reveal was a nice surprise as well!

Not usually interested in customs but saw on Twitter today someone's done a Road Dog custom with the "jump" action... perfectly in keeping with Hasbro tradition of sometimes disregarding whether action fits the wrestler. You can definitely create a "high flyers" dream match now, of Roadie vs Repo Man.

As an aside, I always wished they used a mechanism similar to the Hulkster Hug to give 92 Crush a head vice action rather than the suplex. Him being visibly shorter than most of the other figures was shit too, El Matador should not be taller than fucking Crush.

Not sure if it's the same on you've seen but the Hasbro style Road Dogg with the jump action is getting an official release from Mattel this year and was unveiled at San Diego Comic Con yesterday.

I asked the ticket agent at wembley and she did not know anything. Did not get a chance to get tickets 4 the fanfest and pre show etc.

Saturday morning 10-2 at Box Park is the official AEW "fan convention" meet&greets etc, tickets were available on checkout page and were priced at £60 per ticket.

  9. For anyone buying tickets later you'll also see there is an add on at checkout for an Axess style event being held at Boxpark on the morning of the show.  Meet and greets, photo ops, Q&As etc.  £60 a ticket.

Random seat allocation? Can't even pick a section?

You can't pick a specific section but you can select what price bracket you want and if you want level 1, 2, 3 or pitch seating.  These options are at the bottom of the page on the right hand bar.

  11. Well that was one of the smoothest ticketmaster experiences I've ever had for a show, got in no problems and secured tickets in section 221 which is one of the blocks I was aiming for.

How much of an unknown was Wembley Stadium back with SummerSlam 92, especially without Hulk Hogan?

I'm not comparing current AEW with early 90s WWF in terms of popularity, but I remember it being mainstream for wrestling rather than truly mainstream.

It was quite a jump from places they'd toured before, especially for a non-Hogan show.

Basically, I wonder how much of it was a must-see because it felt like a one-off. It must have been a serious amount of the audience's first wrestling (or WWF at least) show.

And that makes me wonder how much it seeming like a one-off big show will bring out people who wouldn't go to see it otherwise.

I'm fascinated to see how they do.

I mean they had Slam Jam in the top 5 of the UK music charts in 92, the WWF was huge! I was in primary school back then and every kid watched or was aware of the WWF, the VHS tapes, action figures, stickers etc etc were absolutely everywhere.

London stadium housed almost all the same events and isn’t a pain in the arse to get to either.

Definitely had a few great concerts but never hosted the NFL, believe that's only Wembley, Twickenham and Spurs.  The NFL obviously gives the stadium good awareness stateside so would look an attractive option.

Aside from the fact it's a logistical nightmare to get to WHL (as previously mentioned in this thread I believe), the unpredictable nature of British weather especially in terms of rain and the lack of a roof surely means they won't be running anywhere other than Cardiff for a stadium show.

If the Tottenham Stadium can house the full time fixtures of a premier League team, 2 NFL fixtures a year, host a Tyson Fury world title fight, Lady Gaga, Guns N Roses and will be hosting Beyonce on 5 consecutive nights in June then I hardly think small time in comparison WWE will be turning their nose up at it!

Cardiff was a real success story but they can't solely run that venue in the UK forevermore.  I think they will be happy to continue running arenas cover stadiums over here, pack less people in but charge 5x the price seems to be their business model for MITB.

Is potential rain really a deal breaker? They run plenty of stadium shows in the states that are roofless.  I went to MetLife in 2019 which was roofless and we got rain, pot luck really!

Has anyone got any info on shipping costs from Ringside Collectibles, and what i'm likely to pay on the retro's wave 1 pack, please?

I've recently got back into trying to pick these up and bought several more from the previous releases to fill in some of the blanks. Want to try to stay ahead of these newer releases this time

If you are after Mattel Retro figures then buy direct from Mattel Creations, total UK shipping is £9.  They launched the latest wave today which features Lex Luger, Tugboat, Doink and Greg Valentine.

Didn’t Khan say he wasn’t going to be doing events during Wrestlemania weekend and that it only occurred last year as it was booked prior to his purchase of the company?

It's a Wrestlemania weekend tradition, and a big part of it for many who attend Mania weekend.  I think it would be very hard for Tony to deviate from the tradition, as it's so engrained within the weekend festivities.
