Is there any chance that The Rock, or more accurately Dwayne Johnson, sees all the negative reaction he’s getting and drops out? He can have his match with Reigns down the line. Does he really want his big comeback to be potentially drowned out in a sea of boos?

He didn’t look at all happy when Reigns won the Rumble years ago and the crowd shat all over it, and he didn’t want to work in the Thunderdome, so he clearly cares about crowd reactions.

The Reigns Rumble was especially funny because Rock was completely surprised by it, showing how he clearly didnt keep up with the show and he paid for his ignorance. Looks like he's paying for it again on a much bigger scale.

A normal person would sort this out sharpish, but who knows where Rock's head is at. He's been the meaningless positive slogan instagram guy for years and years. His brain may be mush.

He wont drop out but he'll certainly be gutted about getting booed. Him being thin-skinned about Black Adam bombing last year was the first time Ive seen him drop the Mr Positive act of his. I'd love to see heel Hollywood Rock again but I dont think he has it in him.

  2. You think Jericho will wrestle tonight? Could be pretty risky from the crowd.

"Kylie Rae" chant would be great.

This could have mega consequences. If Tony ignored this, AEW is pretty fucked. If Meltzer ignored this (Jericho being a long time leaker), The Observer is fucked. Damn, I feel a tidal wave coming.

Jericho has a lot of mega annoying fans online though, they'll be a lot of defenders.

  3. Belated report from the rafters. I was in the second to last row, opposite the entrance. You could see the whole ring but everything was so tiny your eyes were drawn to the screen. I was also too high to see any of the fireworks shooting off the roof haha.

The biggest arena I’ve been to for anything was 20k in the 02, so Wembley Stadium was pretty incredible to me. A few times I had to cover my ears due to the volume from the crowd.

The only real drawback were the steep stairs. I only walked down them twice and I was slower than your granddad. After the pre-show I literally got another drink then sat back in my seat from 6-9, specifically to avoid climbing down them again.

Perhaps I’m a sensitive soul because some people were jogging down them, little kids jumping about etc. Special shout out to the people walking up and down with a tray of four beers or the Mums with multiple baskets of chicken in both hands. Fuck that!

I really enjoyed the show, no bad matches. I would love to have seen Grado and Jarrett but completely missed them, when did Zero Hour become two? Was annoyed when I found about it after the show.

    - Punk vs Joe was good. Was fun seeing Punk's crowd reaction alter throughout the match. Was nice to see the pro-Trans sign moment afterwards too. It got a big cheer and was a nice contrast from the nutters I see on Twitter. It's good to know most people in the real world are supportive/ indifferent.

With tonight’s news, do you think we witnessed Punks last match for a few years? Possibly ever?

    - Kenny Omega was one of the people I really wanted to see live and was happy to see him. It was a solid but pretty unmemorable match honestly. Don got HUGE boos when he was on screen.

    - The Tag title match sucked me in as it went on. The biggest in-ring reaction in my section was from the last near fall. Everyone went batshit! Excellent stuff.

    - I figured Stadium Stampede would be an awesome view from the nosebleed seats, I was wrong. Primarily because they didn’t use spotlights on anyone (I guess it was too bright outside?). Unless it was in the ring or on the screen we didn’t see it. For chunks of it our section was near silent, it was weird.

The over-use of barbed wire, glass and introduction of skewers to the head made me wince, but that horse bolted long ago. Are BCC heels? Who knows, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the ride. I loved seeing Eddie. Great finish.

    - The other person I really wanted to see was Hayter and specifically the big reaction to her winning, so this women’s match was always going to be a bitter pill to swallow. Saraya’s mum getting smacked made it more interesting, but I couldn’t really give a shit about the result. Her win got a huge reaction from my lot, multiple grown men standing in their seats clapping, the blind patriotism was mortifying. Felt very hollow to me, Get well soon Jamie!

I did see Saraya say at the press conference that she was hoping to have more singles matches now, which is good seeing as she’s the fucking champion of the whole division!

    - I thought the coffin match was a near miracle. I was just chuffed to see Sting but it was a really great match with some fun spots. Sting not breaking the table with a splash then just getting back up and chucking himself arse first was hilarious.

Felt bad for Nick Wayne, that vignette of him being near killed at the wrestling school was absolutely vicious, but he was carried away by Luchasaurus like a naughty kid. Not even allowed to celebrate with Sting & Darby at the end.

    - I want it on record that I did NOT sing along to Jericho's theme, I sat arms folded while everyone else had fun. I'm not a fan of either guy but it was a decent match. I'll also praise whoever told Jericho to only go a few minutes with his performance. I genuinely thought it was going to be a 15 minute mini concert. When he started doing the Freddie Mercury repeat stuff my heart sank, but it was over quick.

I am one of those heathens that left during the 6 man and completely missed the main event. I'm an anxious casual and I really wanted to avoid the crowds and especially the dreaded night bus. So I was really chuffed my tube connection was closed due to a 'fire alert' and had to scramble around and eventually get the fucking bus!

Overall it was an excellent experience. Great show and will hopefully be there next year. If you’re on a budget or a casual then cheap seats are a decent purchase but I think to avoid potential Vertigo and better view of the entrance and fireworks I'll go for tickets lower in the stadium next time.

The good thing about it being a year away is it’s easy to save for, £90 tickets aren’t so mental if you have to put £7.50 a month in your AEW piggy bank. I'll be closer to an exit too so it’s easy to watch the whole show and be near to the bogs, over-priced beer and baskets of chicken. Ooh I’ll be King for a day and hopefully too tipsy to care about facing the night bus.

  4. I think i'll need binoculars for the screens, nevermind the ring. At least you can really soak up the atmosphere from the nosebleed seats...

Never been to a stadium show before, but i'm getting pumped!

  5. Too many tags and multi-mans!

None of these fuckers will volunteer for short and sweet matches either. I predict the women and coffin match get fucked for time and everyone else goes long and tries to steal the show.

Definite night bus across london for me. At least its summer.

  6. Email from Ticketmaster with new doors opening time of 3.30pm and event starts 5.00pm.

So starting an hour earlier. Please dont be a five hour show guys.

  7. I didnt think they ever showed Playhouse in the UK, I never saw it or heard about it. I did see (and love) Big Adventure though and that was one of the movies as a kid I would rewatch on vhs constantly.

The broadway show from ten years ago had an awesome light effect / set reveal to kick off the show. Would have been great to see it live, the crowd go mental for it.

  8. Hopefully Jericho has enough of a spell over Tony that he can convince him to make this the main event. Then I can avoid the match, sing along and (most importantly) the night bus.

  9. I cant imagine how stressful it would be promoting a show.

The only thing to make it more stressful would be to rip loads of people off and having them hating me and chasing me for their money for the rest of my life. I'd have a heart attack from it. What is the point of all this?

There was a buyer in place that was going to purchase the company

Haha, what 'company'? Do they even own the ring? Its an excel spreadsheet on his laptop (which sums dont add up.)

  10. Not a strong year in my opinion. France and Belgium were catchy, Finland was fun and silly. Sweden was solid, but not a patch on 'Euphoria' from years ago.

Sweden is fav to win but it didnt blow me away. Seems a pretty open field to me.

If Jemini dont appear in the intermission, we riot.

  11. You know its going to be a serious, hard-hitting grudge match when the stipulation helps to highlight the Mountain Dew logo on the canvas. An absolute fucking embarrassment. I'm new to Uncle Howdy, is there a reason he has the dumbest, least scary name ever? As others have mentioned the useless direction made no attempt to hide the distance between him and Knight after the stage jump.

I only watch one or two shows a year these days, so the fake crowd noises are still jarring to me. Big noise and the crowd sitting on their hands. Do WWE crowds not jump up and down like nutters anymore? They did a wide shot when it got to the final three women and the stadium looked pretty still.

The worst was the big 'pop' for Logan Pauls entrance then a showering of boo's once he was in the ring. He's a con artist cunt, but that collision with Ricochet looked amazing. One event that didnt sound like a fake pop was Sami's chairshot. Ive not heard a genuine roar like that in years.

Kofi’s elimination seemingly went nowhere. Is his foot still in the air? Will we ever find out?!

I presume he fucked it up (which he did last year too?) and Cole was trying to give him a second chance, but it would have been too contrived. I felt bad when they mentioned he's been in 14(!) rumbles, Miz and Ziggler with a similar number. Really highlights the guys that have spent many years drifting along.

  12. Interesting story from Mick at 3:18. I thought he was joking at first and was going to say he got paid for his air ticket and went straight back home but nope, he watched some old lady count out money to bail out her moron Grandson.

I guess its tougher when you've flown across a massive country like the US, but isnt he big/trusted enough to get paid upfront or at least a big deposit? What a shite business.

  13. Even in my lowest times of interest I would always watch the Rumble and Mania live, but the last few years Ive watched the next morning and I never even bothered watching the Covid Mania.

But I'm up for this. Not even a big Punk fan, but I love big moments. Lets goo!

Plus to be honest there's not a single moment I can think of last night that I actually thought they were interfering with the crowd noise. So if they've found a less obvious way of doing it than before then good.

Ive not watched much WWE in about 2 years, not even last years Mania. I thought the crowd noise was massively noticeable all night. Really surprised by a few of you saying you werent bothered by it.

The best were the 'cheers' after a millisecond of genuine Booing whenever Hogan opened his mouth at the start.

I cant believe Hogan actually got booed! Considering how blind/forgiving most fans are, he's actually fucked it. In shitty Florida too!

Strange, Ive only watched Night 1 so far but there were leg slaps all over the place, including a slow mo (with leg slap) of Seth smacking Cesaro in the back of the head.

"McMahon's chauffeur" was James Dudley; the first African-American to run a major US arena, who had been part of the Capitol Wrestling promotion before it even became the WWWF, one of the only people to have worked with Jess McMahon, Vince Sr and Vince Jr., as well as working as a manager. The only reason he ever worked as a chauffeur is because Vince wanted to ensure he stayed on the payroll long after his retirement.

Frankly, the Hall of Fame would be better for acknowledging more people like him, not fewer. The "Vince's limo driver" criticism was always bullshit.

I know this was posted a month ago, but I also just thought the guy was Vince's driver. Very interesting giving him a google after reading this.

I think doubling up this year is a bad move. There's too many people in already and some of those were wasted opportunities. Foley was 4th on the sheet and barely scraped into the TV show when he was inducted. He'd be an easy main event inductee today. 3/4 person limit, plenty of time for speeches and doesn't lead to a 3 hour show which everyone moans about having to sit through.

  16. Fucking hell just watched the show. I'm gobsmacked at that ending cock up because if any wrestling fan has seen an exploding ring match it was the Foley/Funk one from King of the Death match 95 right? Or we've at least read about it and its disappointing ending in Foley's book? That was the first tape I got from a tape trader and even knowing about the ending being terrible from Have a Nice day, I was amazed at how bad it was. AEW would never do anything close to that surely? You had one job, Oof!

Not only was it shit but it included Diesel corner pyro and a big gap in the middle of the hard cam. If they used ten times as much, it still would have looked terrible.

I feel sorry for Moxley and Omega, they must be gutted. I thought most of the stuff they did looked great and vicious, but was let down by production. The barbed wire boards, exploding baseball bat, one winged angel on a chair etc looked brutal. But the vicious spiked DDT to the outside had its shine taken off due to the shite bombs being miles away from them (using a little ring rope explosives around two of the edges would have looked great.) and the ring rope explosions would have looked incredible from the hard cam (with cherry picked replay close ups), but numerous shots showed the explosives being no where near the lads. Side cam showed Kenny was 3 feet away from Moxley's foot explosion that 'blinded' him. It would have looked great on the hard cam.

I think stuff in the match was vicious enough for Moxley to go on maternity leave and Kenny could have beat the shit out of some randomer on Dynamite who was 'in charge' of the cocked up explosion. But Moxley did a post match interview and Kingston still looks like a plum, so those poor sods are gonna have to get blown up again somehow.

Also, covering a guy to save them at the end is/was an Onita thing. So this situation is full of deathmatch nerds! I cant believe it was that much of a fuck up. Waiting around for five minutes for the countdown was weird too, shave some time off like they do in the Rumble when its too boring.

Cody loitering about in the entrance way keeping the focus on himself, Hogan would’ve been proud.

Haha. Jake Roberts made me laugh sitting on the hard cam apron for ages in his bright red shirt. The refs had to carry him away, its not about you Jake.

As someone said earlier Christian without hype would have been great, but was underwhelming here and will have lost some goodwill for Tony Khan, not close to Dixie territory yet, but it could happen with a few more letdowns.

I don't watch much wrestling these days but I thought id try the PPV and pre show Dynamite. Its watchable but I'm not going to watch weekly. They really need a quality control person to go over everything. One example is blood being in many matches, completely devaluing the main event blood. If the main event is going to be bloody, no one else is allowed to bleed on the show! Also someone diving into the crowd, killed the spot in the women's match afterward which featured a dumping someone in the crowd spot.

Also Excalibur looked like shit in one of the promos in his hoodie and Oasis shirt.

I think there’s a story when AEW use shaq and Mike Tyson and get absolutely nothing from it

That its pointless to use celebs whose fame peaked decades ago?

If Lady Gaga tweets that's she's turning up next week to get revenge about the dog walker line, a lot of her hardcore fans who don't watch wrestling will probably check it out. Shaq retired from basketball 10 years ago and Tyson peaked 20 years ago(?) They don't have thousands of hardcore fans who will watch absolutely anything they are involved with anymore. (Shite booking wont help either.)
