You're not wrong. But those guys know what sells and what doesn't. So you print up a load of the top selling merch, throw in whoever is booked on that episode, and boom, you're mustard. It shouldn't be difficult, and they seemed to do an OK job at Wembley in comparison to their usual, but this is what happens when you work with companies like PWT and Jazwares over Fanatics and Mattel, you get second rate returns. If I was in charge I would allow PWT to run the online operations but get an events company to run live events merchandise.

It's been bad since day 1. People were being rather optimistic when Matt Jackson's wife left that there would be a significant change for the better.

These complaints tend to gain more traction though when its multiple people at the start of the show complaining about it. Not just the usual suspects online sharing the same pic.

Is it too much of a stretch to think the reason Chris Jericho won’t take the hint and fuck off is because he’s trying to work through his AEW contract as soon as possible, in order to make the jump back to WWE? It’s the only thing that makes sense at this point.

Aging wrestler clinging to his spot because if he disappears off TV he'd be a complete afterthought.

Can't say I've ever seen anything like that before 🤔

With Copeland’s win technically happening on this show, is that one of the first Title switches on Rampage? Nothing comes to mind when I try and think of another one.

Christian v. Kenny Omega for the Impact World Title on the first Rampage is the only one that comes immediately to mind.

Have they explained why Eddie’s now defending the belts separately instead of as the Crown? As he’s also lined up to only defending the ROH title against Mark Briscoe at Supercard of Honor which, assuming he loses tonight and then, would only leave him with the NJPW Strong belt

The idea of the new American Triple Crown was undone almost as soon as it was won. It's been messy the whole time and clear it wasn't long for this world.

  5. Mercedes still needs a better finish than that. I see Mikey Ruckus is making it clear he didn't make the entrance music. I think it works with a decent sized crowd invested in here. Turns up at a random show with 3k in attendance, not so great.

Good show overall. The Bang Bang Scissor Gang thankfully coming to an end. Maybe they can get to merging the two Trios titles. ROH certainly doesn't need one and being honest AEW doesn't really as its often been a vanity belt that's cannibalised the Tag Division.

Surprised they're going straight to Eddie and Okada at next week's Dynamite. As was feared in the confusion of the Triple Crown status of the belts once the tournament came to an end, the match is only for the Continental Crown. Which means Okada should walk out with fewer belts than the loser  AEW logic and presentation.

I hope it is true. I hope every wrestler rinses every promoter for as much money as possible.

In NJPW he was said to be on around $2m a few years ago. Which for the top star in a company with revenues in the $40-50m would hardly be surprising. That'd be tied to the yen unfortunately for him (2019: $1 = 109yen / 2024: $1 = 147 yen).

No doubt he's in a better financial position than before. Unless its the old WCW contract information I take any public statements on money as purely kayfabe.

Kevin Kelly only felt improved because they replaced him on lead with Schiavone. Once Big Tone and Nigel started gelling, Kelly was just sort of there to fill in the gaps. I won’t miss him at all.

At worst, they’ll keep it as a two man booth and Tony and Nigel can continue being great together. At best, they’ll insist on it being a three-man team we’ll see the return of the Ricca-bone-zone.

Can see it being Nigel and Tony with JR out for the main events again. Ross just signed the extension and back to making appearances.

  8. The Okada debut was spoiled for quite a while now. One of the problems with being terminally online. News he was signed. Initial speculation he would be part of Big Business. Then for the last week or so everyone in the know was saying expect him at the Georgia tapings.

The pairing with the Bucks could be decent. Coming in as a heel rather than coasting on his reputation gives him a direction. A first feud with Eddie that sees him draped in gold. Omega and OC down the line. Getting the dynamic between him and the Bucks will be important. Young boy on BTE bits were funny glimpses into his real life persona, but he needs to be presented as a Boss and not a glorified lackey. They need to avoid the trap Takeshita fell into standing in the background while Callis hogs the spotlight.

Jericho's just leeching onto everyone he can. As he keeps having these CMLL match ups. There is a direction I would be interested in seeing. I just doubt he'd go there. Build to a hair v. hair/mask match with someone at Forbidden Door or a big show in CMLL/AEW. Have him lose and disappear, or at least forced into reinventing himself by stripping him of the look he's been sporting for 5 years.

surely he’d have preferred wrestling tags on weekly TV than sulking on Twitter as a singles.

To be fair to him, both before and after the leg inury, he's been fairly active on the indies to pursue the singles dream he wanted.

While he was liable to the vague tweting. He has backed it up rather than sit at home when healthy.

This was all kinds of stupid obviously with regard to Allin's own safety, but what about those at ringside who didn't ask to be showered in glass shards? Watch the last couple of seconds - the woman in the pink top looks like she got her hand sliced when she grabbed the railing. I guess the mutants that attend GCW shows and the like are used to that sort of thing, but this was a comparatively mainstream crowd there to see one of their favourite wrestlers from their childhood retire, not be unwilling participants in an indie death match. Safest wrestling company in the world my arse, Tony.

But yes, long live the Stinger 🦂

When i've had my hand sliced open. I too will brush down my top with the same hand, reach down risking further injury on other shards and then fix my hair.

  11. That's Mike Santana officially gone. Fightful reporting and off the roster page. Sad how it ended, but expected with the way things fizzled out when he returned. The AEW singles division is stacked (and mishandled) he was never going to get a proper look.

Don't know if WWE/NXT would have any interest. TNA and MLW's $20m slush fund absolutely should.

  12. If you remember Toni Storm descended into Timeless after losing her title. I've figured the dynamic between Toni and Mariah will play out more once Toni drops the title and it feels like they're passing each other.

So is Conrad Thompson promoting this like he did with Flair's match? Am I the only one who gets a bit of a used-car-salesman 'If you're gonna die kid, die in the ring. It's good for business' vibe from him?

Seems to be more a DIY personal motivation project at the moment. If it was a purely cynical cash grab venture between the two of them, I doubt they would have stopped the podcast and would have the show tied to Summerslam or All Out weekend. Roped in DDP as I think his podcast is part of the same family of shows.

What is it with AEW legal that they can't sort visas out properly?

While it might get lumped together as "visa issues" the circumstances are going to vary from person to person. It's not just an AEW issue as seen with the CMLL talent getting pulled. Dragon Lee getting pulled from an NXT show was the most recent WWE example, unless you believe in the Gunther not on Elimination Chamber as he's applying for residency/citizenship and couldn't leave the country.

It's a situation that's never really recovered from COVID lockdowns.

  15. This might be noteworthy considering Mick's relationship with Conrad Thompson and how Ric Flair's last match went.

In one of the more extreme weight loss techniques I can think of, Mick Foley is getting in shape for one last match. In the hopes he will keep the weight off by sticking to the good habits required to get in ring shape. Sitting at 360 pounds to start with a target weight of 275. He's uploading some videos on his youtube detailing the journey.

I know when he was wrapping up his podcast he mentioned Jon Moxley or Matt Cardona as his preferred opponents. We've seen with Sting and Flair (still never watched it beyond the clips that did the rounds) that a tag dynamic to hide things might be a better bet for spectator interest.

Wish him the best and he gets what he desires out of the experience.

Fair enough! I enjoy your posts, so please don’t take it personally. I’m very conscious of tarring all AEW defenders with the same brush, but in a general sense I do find the narrative online (not on here, generally) unhelpful as it seems clear Tony Khan pays attention to the sycophants and dismisses most criticism as being made in bad faith. If AEW was failing completely, weirdly, it would frustrate me less. But given that it would only take a few easy changes to make things interesting again, it’s a bit harder to swallow. I’m glad most people here seem to get a lot more out of it, though. I’m probably in the minority on here at least in feeling how I feel about AEW.

AEW's like your favourite football team racking up high scoring draws or 4-3/2-3 type results. Plenty of positives (scoring goals) and plenty of negatives (piss poor defending).

It's another PPV cycle coming to an end with the promise of change to come. Darby back in singles action, Okada & Mercedes Mone expected arrivals, clean slate for the tag scene. Just know there's going to be Jericho hogging the spotlight, OC/HOOK standing still, Deonna cooled off after her stint as a title contender.

Because Jericho needed a match so they cancelled the Meat. Sad times.

I love Lance and wish he was featured regularly. I rewatched his match with Hangman recently and it was fucking tremendous. I'd rather he was a singles guy but if a Trios gets him on TV each week I'm happy with that. Dutch's wonderful Bossman Slam also needs to be on TV each week.

As much as I like Lance, the dude's pushing 50. If a big lanky bastard's going to get a singles push, Big Bill's right there twiddling his thumbs while Ricky Starks looks at Orlando real estate.

Wasted opportunity if they don't do HOOK v. Lance Archer for the FTW title. Should get a sampling tomorrow. HOOK's someone that should have had the babyface title run with multiple hoss defenses like OC/Mox/Cody.

If they can use the jet to fastrack  Chris Jericho from some random Wetherspoons in Northampton, they can use it to fly Samoa Joe back and forth from Hollywood.

The first season was filmed summer 2022. He popped up to build to Death Before Dishonor in the middle of it. Appearances aren't ruled out. Plus when he did the King of Televsion pretapes, it's not like he had to be in the building.

As World Champion on a stacked roster its easier to speculate on him dropping the title to disappear than work around his schedule. Which is what makes the Revolution match-up so interesting.

Wait, is that something going around? I haven't heard anything.

The TV show he's part of got picked up for a season 2. Still in pre-production last I heard with no date on when filming will start. There's the expectation he'll be gone for a bit sooner than later.

    What happened to "Meat Madness"?

Supposedly some of the other participants that would have been included aren't cleared. It has been delayed for now.
