  1. Thanks. Interesting question, it does look like fancam footage to me too, but since there is announcing I'm assuming maybe it is from a TV broadcast and the pictures a bit grainy etc as it's been captured from a VCR.

  2. Big Josh and Dustin were UK exclusive Galoobs if I'm correct. The blue trunk Barry Windham and Flyin Brian Blue tiger print trunk are rare too apparently as are the entrance attire figures. There are also other Galoob figures that are UK releases (Flair red trunks with the lightning bolt one for example).

The axe accessory is what pushes the price up of the Josh figure up I believe. The condition of the figure too plays a part. But say you had a mint on card (MOC) Big Josh a lot of collectors would pay big money for that I think.

  3. I assume Tele Globo own the rights and are either blocking footage on copyright grounds and/or not much footage still exists. I found this footage on YouTube though, the bottom one is from a playlist of other luta livre

The meat industry are the ones on the extreme side, they slaughter 15 billion sentient beings a year. That is extreme. They are on the extreme level, not the people who are trying to change attitudes.

The meat industry blatantly lie to consumers. The parade cows and sheep in fields so the general public think that’s what they are eating. It isn’t, the meat and dairy industry lie to you. Here is an article which explains a bit about how free range and cage free are basically just lies

    http://www.onegreenplanet.org/animalsandnature/think-you-know-free-range-and-cage-free-chicken-think-again/

Here is a website that shows in real time how many animals are being killed.

    http://thevegancalculator.com/animal-slaughter/

It has a bunch of documentaries on the bottom, if you can watch them all you’d turn Vegan. Doubt you will though, because you want to eat meat and will happily ignore any facts to serve yourself.

Like I've mentioned I actually don't eat meat either, I just don't agree with PETA forcing people to stop eating meat. It's all about making an individual choice to stop. I'm very well aware of the points you've brought forward too,  I don't need a lecture which is the point I'm trying to get across with PETA. I know how horrendous animals are treated, I watched a documentary years ago and was repulsed by it so I've made a personal choice to stop eating meat.

As I also have said I genuinely really do care about animals welfare but there's a right way and a wrong way to go about drawing attention to their plight. If they were raised humanely yet still culled they'd still be an argument but you have to factor in basic food chain dynamics. A lot of animals etc wouldn't actually be bred because and it's a very harsh comment to make there'd be no real use for them. So I see both sides of the argument. If someone wants to make a personal choice to eat meat that's entirely up to them. I can't dictate or force them to stop. You can educate to put across the abhorrent way animals are treated and what they have to go through but how many would care?. Really it's an incredibly moral and ethically debate which is very multifaceted because however much you educate some people won't care or they will but not to such a degree that they'll stop or push for animals to be treated better.

So it's best to educate where & when you can but if you go the wrong way about it it comes across as wrongly and defeats the object entirely. Posting links to animals being slaughtered for example. I mean, majority of the worlds population have pets and love animals so not many are going to sit and watch it are they?. It's again the point I'm making it's not making a points, it's pushing it in your face to the nth degree. I have absolutely no inclination at all of watching any animal suffer, because it's beyond sickening and incredibly saddening, heartbreaking. Plus your preaching to the choir here, I'm a vegetarian, I don't even eat meat.

But shocking people into vegetarianism and veganism isn't the way to go. I'm actually on your side in this debate, but, I'm not going to demand people to stop eating meat because you can't go around dictating people's personal decisions that way. That's wrong too and it's guilt shaming people to stop eating meat which isn't right morally either. Plus there's some who are contrarian will do the opposite anyway. This is a never ending debate but I've learned staying true to your own beliefs makes things easier because not everyone is going to share the same ideology. Strong arming people into your way of thinking won't work, it'll most likely just wind people up and have the complete opposite effect. Plus you'll also wind yourself up as people which intentionally bait you and its a never ending cycle. I should have been clearer on my points regarding PETA but I just don't agree with the way they go about things majority of the time. The shock & awe type approach and misrespenting the truth shouldn't be on their agenda to begin with. They should be the voice of reason and uphold the moral & ethical code but they go the wrong way about things in most cases especially their ad campaigns which are often offensive & cause controversy.

  6. I don’t really understand how anyone could argue that meat isn’t murder though.

Me neither but Its the way Peta go about getting the message across.  They are on the extreme level of the scale and it comes across more so of them demanding people not to eat meat than a personal choice which it of course should be. Plus a lot of cattle is sadly just bred for the purpose of consumption so if no one ate meat they'd be a considerable lot less cattle being bred and there's the argument that using cattle for farming is cruel & inhumane also, so there's a multitude of things which can be debated.

As for the milk causing autism debate https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2014/05/the-bad-science-behind-petas-claim-that-milk-might-cause-autism/371751/

Petas ad campaign was play on the "Got milk?" ads were in real bad taste. Rightfully they've stopped the campaign now.

A science paper on the subject

    https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1750946709001111

If PETA did more detailed research and lessened up on the aggressive style points they don't just get across but shove in your face it would do them a better service.

In the US, cows milk is injected with rBGH (growth hormone) and IGF-1 (insulin like growth factor)

    http://americannutritionassociation.org/toolsandresources/milk-america’s-health-problem

But they are banned in Europe and Canada. Could those two things cause detrimental health side effects?. But any study would be flawed if you incorporated cows milk from Canada and Europe into any scientific study since farmers are banned from including it and rightly so.

  7. Seems they are deflecting factual truths about the impact the production of the leather to fit their own agenda here too. I'm totally against animal testing, using animals for their skins and fur, animal cruelty, raising animals in cramped squalid conditions (battery hens etc) among other things but the whole "meat is murder" rhetoric is too much & chucking paint over people. I don't eat meat but I don't judge those who do. In my opinion Peta are force their views down peoples throats and villianise those who don't abide with their points of view. I also think they give a bad name to those who genuinely care about animals welfare since they are on the extreme end of the scale. They should get more involved in stopping the hunting of elephants for ivory, rhinos for their horn, eliminating the hunting of animals for wealthy folks to take a tacky selfie with their "kill", stopping the illegal importation of exotic animals and help endangered animals. These are real important issues they should be focusing on.

  9. Any news on whether Virgin are carrying ElevenSports and packaging in with BT as one of their bundles?. I'm not really into streaming video so an alternative option to watch on normal TV so to speak would be more appealing. Not surprised the PPVs will be actual pay per view even if it's just Conor's fights. Would be better if the UFC on BT coverage ends when Eleven begins because after December 3 there's quite a few shows and a PPV coming up. I'd imagine BT are losing Cage Warriors too since it's part of UFC Fight Pass.

  10. The Islanders play their games at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn

    https://www.nhl.com/islanders/tickets

    https://www.nhl.com/islanders/schedule/2018-09-16/ET/list

You could get tickets to watch the Nets.

https://www.nba.com/nets/schedule But only home game in that time frame is ironically against the Knicks on Friday 19th October.

    Other events

    https://www.msg.com/calendar/?happening=10%2F01%2F2018-10%2F31%2F2018&location=New%20York&venues=all

check the venue name though so it's definitely MSG. If you wanted to see Steely Dan they'll be at the Beacon Theatre on October 17th & 18th and October 20th & 21st.

Thanks for the links. The week we're going they're playing Atlanta on the Wednesday and Boston on the Saturday - we'd hoped the Atlanta one might be a bit more affordable. It's not the sport so much as 'going to see something at Madison Square Garden' for me so may have to just skip it unless cheap ones turn up nearer the time.

You're welcome. You could try nearer the time whilst your there to see if any cheaper tickets are available. Apparently the Knicks tickets are 4x as much as the average ticket price for other teams apart from the Lakers. I guess because of Madison Square Garden and its situated in an affluent area of New York. Does MSG do any tour(s) at all? Maybe do that instead. This site might offer cheap tickets nearer the time

    https://www.msg.com/knicks-tickets

But as Atlanta and Boston are marquee teams that might still make it expensive. I think you'd have more chance with the Hawks tickets being cheaper but it might be worthwhile if you do want to see the Basketball to be able to say I saw the Knicks vs the Celtics.

  12. https://www.cheaptickets.com/events/performers/new-york-knicks-tickets

Old topic from 2013 but might be useful too

    https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g60763-i5-k6995183-Cheapest_way_to_get_New_York_Knicks_tickets-New_York_City_New_York.htmlp

If it's a regular season game against a marquee team say the Celtics/Lakers/Warriors etc you'll be looking at a higher price. Seems tickets are $50+ across the board for the Garden from the link above. It's $61+ for the Pacers.

If not the basketball I was going to suggest the baseball. October is post season though and Yankees most likely will make it but the Mets won't this year, plus the tickets will  more expensive. You could see the New York Islanders since I believe they will soon be starting the regular season.

  13. I believe so, they allow you download games the FAQ mentions. However they refer to a "purchase" so I'm unsure if you have to pay to download each one or whether it's included in a higher price tier they offer.

    http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/help/faq_dds.jsp#q1

    1. What kind of file am I downloading?

You will be downloading a Windows Media video (or in some cases audio) file with DRM. Generally, game files are approximately 1 GB in size with a bitrate of 1 MB (very high quality). MLB.com Downloads are for personal and non-commercial use.

    2. Why is a license used for my downloaded video?

All MLB.com Downloads are encrypted with Microsoft Digital Rights Management technology. DRM security requires a valid license before viewing the material. You must have Windows Media Player (version 10.0 or higher) downloaded on your machine to view downloaded video.

    3. What is DRM?

Digital Rights Management is a technology that allows for the secure management of digital media. This security protects the content provider from unauthorized distribution, viewing and use of the material.

    4. Can I copy this downloaded file to another machine and play it?

Yes, the license given to you for a digital download allows for the viewing and transfer of the download to up to three machines. If you view the video from work, then you will still be able to view the file from home.

    5. I downloaded this file and then disconnected from the Internet, but now I am getting a license error.

When viewing the downloaded video for the first time, you need to be connected to the Internet in order to obtain a license to view the material. If this problem persists please contact Customer Service at 866.800.1275 or e-mail customerservice@website.mlb.com.

    6. How do I obtain a license on my Mac for this downloaded file?

Currently the version of DRM in use is not supported by the Macintosh Windows Media Player, therefore you cannot view downloaded videos on a Mac.

    7. Do I have to obtain a license every time I want to watch the downloaded video?

No. When you first try to play the video, a license will be distributed to you and stored by the player. Unless manually deleted, the license will exist forever and will be used when you try to watch the downloaded video on that machine. If you watch the video on a different machine, another license will be required.

    8. I have a Windows PC and I am using Windows Media Player, but I cannot get a license.

The current Digital Rights Management technology is only available on Windows Media Players that are version 10.0 or higher. If this problem persists please contact Customer Service at 866.800.1275or e-mail customerservice@website.mlb.com.

    9. Can I burn an MLB.com Downloads video to DVD and watch on my TV?

You can burn a MLB.com Downloads video onto a DVD, but only as a storage medium for computer files, not as a "TV quality" DVD. You can use your computer to write a MLB.com Downloads Windows Media file to a data DVD (DVD-ROM) for storage (similar to writing to a CD for storage) so you don't have to keep it on your computer's hard drive. However, this is very different than a DVD-Video DVD (such as a motion picture DVD) that you view in high-resolution on your TV screen. MLB.com Downloads files are computer screen-resolution Windows Media files; DVDs that you watch on your TV are higher-resolution MPEG-2 format files. If you are using a monitor as your TV, you may be able to view content that is displaying on your computer screen.

    10. What's the difference between watching a "streamed" video (a live video on MLB.TV, for example, or a video in the MLB.TV on-demand archives) and watching a "downloaded" video (for example, one purchased via the MLB.com Downloads)?

Here are the key differences between streaming and downloading video:

      1. Streaming
        1. Streaming video starts playing almost immediately when you click on a link. There will be a little bit of "buffering" (as your computer makes the connection and starts the data flowing from the server that is feeding you the video) and then the video begins playing.
        2. Video is currently offered in one broadband bitrate: 400K/700K.
        3. The quality of the picture you see will vary greatly, depending on the speed of your Internet connection. MLB.com doesn't recommend streaming video for dial-up Internet connections.
        4. The video does not take up any space on your computer's hard drive - effectively, you are watching a "link" to another site (in this case, a place where the video footage is stored) as it is delivered ("streamed") to your computer in real-time.
      2. Downloading
        1. Downloaded video does not start playing when you first click on a link. You must first purchase the file, then have the entire file "downloaded" to your computer (by streaming the bits to you over the Internet). Once the download is complete, you can begin playing the file off of your computer's hard drive.
        2. How soon you can start watching the video footage will depend on the speed of your connection.
        3. Once you start playing the downloaded file, the video quality will be very high and there will be no interruptions based on a poor Internet connection because you are playing it off your hard drive. In fact, you can play the video on your computer without being connected to the Internet at all, because the actual video file is stored locally on your hard drive or device.
        4. To store a complete file, you will need enough hard drive space to store a roughly 1.5 GB file. A complete 9+ inning video is a large file, and if you do not have enough drive space, you will not be able to watch the video.

    11. Is my internet connection fast enough for MLB.com video and audio streams?

      Take the MLB.com Speed Test!

This test will measure your download rate from our servers to give you a recommendation as to whether or not your internet connection is fast enough for MLB.com video and audio streams.

Click here to test your internet connection.

    12. Why can I no longer view previously purchased downloads?

It has come to our attention that a small subset of our MLB.com Digital Download customers are unable to access and watch certain games that they previously purchased on MLB.com. MLB.com is committed to ensuring that all non-functioning MLB.com Digital Downloads that were previously purchased directly from us are again made available at no additional cost to our customers without regard to the number of machines to which the Downloads have been transferred.

If you are unable to view a MLB.com Digital Download game that you purchased directly from us, please contact MLB.com Customer Service by either (1) sending an e-mail to customerservice@website.mlb.com listing the games that are no longer accessible, or (2) by calling 1-866-800-1275 to speak to a representative.

We will then send you an e-mail containing information on how to re-download and access these games. Please note that all Regular Season games will be available in the originally purchased format and that all Postseason games will be made available in Windows Media format. If we are unable to provide you with a replacement video, we will offer you a refund.

We regret any inconvenience, and value your continued support.

    13. After downloading the media, why isn't the "Play" button enabled after I have acquired the license?

The following remedy is for Windows XP and Vista users only. You must install and upgrade your security component to allow playback of protected Windows Media at the following URL (this page must be opened using Internet Explorer) - http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/crlupdate/en/crlupdate.html. Please follow the instructions according to your platform.

  14. That's true but they wouldn't be the same quality as the official downloads. They'd likely have a HD download option so they'd be perfect 1:1 copies of shows out there if people chose to put them up on torrent sites/file sharing etc. Now I'd imagine they are stream ripped so there would I'm assuming be some quality loss/pixelation/compression in places. Something similar to iPlayer where you have 30 days to watch the show as a download then when that time expires the file becomes unreadable would work. Then even if they are shared after 30 days they'd be obsolete.

  15. Will the tiered pricing involve charging more for the big 4 events?. I can see them going with the vault/archive material on the lowest tier, other PPVs and big shows (Takeover and such) above that and the premium level content being Rumble, Mania, Summerslam and Survivor Series. A download option would be great but they'd need to really DRM it as otherwise it'll end up all over the internet. Unless there's with like an identifier (e.g. account number)embedded somewhere in the file so if you share it elsewhere they'd know about it.

  16. Suge was going to get life with no possibility of parole. I think he has like 3 and a 1/2 years or so off the 30 year sentence for time served already. He did say to the judge he's expecting to die in prison because of the multitude of health problems he has though. But there maybe a chance he can get out a bit earlier if he's a model prisoner (with good behaviour etc) unless it's a fixed 30 year sentence then he has to definitely serve the remainder of his time.

I won't argue about his musicianship, I can't say I've ever paid attention to it because the music is so uninspiring. As a producer, meh. Writer, meh. I said his music is overrated and shit. Maybe shit is a little strong but I find his whole musical schtick insipid and boring generally.

    tenor.gif?itemid=5365013

If Miles Davis is a fan of your music you have to be doing something right

His shit was the most exciting music I was hearing in 1982,” Davis wrote in his brilliant 1990 autobiography. “Here was someone who was doing something different, so I decided to keep an eye on him.”

He’s got that church thing up in what he does,” Davis continued in his autobiography. “He plays guitar and piano and plays them very well. But it’s the church thing that I hear in his music that makes him special, and that organ thing. It’s a black thing and not a white thing. Prince is like the church to gay guys. He’s the music of the people who go out after ten or eleven at night. He comes in on the beat and plays on top of the beat. I think when Prince makes love he hears drums instead of Ravel. So he’s not a white guy. His music is new, is rooted, reflects and comes out of 1988 and ‘89 and ‘90. For me, he can be the new Duke Ellington of our time if he just keeps at it.”

Everyones music taste is different so if you're not a fan, that's OK. But that Prince isn't a good producer - he wrote, produced & arranged his first album all on his own like an established veteran. Plus he's produced Larry Graham, George Clinton, Mavis Staples, Chaka Khan among others.

As a songwriter Sinead O'Connor, The Bangles, Chaka Khan to name but a few have had hit songs from songs Prince has written. Plus he essentially created his own competition with The Time, Vanity 6, Mazarati, Apollonia 6, Andre Cymone. Not only that but influenced many artists

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/artists/from-madonna-to-muse-the-bangles-to-beyonc--no-modern-pop-act-es/

    http://www.dazeddigital.com/music/article/30866/1/how-prince-influenced-a-generation-of-musicians

He has who knows how many songs recorded in the vault (estimated to be in the hundreds), played a multitude of instruments, was a fantastic performer (one good example is the Sign O The Times concert) and if anything all things considered what Prince means to the music industry is actually probably underrated. Thanks to him & MJ they got black artists music videos played on the predominantly white MTV of the time too.

So Princes place in musical history shouldn't be downplayed & understated when you take everything into account. You don't have to like someone's music to respect their contributions to their craft and in my opinion Prince was and still is one of the greatest artists of all time.

We either didn't get Chrono Trigger, or Chrono Cross. I'm leaning towards Chrono Cross not being released here.

Chrono Trigger definitely didn't get a UK release, just a Japanese & North American release. There's a PAL cart up on eBay but that's very likely to be a bootleg since the game would be either NTSC (US) or NTSC-J (Japan).

To add to the Roy love, his version of Elvis Costello's The Comedians is perfect for this thread:

I think the Costello version is rubbish, but Orbison turns it into a proper song.

The Black & White Night concert is great. Bruce is on stage with The Big O too along with kd Lang, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Jackson Browne & T Bone Burnett among others.
