  1. Very good show. Bar Jericho stinking the place up with his mere presence. Ospreay Vs Danielson was more incredible than even the high expectations I had. Also the main event nailed it. Man Swerve is cool and Joe has never been more consistently used properly in his entire career.

To be fair PPVs have never been AEWs problem. Let's hope the momentum continues onto TV and we never have to put up with lame swipes at WWE ever again (I'll believe it when I see it)

  2. It's not the touring model that made them profitable (but it helps) it's the physical media sales. Basically Jay & Bob reboot did gangbusters on DVD/Blu-ray so as long as the budgets are low Lionsgate etc are more than happy to front the money.

It's probably the schedule exacerbating thngs. I think it was taped over the space of a week or 10 days? They'll have probably taken a few months to film the originals, giving contenders and gladiators a decent bit of time to recover from any knocks they might have received.

In the old series it was shot over one month a series. I think this was over two weeks but could be wrong about that.

  4. Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees #4 came out yesterday and it's still looking like the book of the year. Wonderful stuff.

Also Cobra Commander #3 came out which was better than #2. It's good fun but maybe my least favourite of the Energon Universe so far.

Transformers is far and away the best of the bunch but then it is Daniel Warren Johnson who can do no wrong in my eyes.

Picked up the first issue of the new Thundercats reboot at the weekend, it’s a pretty good start, basically a loose retelling of the first episode of the original cartoon but without Snarf (yet). All the main crew get updated looks, the funniest being Tygra’s fur branching out like a handlebar moustache and they encounter Slithe for the first time

I was a little disappointed by issue 1. The interior art is trash and the story was only OK. Comparing it to the recent Transformers reboot it's not in the same sport let alone league. However it did mange to get me hooked enough to grab issue 2. Tygra's bizarre mustache doesn't annoy me as much as alot of people mind you.

  6. I looked it up and True Romance was actually cut by the MPAA to get an R rating including Alabama not taking the shot.

The BBFC then cut it a further 3 seconds when Alabama is thrown through a window. The uncut/directors cut version was later released Uncut in 1999 by both the BBFC and unrated in the US.

  7. Next Saturday at The Blackheart Camden this is going to be a blinder if you are into Synthwave/Dark synth. House of Serpents is the side project of the lead singer from Lebrock.

I'm two issues into Void Rivals and it feels very much like the kind of Image book I was lapping up before we had my daughter. If the 'name' books are a significant step up I'll be more than happy.

The lads in Travelling Man have been cooing about Daniel Warren Johnson so I might give Do A Powerbomb a go as well. Cheap Kindle comics are very much my friend in this situation.

I love him. Do A Powerbomb is legit in my top 5 of all time. No other story shows why wrestling and comics are awesome like DAP.

I've got a collection of graded #1 variants which are pretty cool.

This one might be the coolest but maybe not my favourite.

Has anyone read any of the new comic series or any of the other Energon Universe stuff? I'm starting with Void Rivals which is a new IP and trying to read it in something approaching publication order.

They've all had a load of buzz and the creators are pretty exciting.

Yep the Transformers series top tier. Daniel Warren Johnson is a master. Duke is very good and Cobra Commander is solid. Void Rivals is slightly dull outside the cameos but I think it's building well.

  10. Right now this is not a criminal case. Its civil. Hopefully he gets taken to the cleaners but really I want this to go to discovery so it all is made public. Now depending on the evidence and testimonies I think there could be a criminal case to come.

There is also a grand jury investigation ongoing but it seems like that might not come to anything if it's not within the next 6 months or so.

I highly recommend this from Post Wrestling. They have been covering it with class and great detail.

  11. I'm reading the court document now and it's absolutely brutal. I always thought Vince was dodgy but this outright inhuman.

I have a question regarding the document. I'm not really educated on the how's and why's of the structures of these things and want a better understanding.

Why don't they say the names of the WWE/UFC Champion, Doctor, Physical Therapist and the 4 executives? Is it a choice by the victim or is it it a law thing?

If the former then all power to her she has every right to keep whatever details she wants private in my eyes. She's been incredibly brave and detailed.

I really hope this leads to prosecution because it's as clear as day they are out right crimes of the worst kind.

If the latter, anyone know why?

The only hope I have of the company attempting to do the right thing is TKO is now in charge and not Vince's goons.

Hopefully more sponsors pull their support because let's be honest the only reason they are likely to do anything is of they loose money.

Because of what happened with Ashley Massaro. I'm never watching again.

Since the Ashley documents were released I'll still watch it. I just won't give them any money for it again until Vince has either carked it or has absolutely nothing to do with the company.

This deal with Netflix has put me in quite the pickle. The whole family use Netflix all the time so cancelling screws them over.

Do we know if just not watching the content sends the message or am I giving Vince money even if I don't watch his content? I'm pretty stubborn about it, don't even give them clicks on their YouTube videos.

Cheers. I wouldn't mind a secondhand copy. I'll have to keep an eye out in the usual places. The link from @Dr. Alan Grant is working out a bit too expensive.

With it being OOP. Would it have been pulled off the shelves? Is there much of a chance that I may find it on the shelves at Forbidden Planet?

I don't think it will be pulled off shelves if trades work the same as regular comics. The stores out right buy them and can't return them. Now it's been a minute so they may well of all sold out but it's worth a look.

  14. White Men Can't Jump is a classic. I can watch that any day.

The original Longest Yard is a bit ropey but I have a soft spot for both Vinnie's Mean Machine and Sandler's Longest Yard. Both I can put on in the middle of the night and have good old time.

Escape To Victory is a favourite. I have fond memories of watching It with my Dad. It really took my imagination as a kid with the arm breaking scene and the match is brilliantly shot.

I've not seen it since I was a kid but I remember loving Silver Dream Racer. I might try and track it down and give it a rewatch.

Bend It Like Beckham is wonderful. Made even more so by the fact my Daughter also loves it. See also Karate Kid.

Controversial I know but I never cared for Raging Bull. it's stunningly made but utterly miserable.

I've recently got into a run of racing movies. Loved Rush, Ford V Ferrari and Grand Tourismo was much better than I expected.

  15. Back when I was about 12 in the mid 90s there were Dip Dab and Fruit Cocktail fizzy drinks in the taller thinner cans. I remember loving them but one of them gave me the most wretched farts of my life. I suspect the youth club I was at didn't appreciate it either.

I think its fair to say it wasn't their Wrestlemania with how they booked it and promoted it in the build.

They definitely need to keep talking about it as if it's the most important show all year round like mania if they want to run it every year IMO. If you can convince the audience it's mania special regardless of the card it will sell every year. If they do what they did last time and only talk about it a month before then they are in trouble long term.

The actual card doesn't really matter as long as they put on a hell of a show. Which they usually do. Something like this needs to be built around a brand. All In/Wembley needs to be the selling point because AEW PPVs are uniformly good wrestling shows and tickets need to be sold so far in advance that they can't really start the build.
