  1. Wasn't sure where to put this but I want it!
  2. Michael Emerson is fucking amazing in basically everything.
  3. Yeah for me most things aren't annoying until they become formulaic and expected and happen too regularly. All companies can afford to dip into the familiar once in a while as long as it's not every single time. So inevitably AEW will do things WWE have done and the other way round, but as long as it's entertaining and doesn't become a slog because you know exactly what's happening, I don't have a massive issue with it.
  4. Man I always love the enthusiasm about AEW in reviews and then feel so deflated by the predictable WWE digs. I know I shouldn't but hey. Wish it was possible to just be positive about stuff without that.
  5. Thing is even if it wasn't spoiled, I'd still just be a bit "oh cool" and middling about it. It's a shame as unexpected people turning up can be one of the high points of a wrestling show, and someone like Okada should illicit a pretty crazy reaction but I just feel it's all been a bit watered down by the crossovers. Pros and cons of all of it really.
  6. I did find the Okada thing a little underwhelming but, if I'm honest, I'm not sure what they could've done to make me care that much. The close association between NJPW/AEW, as fun as it can be for Forbidden Door etc, does mean that there's a big loss in terms of the 'surprise' element and things feeling fresh. So yeah, I just don't actually care that much at the moment. Obviously match wise I'm sure things will be good enough - as we've seen with Ospreay - but in terms of someone just turning up, it doesn't have much to it
  7. Consistency is it. As with many of these guys they need focus and TK's support in pushing them forward. Let them build up momentum rather than just getting distracted by someone else. Give them a chance to really catch on.
  8. Ha. Thats me with Vegas/Mafia books. I went deep on that and bought like 10 after our honeymoon. Don't think I've read any yet. That was a decade ago.
  9. Won't surprise anyone but yes me! Or at least it used to be. I loved my weekly delivery of comics. I loved my collection of nicely boarded comics. Then I realised it was a terrible idea because I'd need every spin off and additional one for each major event and it all went a little teeny tiny bit crazy. Plus I was worried about ruining them so never actually read them much either. I moved house early last year and we had to be pretty brutal with the choices of what came with us and sadly those went as did most of my hardback graphic novels. If I had the room then I'd absolutely still have them. I miss having subscriptions and no I do not enjoy the digital versions as much. Same with books. I can't put that stuff on a shelf just like I can't enjoy that nice book smell.
  10. I also have a horrible tendency to just enjoy how things look on my shelf as much as watching/playing/reading them.. which is a terrible reason for buying anything really but hey I could have a coke habit instead.
  11. Yeah, makes absolute sense to me. And yet I'll never do it. Same with books. I am weak. And I do this with PS and Xbox. And I always think I've got the time and I don't.
  12. If I told myself I'd get through my backlog of stuff first, I'd never buy anything new ever again.
  13. For the replies.
  14. But if all he's got to go on is that and any interviews or whatever, isn't that pretty natural? Plus he said he didn't really know what to expect. MJF has always blurred those lines so it's surely not that surprising Cena didn't know how he'd be?
  15. Santana and Ortiz were two of the ones I was most excited to see in AEW as I'd really enjoyed their work elsewhere. Sucks that they've ended up where they are now. I think both guys have potential - more together than separately, but hopefully it'll work out for both of them wherever, even if it's as solo acts.
  16. I'm sure Brian Gewirtz had already sent it in on the group Whatsapp.
  17. Nice mention of Sting this week but obviously this was the most important thing. So happy for him. ALSO THEY'RE TEASING ME BY KEEPING MY SAMI MANIA DREAM ALIVE. BASTARDS. Although my heart also loves Gable. So Sami/Chad final two and they just have a hug and agree to a triple threat. There we go. The rest of the show happened too.
  18. I assumed the whole crowd thought that with the cheer he got!
  19. I genuinely never had an issue with the Sting/WWE stuff. I didn't think they did that bad by him. BUT if he was unhappy with it then that's all that matters, and I'm damn happy he's had this last run. He deserves it. No one ever seemed to have a bad word to say about him and he's managed to go out on top. Not just as some kind of nostalgia kick but a genuinely decent run.
  20. A lot of it is also down to how old we are now.. probably.. I imagine people look at us and think we're old too damnit.
  21. That's definitely a part of it for me too. I saw the guy a few times at live shows in his first WWE run. I wasn't that fussed at all. I enjoyed him from time to time, but he's not someone that I was desperately annoyed about when he got released. I remember meeting him at Crystal Palace back in.. I'll say 2018 maybe but my memory is never good.. and you could tell (a) he was an incredibly nice guy and (b) he was working his backside off to make something of himself. I'd followed his journey here and there but I think that was the real first time I felt an actual connection to him and ever since I've wanted him to succeed. It's all about time and the journey. I mean I'm sure I saw Hangman Page on the same show and I could not have cared less about him. Didn't really give him a second thought. If only I'd known what was to come.
  22. I actually think he's far more believable than Cena. Maybe it's the history. Maybe it's the family. Maybe it's the journey. All of that together just makes me buy into who he's selling himself as today. Yeah his Codyspeak is a bit weird but a lot of promos aren't exactly spoken in a way any normal person would talk anyway. I can certainly see why he's not to everyone's tastes but I get why so many have bought into him since he returned. There's a legitimacy there that I don't think Cena really had.
  23. Yeah for all the faults that come with being an utter fanboy, the real positive is caring enough to give a guy like Sting a well deserved and respectful final run and going out on his terms.
