  1. The idea of celebrating the day that marked the end of a period when untold sacrifices were made for our country by holding a gathering in a lockdown is mesmerising.

  2. Watched the Rise and Fall of ECW for the first time in years. I always thought Terry Funk looked ancient in it, but in that 3-way dance in 1994 he'd have been a couple of years younger than Triple H is now, and only 4 years old than Cena is.

Watched the Styles / Daniels / Joe match from Unbreakable last night, first time I'd seen it in about 10 years. It really is a great match, one of those things that genuinely is as good as everyone says. Everyone looks strong in it too, just brilliant stuff.

Watched this on YouTube recently alongside some of the other TNA classics from around that time and they really do hold up well. Especially this match. Easy to forget how over Joe was around that time, his aura was on another level.

Side note, my girlfriend (never watched wrestling before) said these were by far the best matches she's seen. I've subjected her to the typical WWF/E matches, Hogan vs Rock etc, and some NXT stuff, so it was interesting that mid 2000's TNA was her favourite.

Breaking Bad - it seems it's number one on everyone's Greatest Dramas but after two series we just... moved onto something else.

Apologies for replying to an old comment, making my way through the thread and saw this.

I was about to give up on Breaking Bad after the second series, couldn't get my head around the hype at all. But from series 3 it becomes something else. S3 onwards and then into its spinoff, Better Call Saul, there's some of the best television ever made.

I'm not usually one for sitting through hours of TV or movies for the sake of it, but Breaking Bad from 3-5 had me hooked. Watched it for the second time and it was even more enjoyable. Give Series 3 a go and make your mind up after that, you can't really give it a chance until then.

  5. Booking the WCW lot like muppets made the WWF look like they'd spent the 90's in a hard fought battle against a bunch of losers. It made WWF look weaker.

The Invasion angle gets a lot of criticism but it was what it was, Vince obviously wanted rid of the WCW name, but I don't know what other way you could've done it really. The only difference would've been trying to push the incoming talent stronger. It was a short, quick pay off that was never going to be done any other way though. You'd be as well to fantasy book what would've happened if WCW bought Vince out.

In hindsight, it sounds logical to say they should've brought in wrestlers individually on their own merits without the Invasion stuff, but the fans were salivating for some kind of on-screen WWF vs WCW programme. They had to do the us Vs them angle.

Wrestling moved at such a pace back then that anything that ran for more than 3 months felt like an age. Trying to book a programme that ran for a couple of years might be doable now, with the Network and whatever, but 2001 was a different world.

  6. What proof has there been other than a Redditor claiming to have been sent messages and a short soundclip that could've been taken entirely out of context? Genuinely curious, I've only seen a couple of newz articles online and a Reddit post.

Apologies if there's more to this than I understand but that's the only information I'm aware of and I assume there must be more to it if people are being so quick to label him a nonce.

  7. Regarding the oil prices, a friend who is in the know about that sort of stuff went into depth about it all being inevitable at the beginning of the outbreak. He's usually spot on with this sort of stuff. The one thing I remember from the conversation was that there is apparently strong belief that oil/fuel/storage is a huge breeding ground for the virus, but obviously that information is not likely to be made public anytime soon.

  8. I'm hoping they have some augmented reality tricks up their sleeve. I've had an idea. Have a match with an actual brass ring on the roof, featuring a multi-man full of internet darlings from NXT. One of them gets thrown out of a mid-floor window halfway through. As two others fight it out on the roof over the brass ring, the camera cuts to the edge of the roof and there's the wrestler from earlier who's climbed up the side of the building.

This is where it gets fun. Vince appears standing over the edge of the roof and stands on the wrestlers fingers, sending Riley Snapmare into an augmented reality pit of fire. Great visual, also hides whatever foam pit or bouncy castle they need to take the bump.

The show fades out to a beam of Vince's face embossed on the moon and queue a million 'Vince stepped on my toes' promos and video packages.

  9. Shame they didn't hold on a bit with the releases, they could've had Vince in a control room pulling a lever for trap doors around the HQ. When the would-be released names went into a room together Vince could've hit a big red button to blast the room off into outer space.

  10. There's a house a few doors down from the corner shop that always has a sheet of A4 up in the window with some message scribbled on in marker pen. Previous gems were "START PICKING UP YOUR DOG SHIT BASTARDS" and then "PICK UP YOUR DOG SH*T", presumably because a parent knocked on the door as it's a pathway to the nearby school.

Last week there was something written about Boris Johnson, though I can't remember what. This morning was so good it made me laugh out loud in the middle of the street.

'5G IS MICROWAVES. YOU WOULDN'T PUT A MICROWAVE IN YOUR HEAD. RESEARCH IT'.

I don't know if this thread is about the 5G conspiracy theories going about, or for gems you've seen scribbled in windows near you?

  11. 14 mins into the video when he told them the dim the lights and play the video clips, I was expecting him to tell them to cut his damn music.

It would be hilarious if Trump was in charge of some other far less important project behaving like that, like a real life cartoon character but it's hard to find something so serious funny.

Been looking around online but cant seem to find an answer to this. How many daily deaths have been happening daily in UK since the death rate of Covid-19 has really risen? I read on average 1,600 people die a day in the UK (pre-virus). During this time are those 1,600 dying as well as the Coronavirus deaths? or is the overall figure still closer to 1600?

There's a decent article on the BBC that doesn't answer it directly but relates to the overall figures. Apologies if it's already been posted https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/health-51979654
