We’re not getting rid of the internet. I refuse to consult an encyclopaedia every time I need to prove my girlfriend wrong.

I reckon you mention your girlfriend every other post. She definitely doesn't exist.

  2. Was in the USA September 98, and despite loving most sports, had zero interest in baseball until I saw Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa on the news and as someone interested in stats and records, became obsessed with the home run chase. Bought all the papers daily, clipped them all, all the SI, ESPN mags etc.

Was a genuine thrill to witness it being broken live as I made sure everywhere we ate showed sports and that was that, Cards "for life"

In reality I don't follow them at all, but I do enjoy baseball, and more importantly, reading about baseball, which I believe lends itself to some of the finest sports journalism.

Tintin is great, but it's a lot less "knowing" than Asterix, I think - fun adventures, and you get the odd bit of subversiveness, like Captain Haddock fending off Madame Castafiore, but for the most part it's straightforward. Asterix, on the other hand, is just laced with sardonic inferences and piss-takes.

    Apologies, misunderstood.

    Yes, quite.

  4. Did anyone hear actually read the books as a kid? Its absolutely fine for us to all go "Yeah they were shit! Badly drawn characters and rubbish dialogue!" which I do actually agree with, but then I didn't read them as a child, and love them as a child. My actual children did though.

Big difference that. And I'm not saying kids should only accept silly/base/badly written/made/filmed things, but we do often forget we've only ever looked at these things through adult eyes.

I loved Biff and Kipper when I was a kid. I'm sure they're not the height of literature.

Disgusted at myself for adding to fucking HARRY POTTER discussion. Piss off, all of you.

Wasn't that part of the juxtaposition of the character though? That he was handsome, so you want to like him, and he has everything going for him so to speak but he won't leave his house and his views are as outlined by @Mr_Danger

Yeah that definitely adds a good layer to it. Like I say, I like them both, but second Matt edges it.

Chaplin "performing" with the band is always brilliant, and Stukes work with Jason in the second series was great.

When it cuts to him in the park in his full American football gear, I lost it.

Also, never realised the flat was supposedly in Battersea. Not sure where I thought it was though.

No fucking way! First Matthew was wonderful, the second was a pale comparison, living in the shadow of the man who made the character.

Oh, and also second Matthew > first Matthew. Don't argue otherwise skunk pussies.

I like them both obviously and its close, but Chaplin was far too good looking IMO. Stuke was more pathetic and that helped the character.

    "I'm bliiiiiind maaaaaaaan"

  7. For reasons known only to myself, I rewatched the entirety of Game On over the last two nights.

It hasn't aged as terribly as I thought it would have (obviously an episode called 'Double Hard Bastards and Girly shirt-lifting tosspieces' possibly wouldn't be made today sure) but I felt it was quite a charming throwback watch. The third series was absolutely shite mind. I wanted Martin to die by the end of it.

Oh, and also second Matthew > first Matthew. Don't argue otherwise skunk pussies.

I haven't done because I know I can't see replies and that without an account, so I figured I wouldn't be able to get a proper sense of the conversation.

Gotcha. Well, unfortunately seeing as all of this comes from her use of Twitter and the hatred she spews on it, this is one conversation you won't be finding out about will it.

I know you don't "do Twitter" but interested to see whether you have looked at her Twitter account and still don't see the presence of malicious intent.
