Playing this over and over for motivation

After a rotten week, decided to go out to eat at Cracker Barrel. Always a fun experience, I find. Has a big fireplace, but was too warm, so they just add a smoky scent to the air. Oil lamps at every table, country music playing.
We shared a basket of white cheddar bites, which were free due to loyalty points. I had the steak sampler, which was sirloin, biscuits, mashed spud, broccoli, and a half serving of country fried shrimp. Wife had buffalo chickenMac and cheese. I also got a $5 Mac and cheese with meatloaf to take home and have tomorrow. All that with change from $60 with a decent tip.

@BomberPat I've been left with a mortal fear of all-hands meetings at short notice; my old company did it 4-5 times, and as a startup, they did all the fuck awful start up things: either only invited the people who were getting sacked, or invited only those who weren't being sacked; had IT close lock peoples' email accounts whilst they were in the meeting; deactivated key cards. The last two were just recorded video messages from the CEO.
Turned out okay for me in the end, we were purchased, and out of the high watermark staff of about 400, I was one of the 20 or so who were rolled into the new company.
We did get in a consultant at the old company, and honestly it was a fantastic experience, for me and some others at least. I thought he had some amazing ideas, and when they let him go and memory holed all of those ideas, he reached out to the rank-and-file to make sure we were all on his linkedin, and even got jobs for a couple of people when they were laid off. Great bloke.

I just started doing the kwesh thing without any context years ago and now my wife just calls it kwesh, no questions (kweshtions) asked.
Same, and I got a laugh out of kwesh haderach.
I think I just missed a call from @simonworden

I see that she's only 30, but she must be a clone, as I swear I got off with her at various different clubs in about 2000.

Yes, I have the same memory, and it really doesn't feel such a long time ago.
That's something which has got me down, to be honest. UKFF years seem to match those of dogs, and Manny having died three years ago seems a counterfactual: not possible because it doesn't feel to me that three years have passed since I was previously reading about him!
I also recall when Margot was a new addition to @Sergio Mendacious's family, and she must be senior now.
It's a real downer, isn't it, how short the lives of our four-legged family members are. I try not to think about it (they're both a picture of good health) but the fact that my girls are now 12 and 13 causes me some uncomfortable reflection increasingly often.
I have real problems with this; I've heard it called anticipatory grief, and I get an attack of it nearly every day. I'll be watching Hiccup doing something awesome, and think "if he has an above-average run, he'll likely still be gone while I'm in my 50s."Â
Margot turns 7 in a couple of months, but she's been acting like a grumpy senior for several years. When we moved into our last apartment, it seemed to really mess her up. Hid for several weeks, barely saw her, and she started to hate me, and go for my wife frequently (whilst remaining obsessed with her). Oddly, moving to another state (and flying on a plane) didn't seem to affect her as badly. Maybe it was because she got to fly first-class?
Over three years later, I've managed to make friends with her again; I was doing a bit of freelance work this morning, and she was sitting on my shoulder rubbing her head on me.

That sounds amazing. For me living in the countryside is great but there isn't a decent Mexican restaurant within a 100 mile radius of me and I love Mexican food. I make my own but its about as authentic as Dick Van Dyke's accent in Mary Poppins.Â
It's really been a pleasant surprise since we moved here — there are so many Mexican places, there's even a Salvadorean restaurant.

Wish I'd taken a picture of last night's dinner at a local mexican place. I started with chicaron norteno, which was a bowl of homemade guacamole, with three deep fried belly pork slabs sticking out the top. Then the main course was the "guadalajara combination," which sounds like a cracking tag team.
I wish I'd taken a photo — it was nachos, topped with a tostado, two flautas, and a quesadilla, topped with salad, topped with salsa, beans, sour cream, and guacamole. I'll still be finishing it tomorrow. -
Great sound quality on this one
